Work Text:
It was March 24, 2025—the day Kwon Soonyoung and Jeon Wonwoo would unite.
They chose a garden wedding with only their closest relatives and friends.
It was their dream to have a garden wedding. The venue was adorned with a variety of flowers, personally chosen by Soonyoung. Wooden seats were neatly arranged for the guests, and the altar—where their vows would be exchanged—was decorated with flowers and heart-shaped greenery. The guests wore colorful gowns and suits, as the couple wanted their wedding to be bright and full of life. With the fresh air surrounding them and birds chirping in the distance, it was the perfect setting, especially as they eagerly awaited the sunset.
Wonwoo and Soonyoung were in their respective rooms, chatting with their groomsmen. Wonwoo was with his best men and longtime friends from high school: Jihoon, Hansol, and Seokmin. Meanwhile, Soonyoung spent time with his high school friend, Seungkwan, and his childhood best friend, Jun
The group reminisced about their high school days—how they met, how Wonwoo and Soonyoung's relationship blossomed, and how their love grew stronger over the years.
———
But everything changed when they met Seungkwan, their newfound friend. Despite being an academic achiever, Seungkwan constantly ranted about school.
But Seungkwan also showed them the hidden joys of being in Section A. Behind the rigorous academics, the so-called "achievers" were just kids who wanted to enjoy their youth.
After stressful weeks, they found moments of peace—some would nap in the corners of the room, others played secret card games, and on certain days, they all sang together, with Jihoon on guitar and Seokmin leading the chorus.
There were also times when, like every other section, they begged for deadline extensions, made up excuses, or tried to charm their teachers.
And what made them the envy of other sections? Every Friday, they shared lunch together, bringing their own meals and eating as a family.
That camaraderie, that sense of belonging, made Soonyoung and Jun want to stay. It made them realize that even in a competitive environment, they could still be kids who dreamed, got tired, and simply wanted to enjoy life.
"We became a family," Seungkwan said.
———
"Kung hindi talaga dahil sa akin, baka nagrebelde na kayo noon eh," Seungkwan teased, adjusting Soonyoung's ribbon.
Jun rolled his eyes. "Sus! Napa-proud ka na naman porket ikaw lang unang friend namin eh."
"Wala kayong choice, ako pinili niyong maging groupmate. Tsaka alam ko na mga hidden agenda niyo noon," Seungkwan revealed.
Jun and Soonyoung exchanged confused looks.
"Pinagsasabi mo diyan?" Jun asked.
"Hindi ba’t crush mo na noon si Jihoon dahil sa kakagitara niya? Tapos lagi mong sinasabi na kuhang-kuha ka niya. Baklang ‘to!" Seungkwan teased. "At ikaw naman," he turned to Soonyoung, "may mga nakaw-tingin ka pa kay Wonwoo dati. Subukan mong i-deny, tutoktokan talaga kita. Hindi ko lang alam kung crush mo siya or ano, pero 'yung mga nakaw-tingin mo, may laman eh. Parang nacu-curious ka kung sino siya, anong klaseng tao siya."
The two men were stunned. Seungkwan had always been observant, and honestly, they had both been captivated by Jihoon and Wonwoo ever since they became part of Section A.
Especially when they joined the Battle of the Bands.
———
It was their Foundation Week, and tonight was the much-anticipated Battle of the Bands.
Wonwoo and Soonyoung were both Grade 9 students and classmates, though they weren’t particularly close.
Wonwoo was part of the band representing their section. He played the bass guitar, while his bandmates included Seokmin, the main vocalist; Jeonghan, the lead guitarist; Joshua, the rhythm guitarist; Seungkwan, the lead vocalist and keyboardist; and Jihoon, the drummer. Together, they called themselves Ma~Estro.
Basta!
Beside him, his friend Jun was screaming and cheering loudly, almost deafening Soonyoung in the process.
“Ano ba ‘yan, Junhui! Hinay-hinay naman sa eardrums ko. Hindi pa nga sila natatawag, oh,” Soonyoung grumbled, covering his ear.
“Eh ano naman! Excited na ako sa pagtatambol ni Jihoon, my loves, ‘no!” Jun shot back, then leaned in mischievously. “Palibhasa kasi hindi mo ma-cheer nang maayos ang crush mo. Takot kang malaman ng iba.”
