Chapter Text
"Hey Scraps!" excitingly bubbled Goob, her older brother.
"Hi!" she responded. "Are you here just to talk about something important? I'm kind of busy, but I can take a break if you want."
"Oh, nothing much...! I'll wait until you finish."
"Are you sure?" Scraps replied. "I know your face always looks like that when you want to be nice, but you're actually sad."
"Alright, you got me!" he admitted. "I tripped over while playing tag with Toodles, and now I've got a bruise on my knee."
"Let me see it." she leaned forward to inspect the injury. "Nothing a band-aid can't fix! I'll be back in just a moment."
As she started walking, she started questioning what Goob said. I don't think I've seen Toodles lately. Is that really what caused the bruise? She wondered, completely lost in thought. In fact, Scraps even missed the band-aid that was sitting right in front of her. Why am I thinking about this so much? He's my brother after all, we tell each other everything!
"I'm back with the band-aid."
"Yay!"
"Also" she asked worryingly. "Was what you said to me true?"
"Well... I actually can't recall what happened." admitted Goob.
"Then why did you mention Toodles, who has been missing for a while now?"
"What? Missing?"
"Yes, and you were the one who discovered it."
"Sorry, but I don't remember that..."
"Okay... I'll take you to the handlers tomorrow to see what's wrong." Scraps sighed.
"But I'm fine! There's nothing to worry about, really!" stated Goob.
"Sure..." she worried. "Y'know, you can always ask me for help, right!"
"I do, thanks!" he nodded and left.
Nothing could surpass Scraps's sisterly love for Goob. His sunny smile always lightened up her day. She'd known him from the day she was born, so it's obvious she'd be skeptical of Goob's weird and sudden change in behavior. Although she was busy finding an interesting book for this week's book club meeting, Scraps was only able to think about him. She sighed and left her room, heading to Rodger's office. She was sure that Rodger would find out what's wrong with him. Scraps walked through the doorway, hoping to find the detective there.
"Hey, Rodger! You there?" she asked.
Although he was indeed there, he was so fixated on whatever he was doing that he didn't say a word, or even notice her. Guess he's just busy.
