Nam-gyu hated all of his friends, if he would even consider them that. Of course, Thanos was the exception. In fact, the exception of Thanos was probably exactly why he didn't like anyone else. Gyeong-su cared too much about Thanos, Thanos cared too much about Min-su, and Thanos still hits on Se-mi despite her saying she likes girls. If Nam-gyu were to actually admit he was jealous of anyone Thanos gives any sort of attention to, he wouldn't be the first to think that. Nam-gyu has felt like this for years, but he'd deny any sort of attraction to Thanos. They've known each other since they were in their second year of college, which they both dropped out the following year. Nam-gyu knows he'd probably have a more noble career than a club promoter if he hadn't, but he wanted to do whatever Thanos did.
Nam-gyu thought about all this over a cigarette, or a pack, sitting on the stairs outside of the apartment complex he lived in. Of course he lives in the same apartment complex as Thanos does. It's like Nam-gyu can't bee too far away from him, like he's his life source. Nam-gyu was broken away from his mindless zoning out by a familiar voice.
"Nam-su, Nam-su. Bro, you there?" Thanos waved his hand in front of Nam-gyu's face, crouched down in front of him.
Nam-gyu looked over at Thanos, pushing his hand away from him, "Yeah, dude, why are you out so late?" Nam-gyu asks, putting out the cigarette he has just been letting burn, and discards it.
"You can only get the exotic stuff late, y'know. That's when the dealers who get their hands on the good stuff come out, Thanos pulls out a small plastic bag, filled with pills, from his pocket, "Now tell me why your out here so late."
"Just needed some air. You tried any of those yet?" Nam-gyu gestures to the plastic bag of pills, which Thanos was shoving back in his pocket.
"Obviously not, wanted to get home before that."
"Let me try it with you then." Nam-gyu stands up, planning to go into the apartment complex ahead of them.
"Nah, this is the strong stuff Nam-su, I don't think you'd be able to handle it." Thanos stands alongside Nam-gyu.
Nam-gyu sighs, rolling up his sleeve, revealing marks on his inner arm, indicating drug use. Even Thanos was a bit surprised by the sight.
"I've taken everything I could get my hands on working as a promoter, I can handle it." Nam-gyu says, rolling his sleeve back down.
The two of them end up making their way up to Thanos's apartment, sitting down on the couch in the small living room space. Thanos takes the bag out of his pocket and hands one pill to Nam-gyu and takes one for himself. They both take the drug, and sit in silence as they wait for it to kick in.
Moments later, them still not saying a thing, Nam-gyu feeling himself relax with the effects from the drugs. He looks over to Thanos beside him, who was just staring at the wall with the most stupid smile on his face ever. It was endearing, kind of.
"Feeling it?" Nam-gyu asks Thanos, huffing out a small laugh. Thanos nods in response, continuing to stare at the wall in front of him. Nam-gyu grins, looking away. He usually feels uncomfortable when him and Thanos silent with each other, but this silent feels oddly comfortable.
"Hey, Nam-su," Thanos breaks the silence, turning to face Nam-gyu, "Lemme try something."
"Huh? Try what?" Nam-gyu questions, and for a response, Thanos kisses the corner of Nam-gyu's lips. This is obviously a surprise to Nam-gyu, but he can't help but feel happy deep inside him.
After what feels like ages, but was actually just a couple seconds, "What? What was that about?" Nam-gyu asks softly, in almost a whisper.
"I just wanna try something." Thanos responds, placing both his hands on either side of Nam-gyu's face, kissing him, a real kiss this time. Nam-gyu actually feels like time has slowed, returning the messy kiss. Nam-gyu realizes that everything he's felt for his best friend, the man kissing him right now, was definitely more than platonic. Nam-gyu was in love with Thanos. He was content with that fact too.
Nam-gyu pulls away, whispering to Thanos, an almost longing look in his eyes, "I think," Nam-gyu started, though he was lying, he was sure of this, "... I'm in love with you."
Thanos looks a bit taken aback by the sudden confession, taking his hands off of Nam-gyu, "What?"
"I'm in love with you." Nam-gyu repeats, confidently.
Thanos awkwardly laughs, "Dude, I'm not gay."
Nam-gyu furrows his brows in a confused look, scooting away from Thanos just slightly, "You're not gay? Why did you just kiss me then?"
"Just wanted to try it out, thought you'd get it." Thanos responds.
Nam-gyu almost scoffs, the feeling of euphoria just melting away, "Why me, though?"
"It's 'cause your my best friend, Nam-su," Thanos reaches over to attempt to ruffle Nam-gyu's hair, but Nam-gyu dodges like a cat not wanting to be pet, "It's chill though, bro, anyone would fall for the legend Thanos."
Nam-gyu sighs, putting his head in his hands. He feels really fucking dumb right now, thinking Thanos could actually like him. He's at least grateful that out of all boys that Thanos could kiss, at least it was Nam-gyu.
"I... I'm gonna leave now." Nam-gyu picks his head up, standing up from the couch.
"Come on, Nam-su, there's nothing to be embarrassed about." Thanos grabs Nam-gyu's arm, who just pulls back, heading towards the door.
"Night." Nam-gyu says, before leaving Thanos apartment. Only then does Nam-gyu let himself cry, just a little bit. It's stupid anyway.