“Hindi ko nga siya crush! Curious lang ako sa kanya!” Soonyoung corrected quickly, but his cheeks burned slightly.
Yeah, right. He could deny it all he wanted, but he knew Jun had a point. He was curious about Wonwoo—because that's what a crush does to you.
Sure, he knew Wonwoo as the top student, the student leader, the guy everyone admired. But he wanted to know him beyond that. Mas malalim, mas malapit.
Pero alam niyang hindi sila magkakasundo. Never.
So, when Seungkwan mentioned that Wonwoo had joined their band, Soonyoung felt something stir inside him—excitement, giddiness. He would see him play, be part of the music, and let loose.
When Ma~Estro was called, their classmates erupted into cheers, including Soonyoung. He found himself screaming along, waving his hands, feeling the electrifying energy of the crowd.
“Oh, partner, pakinggan mo naman ang hiyawan ng Grade 9, Section A! Ang lalakas!” one of the emcees remarked.
“Kaya nga, eh! Tignan mo, ang laki ng ngiti ng kanilang adviser,” the other responded, pointing toward their teacher, who was beaming with pride.
After a few moments of setting up, Ma~Estro began their performance.

The band members immersed themselves in the music, exchanging glances and enjoying every beat. Wonwoo let his fingers glide across the strings of his bass, his body syncing with the rhythm.
As he surveyed the audience, despite the dim lighting, he could clearly make out the excited faces of his classmates singing along.
[Tell me something
When you sing and when you laugh
Why do I always photograph
My heart flying way above the clouds?]
Then, his eyes landed on someone.
A familiar face.
Soonyoung.
His lips moved, mouthing the lyrics softly as he stared—directly at him.
For a split second, Wonwoo almost missed a note.
He quickly looked at his bandmates, who were still lost in the music. He glanced back at Soonyoung, and to his surprise, the gaze remained. Intense, unwavering. As if he was studying him, dissecting every strum of his fingers, every movement he made.
Bakit siya tinititigan nito? Bakit parang… humahanga? And why did it make Wonwoo’s stomach twist in the strangest way?
Wonwoo had a hundred questions running through his head, but none of them had clear answers.
But one thing was certain—
That gaze was all too familiar.
Because almost every day, he would feel it. Those same eyes, watching him from across the room, lingering for just a moment longer than necessary.
Did it make him uncomfortable? Maybe at first. But he had gotten used to it. Hinayaan niya na lang. Besides, he couldn’t blame Soonyoung for staring. Gwapo naman siya.
Or maybe… the song meant something to Soonyoung. After all, every time they had practice, he was always there.
At first, Wonwoo thought he was just accompanying Jun. Or maybe supporting Seungkwan. But as the days went by, he noticed that even when Jun wasn’t there, Soonyoung still was. Sometimes, he’d sit by the door, sometimes outside, pretending to be busy on his phone but still stealing glances.
And now, here they were—on stage, the music enveloping them, their silent exchange continuing.
Their performance ended, snapping them both out of whatever moment they were having. Ma~Estro made their way back to their classmates, accepting cheers and high-fives.
Wonwoo scanned the crowd, looking for someone.
But Soonyoung was gone.
A few seconds later, Jun approached him, looking oddly nervous.
“Uhm… ahhh… Wonwoo, pwede bang magpa-picture sa’yo?” Jun asked hesitantly.
Wonwoo nodded, confused. They were walking back to their classroom when he overheard voices inside.
“Hotdog naman, Kwan! Ayoko ngaaaaa, nakakahiya! Huwag na kasi!”
“Hoy! Wala naman malisya eh! Magpapapicture lang! Ang KJ mo naman! Tapos paano kung napansin niya yung titig mo sakanya?”
“Basta, ayoko. Bahala kayo diyan.”
The door swung open, and Wonwoo suddenly came face-to-face with Soonyoung—his brows furrowed, lips pursed in irritation, and the slightest hint of pink dusting his cheeks.
Seungkwan peeked from behind, grinning and waving enthusiastically.
For a moment, silence stretched between them.
Then, Seungkwan pushed them both into the room. “O siya, siya! Magpapicture na tayo!”
