Chapter Text
Hey! My name's Sage, I'm a 25 year old Native English speaker who currently resides in the United States. I've been writing fanfiction for a little over a decade & used to have an AO3 account back in 2014 that I would regularly post on. Although, I recently decided to orphan that account for a multitude of reasons. The main reason being that the stories I would be seen writing back during the ripe age of 14 are quite different from the ones I'd likely write today. It is nice to know that I've developed a lot as a writer, but.. I will admit those stories I used to write are embarrassing.
I'd rather those pieces not be connected to me. Don't worry, I made sure to only orphan my work & didn't delete it. I know better than to delete work on here, my trash could easily be another person's treasure, and that's perfectly ok.
I've decided that I will be splitting this into three separate parts. The first part , the one you're currently on will mostly be focusing on me. Who I am as a writer and what my goals are. I'll also be detailing certain things that I don't feel fit into the upcoming two sections. The next part will be more focused towards the franchises and pairs I enjoy. Do keep in mind that not only am I a multishipper, I am also a rairpair enjoyer. Not all, but a few pairs listed will be accompanied by a small paragraph detailing my personal experience with the pair and why I love them. The final section will simply be about tropes. What tropes I absolutely adore, and what tropes I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.
I can already predict that the second section will have the most content in it. Not only because I'm in a ton of fandoms, but also because when it comes to talking about duos I enjoy, I become a huge yapper. It becomes a little difficult to limit myself when talking about them.
I'm sure the biggest question on everyone's minds right now, is what exactly do I write these days? As mentioned before, my writing style and personal interests from when I was 14 differed quite a lot to who I am at 25. Do keep in mind that I not only am I a lesbian, but I am also autistic or aka neurodivergent. So more often than not, I will be seen writing about whatever wlw or mlm pair that I happen to be seriously hyper fixating on at the time.
Queer pairs are something I've grown to find comfort in a lot these days due to the heteronormativity rampant in my day to day life. This is because I grew up in a fairly religious family with the ideology that romantic relations should remain between a man and a woman only. This is the main reason that I have grown to care so much about queer relationships in fandoms. Especially considering how little representation we actually get in the media.
This should truly go without saying, but homophobia and transphobia will not be tolerated on my page. There are filters for a reason, if you don't like a pair, filter it out. I will not give you the time of day, your comment will immediately be deleted and you'll be blocked, no discussion.
One thing I enjoy doing is introducing my personal headcanons into my stories. I NEVER mischaracterize the characters I write about in my stories, or at the very least I try my best not to. However, I will Include certain small headcanons I have here and there. As in Toya aoyagi is autistic, Akito Shinonome has multiple piercings, Mutsumi Wakaba has a small fascination with snakes, Kai Monteago has self image issues. All things true about myself that I am self projecting onto the characters I connect the most with.
So while I carry these headcanons about them, I'm not doing a disservice to the characters by completely mischaracterizing or changing who they are.
When it comes to length, there really is no guarantee how long a story of mine will end up. There are times where I just get in the zone and pump out 5K in one sitting, and other times where the exact opposite happens. The absolute minimum I will allow myself to write is 3K , its a personal rule of mine. I don't like feeling as if my story was too short to be enjoyable. As for my maximum (?) , I don't limit myself on how much I'm allowed to write. However, if a story of mine ends up with more than 7,000 words, I will turn the story into multi-parter. This is so I can keep it at a suitable and digestible size so I can avoid accidentally overwhelming those who enjoy reading my stories.
Last but not least, beta reading. Aside from the occasional typo fix & spell check, I rarely ever beta read my work, and for a very good reason. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my writing, I am incredibly hard on myself and I know this. If I reread my work, I will 100% want to scrap it and start almost over. Me not beta reading is to keep my sanity when it comes to writing. There will be times when I reread a previous chapter to refresh my memory on where the story was heading, however that is different in my opinion. In my eyes, it's a chapter I already published, something people have already read, I'm less likely to change it because of that. People have already read it, so I should avoid changing it so I don't confuse people.
That's just how my brain works. So while I will fix typos and grammar errors, there might be some that slip through the cracks. I'm only human after all. Please remember that !!
I believe I have shared all I had to for this part, I apologize for how long it ended up being, but there were so many things I needed to share. It's kind of funny, I'm putting so much work into this, despite knowing barely anyone's going to read it. Haha. If you somehow read this far, comment "Silly little guy" ! <3 Anyways, onto the next section, and arguably my favorite section , pairings & fandoms !!
