Chapter Text

Under the star-filled sky of the Garden of Eden, at an hour when humans were supposed to be asleep… the first man was wide awake and on high alert. A playful smile adorned his face as he searched every nook and cranny, looking for… something. Of course, the brunette knew the garden like the back of his hand! This place held no secrets from him! But the thing he was searching for was terribly clever and always found excellent hiding spots.

"Little Lu! I'm going to find you and catch you, just you wait! I'm the best at hide-and-seek!" the first man proudly declared, pounding his fist against his chest. Sure, Lucifer was a seraph, with wings and plenty of powers to cheat… but he had promised to play “fair” this time!

Still just as determined, the first man continued his search, looking behind every bush, every tree, and even inside a few caves. Lucifer couldn’t have turned invisible… could he? He had done it once before! It was awful—he kept poking Adam, and Adam couldn’t even fight back!

And then… he finally found the seraph. Who, in the end, must have forgotten about the game because he was kneeling in front of a family of ducks. Oh!!! That’s right!!! Lucifer couldn’t resist them—they were his weakness! Adam had to take advantage of this rare moment!

With a mischievous grin, the brunette silently crept up behind the seraph… then grabbed him and lifted him into his arms.

Oh, that high-pitched scream from Lucifer was absolutely hilarious.

"I got you, little Lu!" exclaims Adam's playful voice as Lucifer tries to struggle free—though not too forcefully, careful not to hurt him.

"Put me down, Adam!" The seraph wriggles, but he has that unmistakable smile—the one that says he’s thoroughly enjoying this and doesn’t mind at all. And Adam is far from stupid; he knows his best friend all too well. So, instead of letting go, he falls backward, still holding Lucifer tightly against him.

They end up lying on the ground, Lucifer still trapped in his arms. He’s stopped squirming, but now his face has taken on a yellow hue. His face sometimes turns this odd color when Adam hugs him too tightly or when he gives him a kiss on the cheek. It’s funny, and Adam loves seeing it, so he doesn’t hesitate to do whatever he can to make it appear.

"So, who’s the king of hide-and-seek?" Adam asks with a big grin. Lucifer rolls his eyes, looking slightly sulky. Adorable. The first man could spend all day teasing him! The seraph loves to mess with him, but Adam can do it too!

"You just got lucky. I was… distracted." Lucifer pouts, puffing his cheeks slightly. The human starts chuckling at this childish reaction but then yelps as he feels a finger press into his missing rib. As if it were a magic button, his arms immediately loosen, allowing Lucifer to slip free from the bear-like embrace and roll onto his side to lie down.

The two remained lying in the grass, silently gazing at the stars above, simply enjoying each other’s company without a word. Until Adam, once again, decided to act.

Gently, he reached out toward one of Lucifer’s six wings, running a finger softly over the feathers, smiling as he saw the wing tremble and the blond’s smile waver. Still just as sensitive, huh? They often had playful fights in the garden, and ever since the first man had discovered that his friend’s wings could be a weakness to exploit, he hadn’t hesitated to take advantage of it. But this time, he didn’t want to start another battle.

"Little Lu… will you ever let me preen your feathers again?" Adam asked, still lightly brushing the feathers he could reach—until Lucifer finally caved and pulled his wing away from those teasing fingers.

"Only if you promise not to tickle me at the same time. But we both know you can’t help yourself, so… hm… never?" The seraph stuck out his tongue, and Adam rolled his eyes. It wasn’t his fault that his friend was so sensitive! And it was so tempting! He loved hearing and making Lucifer laugh! Especially when the seraph arrived in the garden, looking utterly drained and sad… He never wanted to explain why he was upset in those moments, and that frustrated Adam immensely.

"What if I promise to try not to?" Adam pleaded, still grinning. "Please, little Lu! Besides, you do a terrible job taking care of your wings, and I know you like it when I do it, even if you never admit it."

He smiled as Lucifer’s face took on that yellowish hue again. Bingo! There was another moment of silence as the seraph turned his gaze back toward the starry sky, seemingly searching for an answer up there.

"In that case… if you promise… I’ll let you do it ." Lucifer finally conceded, a small, sly smile appearing on his lips. "BUT! If I feel your naughty little fingers sneaking toward my down or trying to tickle me, my revenge will be terrible, Adam."

That wicked smirk sent a shiver down the first man’s spine. But was Adam afraid? Pffft, absolutely not! They played like this all the time! These were precious moments.

But for now… he just wanted to watch the stars with Lucifer.

However, his friend eventually sat up in the grass and slowly unfolded his six magnificent wings. Every time, Adam couldn’t help but admire them. Would he have as many once he completed his mission?

Understanding the silent message, the human straightened up and moved to sit behind the seraph. His fingers, hesitant at first, slowly disappeared into the soft feathers, gradually growing more confident. Some feathers detached on their own, but Adam paid them no mind. No… something else had caught his attention—an odd sound coming from Lucifer.

"Little Lu… are you… purring?" the brunette asked, his eyes lighting up with excitement at the discovery. How adorable! It was the same sound as the tiny tigers in the garden!

Lucifer, however, jolted as if caught red-handed. He tried to suppress the sound, but Adam’s fingers were working so skillfully through his wings that stopping was impossible. Urgh.

"No, I don’t do… that kind of thing. You must be imagining it, big guy."

Lying wasn’t good… and he could hear Adam giggling behind him. Clearly, he didn’t believe a word of it.

Lucifer’s gaze drifted back to the stars as his body continued to relax, the soft purring slipping from him only growing louder.

Oh, Adam was definitely going to tease him about this for a long time. He just knew it.