Wonwoo had a feeling where this was going, but he remained silent. Meanwhile, Soonyoung looked like he wanted the ground to swallow him whole.
“Wonwoo, pwede ba kayong magpicture ni Soonyoung?” Seungkwan asked innocently.
Wonwoo glanced at Soonyoung, noting the discomfort on his face. “Kung gusto naman niya, okay lang.”
Seungkwan leaned in and whispered, “Actually, siya ang nagsabi last practice. Napaurong lang siya tonight kasi mangyayari na. Pero trust me, okay lang ‘yan.”
“Oka—” Before Wonwoo could even finish, they were pulled together, standing side by side.
Wonwoo was just inches taller, and for some reason, that fact made Soonyoung even more nervous.
Jun and Seungkwan laughed. “Uy, loosen up! Classmates lang naman kayo, walang malisya.”
Walang malisya? Maybe for Wonwoo.
Pero para kay Soonyoung? Meron.
Because standing this close, all he could think about was how perfectly their height difference lined up for a forehead kiss.
And worse—
What if, after this, things became even more awkward between them?
———
But it’s not. Honestly, after that night, they became friends. Wonwoo and Soonyoung were finally talking!
Hansol teased, earning a light slap on the arm from Wonwoo.
“Oo nga! Kada may groupings tapos magkasama kayo, ipapadaan mo pa talaga sa amin ha,” dagdag pa ni Seokmin, sabay tawa.
If you asked his high school self if he could imagine a life with Soonyoung, he would hesitate to answer. Why?
Ang tali-talino nga, pero wala namang alam sa sariling nararamdaman,” Jihoon remarked, shaking his head while fixing his necktie.
“Right! Kung hindi pa natin kinidnap, hindi pa gagalaw love story nila,” Hansol laughed, giving Wonwoo another playful slap on the arm.
———
Today was the third day of their Foundation Week. Everyone was busy—especially Wonwoo, the student council president.
Together with Chan, the student council secretary, he made rounds of the different booths prepared by the students. Their main task was to ensure that all booths followed the protocols set by the school. To his relief, walang lumabag sa mga patakaran.
His teachers and classmates encouraged him to run for his position, at wala na rin siyang nagawa nang ipasa sakaniya ang lahat ng responsibilidad ng dating presidente. He just accepted it and embraced his new role—after all, he loved helping other students and keeping himself busy.
Keeping himself busy with other things = avoiding his growing feelings for Soonyoung.
They sat on the benches malapit sa mga booth kung saan nagtitinda ng pagkain at kung ano-ano pa. It was a peaceful day for him.
“Hoy! Hoy! Ano ’to?! ‘San niyo ko dadalhin?” Wonwoo screamed when a group of guys forcibly covered his eyes.
He had no idea where they were taking him, but the route felt familiar—parang pabalik lang sila sa classroom nila.
They made him sit before finally removing his blindfold. Tahimik ang buong silid, tila wala siyang ibang kasama.
A few minutes later, he heard someone else screaming like they had just been kidnapped too. Then, may naramdaman siyang tao sa harapan niya. Before they could remove their blindfolds, a guitar started playing.
[Antukin by Rico Blanco]
Wonwoo looked around and finally saw the room’s setup—white telas hanging from the walls, fake flowers scattered everywhere, and a large signage that read: "Marriage Booth."
His eyes darted to Jihoon and Seokmin, who were grinning while singing along with their classmates.
His gaze finally landed on Soonyoung, who was looking at him with wide, glistening eyes, cheeks as red as an apple. Sobrang cute. Sobrang sarap hawakan ng pisngi.
Then, someone cleared their throat. Wonwoo turned to see Hansol standing at the podium, holding a mic, a mischievous grin on his face as he imitated a priest conducting a wedding ceremony.
Once again, Hansol cleared his throat, standing at the side—well, he was the host of their so-called wedding ceremony.*
“Good day, ladies and gentlemen! Before we hear their heartfelt wedding vows, I would like you all to listen to this song, dedicated to our lovely wedding couple,” he announced, earning a synchronized side-eye from the two.
Jihoon, Seokmin, Jeonghan, Joshua, Seungkwan, and Jun stood at the side, holding their instruments. This was not part of the original plan—rather, it was a surprise from them.
