Work Text:
we were born into lukewarm water
swirling shimmering into the vast unknown
encased in glass, transparent, impenetrable
a bridge
a hope
sepsis blares through the pores
tendons and muscles and bones keep shape pale water
there must have been blood once
for naught
trudge through this bleary reality
embraced by their water and blood
the tang of metal washes all the salt at the corner of my lips
they shan't bleed for naught
you bleed
draped over skin
worn like a badge
sought as a bounty
slung like a shield
so that you can turn deaf to the pleas
you save your tears for those who won't shed them for you
you shed your blood for those trying to drain it from you
blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb
the bloodless
the barren
doom
