she woke up confused where she was " wheres papa...?"
The room is completely featureless, white walls, no windows, the only furniture being a bed, small table and the door. As she looks around, the door opens. A doctor in white coat enters.
The Doctor has a kind face and a warm smile. He walks over to her and sets a toy, an action figure of a woman in a bat costume next to her.
"What's your name?"
" M-marigold.."
"Marigold. That's a pretty name. I'm Doctor Henry. How old are you marigold?"
" 5..." Marigold said
Doctor Henry smiles. "Okay marigold. I'm going to ask you some questions now, okay?"
"Do you know where you are?"
" n-no.."
The doctor pats her on the head. "That's okay. You're in a very special place. Have you ever heard the name Batman before?"
" yes ..."
"I want to show you something." He takes out his tablet and brings up video on it. It's a very short news report about a costumed vigilante stopping a gang's robbery outside of Gotham City. He shows it to her.
"Do you know what's happening in this video? Who that is?"
" papas.. men? "
The Doctor is surprised to hear this, but doesn't betray it. "When you say father, you mean Harvey Dent?"
" mhm..my papa.."
The Doctor nods. "Okay. I'm going to ask you another question. Will you answer it for me? What's your father's favorite color? What's your favorite color?"
" I don't know his favorite...but I like all of them. If I only liked one all the others would be left out."
"I want to show you something else."
He types something into his tablet. On the wall in front of the bed, a projection like a hologram appears. It shows a picture of Harvey Dent, her father, standing on a stage, a campaign button on his suit, next to him is the Mayor of Gotham.
"Do you recognize them?" the Doctor asks.
" is that papa...before?"
The doctor nods. "It is. This was after his first election as District Attorney. It was the first time anyone ever thought he stood a chance at becoming mayor."
"But after a few months, that all changed. Do you understand?" The Doctor says, and the next hologram shows what looks like a news report about a fire in the Gotham City Court House. Harvey's face is still in the picture, but now he's scarred on one half of his body.
" papa ..that's when he got hurt?" Marigold said
The Doctor looks at her sadly, "Yes, that's right." The next hologram shows a split image. Harvey's scarred face on one side, the other is of a costumed vigilante.
"Do you know who that is?" The doctor asked
"N-no.."
The Doctor taps on the tablet and the hologram switches to a video. It shows the same vigilante from before, the one who stopped the robbery, stopping a bank robbery.
"That, my dear, is Batman." The doctor says