“Hello po! I am Seokmin, the main vocalist of our band, Ma~Estro. Kasama ko po si Jihoon, our drummer, Joshua, our rhythm guitarist, Jeonghan, our main guitarist, Seungkwan, our keyboardist and vocalist, at syempre, si Jun, our bass guitarist-slash-substitute,” Seokmin introduced enthusiastically. “Actually, this wasn’t part of the ceremony. Hahaha! Napagdesisyunan lang namin idagdag with the help of our favorite Tita—Tita Kwon!” He waved at Soonyoung’s mom, who smiled proudly at them.
“Hindi naman po kasi papayag itong dalawa eh. Ayaw daw nila ng dagdag gastos. Hindi ata nila naisip na one of our friends here, Jihoon, has all the instruments—walang bayad ‘yan!” Seokmin happily added, making space for the guests to glance at Jihoon, who only smiled in response.
“So, bago pa tayo tumagal, let me introduce the song we chose just for you two. Surprise! Hindi na siya Rico Blanco song—baka mainis pa kayo sa amin. Hahaha! Dati kasi, nung Grade 10 kami, may marriage booth kami at ‘Antukin’ ang kinanta namin. Ewan din po namin kung bakit ‘yun ang napili namin. Hahaha!” Seokmin laughed, making everyone join in.
“Kaya ngayon, we chose a song that we know you’ll love—something that truly captures your love for each other.”
With that, he took a deep breath and started to sing.
[Intertwine ft. The Ridleys by Over October]
As the song began, Wonwoo and Soonyoung looked at each other, smiles stretching from ear to ear. With every lyric, every tone, and every melody, memories of their high school days came rushing back. Soonyoung felt his eyes sting, his emotions overwhelming him.
This was their story, their moment—one that would stay with them forever.
The song was slowly fading as the priest instructed them to start saying their vows. Wonwoo was the first to speak.
He cleared his throat before starting:
"Uhm, hello, everyone. Hello, my love. Honestly, hindi ako nag-prepare, I’m sorry. Sabi ko kasi, kaya ko naman. I just reminisced about all our memories, from the start up to this day. And you know what I realized? I realized that you make my life more meaningful and beautiful.
Noong grade school ako, never ko naman inisip ang magkaroon ng crush or love life kasi masyado akong busy sa pag-aaral at sa sarili kong mundo. But then, nung nakita kita noong first day ng high school, wandering around, looking for your room, may naramdaman ako sa puso ko—hindi ko alam, wala akong ka-ide-ideya kung ano 'yon.
From that day on, lagi kitang nakikita sa corridor—kumakain, nakaupo, nakikipagkwentuhan sa classmates mo, sumisigaw kay Jun, at kung anu-ano pa.
Ganito pala kapag gwapo."
The guests laughed, while Soonyoung pouted at his future husband’s antics.
"Sasabihin ko sanang joke eh, kaso araw-araw mo namang sinasabi na ang gwapo ko," Wonwoo added, making everyone laugh harder.
"Going back—Grade 8, medyo hesitant pa tayo noon, parang we were just testing the waters. But when we reached Grade 9, that was when everything started to bloom.
Isa sa mga hindi ko makakalimutan ay ang nangyari sa Battle of the Bands. That night, it changed the trajectory of my life. Noong nakita kita sa rehearsals at sa mismong performance, I imagined my life being with you. Noong nagpa-picture tayo for the first time, with the help of Jun and Seungkwan, doon nagbago ang lahat—doon nagbago ang universe ko.
Gaya nga ng kantang 'Your Universe' ni Rico Blanco. When we became close, I felt like pinapasok mo ako sa sarili mong mundo.
Your universe is your safe place that you let me in. Your universe is full of life and dreams. Your universe makes me feel the happiest, the comfiest, and teaches me how to live life. Your universe is where I can go when everything becomes overwhelming and hard. Your universe is where I can run to when I’m too tired to continue. Your universe makes me Jeon Wonwoo. Your universe is what I love.
I love your universe, My Love.
And I can’t see myself leaving it or finding another one. I love it so much because you inspire me the most.
Honestly, hindi ko alam kung bakit tingin ng tao na ako ang standard student noong high school, when in fact, this person—you, Kwon Soonyoung—should be the kind of person people should look up to.
