Shut Up

Summary:

Natasha teases Maria with cheesy pick-up lines, but when Maria finally reacts, it’s in a way Natasha never expected.

Work Text:

The mission had been a straightforward extraction—at least, it was supposed to be. Infiltrate, retrieve the stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. tech, and get out before anyone noticed. But, as always, when you added Natasha Romanoff into the mix, “straightforward” was just a suggestion.

Maria Hill crouched behind a stack of crates, her comm buzzing in her ear. “Natasha, do you have the package?”

“Of course, baby. You doubting me?” Natasha’s voice was all smug amusement.

Maria closed her eyes for a long, suffering sigh. Not now, Romanoff.

“Oh, Commander, you’re so formal. Say my name. Say it like you mean it,” Natasha purred through the comms.

Maria refused to dignify that with a response. She peeked around the crate, spotting Natasha dangling upside down from a balcony—because of course she was—hacking into the vault while simultaneously messing with Maria.

“You know, my love, if you wanted to see me hanging around, you could’ve just asked.”

Maria ignored her. “ETA?”

“Two minutes. Faster if you promise me a date.”

“Five minutes, then,” Maria deadpanned.

“Ouch. Ice cold, baby. But I like a challenge.”

Maria really should’ve asked for backup.

The extraction itself was smooth—until Natasha decided to make things fun.

As they sprinted toward the exit, alarms blaring behind them, Natasha kept up her relentless teasing.

“You know, Hill, we make a great team. We should see what else were—”

“Focus, Romanoff.”

“Oh, I am focused. On your—”

“I swear, Natasha—”

”—eyes. They’re so pretty when you’re annoyed.”

Maria clenched her jaw so hard she could have cracked a tooth.

They made it to the quinjet in record time, Natasha grinning ear to ear like a damn Cheshire cat. As the ramp closed behind them, Maria ripped off her comm earpiece with a little more force than necessary and turned to debrief the team.

Maria inhaled slowly. Exhaled

But Natasha, ever the little shit, kept pushing.

“Are you a magician? Because whenever I look at you, everyone else disappears.”

Silence.

“Nothing? Come on, that was gold.”

Maria stared blankly at her.

Natasha groaned dramatically, dragging a hand down her face. “Ugh, you’re killing me, Hill. Just one reaction? A tiny blush? An eye roll? Anything?”

Maria just blinked.

Defeated, Natasha sighed and turned to walk away, mumbling, “Fine. I’ll stop. No fun if you don’t play alo—”

And then, Maria grabbed her by her belt loops and yanked her in close.

Natasha barely had time to gasp before Maria’s lips crashed against hers.

And holy hell.

Natasha’s brain short-circuited. There was kissing—Maria was kissing her. Maria’s lips were soft, warm, and just the right kind of firm, like she’d been holding back for way too long.

She barely had time to process before Maria started pulling away, and—absolutely not.

Natasha grabbed the front of Maria’s tac vest and dragged her back into another kiss, this one even deeper, even hungrier. She melted into the warmth, her hands fisting the fabric as if letting go would end the moment.

And then, just when she thought she’d won—

Maria trailed a few slow, teasing kisses down her neck, and Natasha whined.

WHINED.

Her entire soul left her body.

And then Maria smirked against her skin, whispered a husky, “Shut up,” winked, and walked away like nothing happened.

Leaving Natasha standing there, breathless, lips tingling, mind blank, soul no longer intact.

She stared after Maria, mouth hanging open.

A low whistle broke the silence.

Natasha turned slowly, still in a daze, to find Clint leaning against the wall, arms crossed, smirking like the absolute menace he was.

He opened his mouth to say something—

“Shut up, bird brain,” Natasha snapped.

Clint snickered.