He enjoys life to the fullest. I’ve known him for so long, pero kahit kailan hindi ako nagsawang panoorin kung paano niya ipinamumuhay ang buhay niya. He’s so expressive—when he’s happy, he shows it. He smiles so widely, reaching the universe. He vibrates when he’s excited. When he’s tired, he becomes quiet. He’s not afraid to be vulnerable. He cries when he needs to. He embraces every emotion without hesitation. He is so brave, and I love him for that.
And I must say—I am the luckiest person to be loved by you, to witness everything in your life.
I love you, My Kwon Soonyoung. I can't wait to explore life with you and build our little, happy family.
Mahal na mahal kita."
Wonwoo ended his speech, wiping his tears and smiling so wide from the happiness he felt at that moment. The guests were all crying—especially Soonyoung, who couldn't hold back his emotions.
They paused for two minutes to breathe and calm themselves. Soonyoung inhaled and exhaled, trying his best to steady his emotions while Wonwoo gently wiped away his tears, his soon-to-be husband offering silent comfort.
When Soonyoung signaled that he was ready, he took another deep breath.
"Hi, hahaha. Paano ko ba susundan 'yung sinabi mo? Parang naikuwento mo na lahat, eh."
Soonyoung joked, earning a laugh from Wonwoo.
"Eme, eto na nga."
"Hi, Wonwoo, my future husband. Ihhh! Wala pa nga pero kinikilig na ako agad. Hahaha, arte naman. Eme."
He grinned, his nervous excitement evident in his voice.
"So, nasabi mo naman na lahat, but I just want to share something—a moment from our high school days that I will never, ever forget. I’m pretty sure everyone here remembers what happened.
Nakakakilig kaya mapanood na may ikinakasal—weddings have always been my favorite part of life.
Soonyoung laughed and looked at their friends, who immediately pointed at Seokmin, exposing him as the mastermind.
"But after that, I kept playing the song over and over again hanggang halos dumugo na ang tenga ng ate ko sa kakarinig nito tuwing umaga. Every time I listened to it, I couldn’t help but remember you, standing in front of me, repeating the promises and ‘I do’s we exchanged. Ewan ko ba, masyado ata akong kinikilig sa’yo to the point na inisip ko pang sana totoo na lang ‘yon. Sana may kahit kaunting naramdaman ka rin para sa akin. Kung dati sinasabi ko sa sarili kong ayos lang kahit hindi mo ako magustuhan, with our interactions—when I got to know you more—something inside me changed. I became selfish, greedier, more possessive. I wanted you. I liked you. I loved you.
I always imagined you in my life— You and me, living happily. You and me, spending our lives together. You and me, achieving our dreams. You and me, in our own little world.
He glanced at Wonwoo, eyes brimming with love before continuing.
"After that marriage booth, we became more than just friends. We became the lovers I had always imagined us to be. And at that moment, I finally understood why our friends chose ‘Antukin’ for us.
Our relationship… hindi naman perpekto. Hindi naman puro sweet-sweet. May pait, alat… at kaunting spice. But you know what? Despite all the conflicts, we always find our way back to each other. I still come home to you, wake up beside you. You are the last person I see before my day ends, my food buddy, my everything.
Kahit anong pagdaanan natin, iwan man tayo ng lahat, talikuran man tayo ng mundo—mananatili tayong dalawa.
Soonyoung’s voice cracked slightly, but he smiled through it.
"I love you to the fullest, my love. I love loving you. Thank you for being the person you are and for choosing to love me in return. Salamat sa simpleng marriage booth na naging daan para matupad ang dream wedding na matagal ko nang pinapangarap. Thank you for letting me cross another thing off my bucket list—at sa marami pang ibang susunod sa mahabang listahan ko."
He took Wonwoo’s hands in his, squeezing them gently.
"Thank you for spending your years with me. Ikaw at ikaw lang."
The wedding ceremony ended with a passionate kiss, one that sent their friends and family into fits of kilig and joyous cheers.
Wonwoo and Soonyoung had finally intertwined their lives and hearts—embracing all the admiration they held for each other, taking in their fears and uncertainties, and promising to hold each other for the rest of their lives.
From that marriage booth in their youth to kissing under the moonlight as they embarked on a new journey, Wonwoo and Soonyoung had become one.
