What A Guest

Summary:

When your (spider-man) boyfriend keeps knocking on your dorm room window at 8 p.m.

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

You find yourself in your dorm room—alone—since your roommate is at her boyfriend’s place.

As you busy yourself searching for articles as sources for your essay, old song you haven’t heard in a while blasts in your ears, filling the quiet room.

“Then you’re left in the dust. Unless I stuck by ya…”

Knockknocknock.

“You’re the sunflower, I think your love would be too much…”

Knockknocknock.

You raise a brow and pause the music from your laptop. You swear you just heard someone knocking on your window.

Knockknocknock.

Rising from your seat, you pull back the curtain—only to find your boyfriend, waving one of his hands to you while the other is pressed against your window, still in his Spider-Man costume with a backpack slung over his shoulders.

Yes, the anonymous superhero praised by the people of this city is your boyfriend. The cute guy with glasses you kept running into at the convenience store near your faculty building during your freshman year has held a special place in your heart for almost two years now.

“Satoru!” You exclaim as you let him inside.

He pulls off his mask, revealing a face that looks as if it had been blessed by Aphrodite herself. A smirk tugs at his lips when he notices your pupils dilating.

“Hi.”

You blink, momentarily startled, mentally slapping yourself for acting like this is the first time you’ve seen your boyfriend.

“Hi— I mean, Satoru, you can’t just knock like that! What if my roommate was here?”

He chuckles as a response before stealing a quick kiss from you, sending butterflies to your stomach and heat to your cheeks. But before you can react, he speaks.

“I brought something for you.” He says as he removes one of the backpack straps from his shoulder.

“Oh yeah? What is it?” You ask, trying to peek as he rummages through his backpack.

But as he turns away, your eyes immediately land on a dark bruise forming along his jaw.

“Satoru?” You call, making him look at you again.

“Hm?”

You point at his jaw. “Your jaw is bruised! Satoru, sit down.”

“No, no. I’m fine! I swe—”

One sharp look from you, and he immediately sits down like an obedient puppy. The superhero feared by villains is nothing but a good boy for his girlfriend—kind of funny, isn’t it?

“Ah—ouch!” he grimaces as you press an ice pack to his bruised skin. Your eyes scan his face, and that’s when you notice another bruise—this one near his temple. You know you would’ve noticed it earlier if it wasn’t partially hidden by his hair.

Your lips press into a thin line as you apply the ice pack to the new bruise, causing him to wince again. Worry is written all over your face, and you don’t even try to hide it.

“Satoru, how the hell did you get these? What did you do?”

He chuckles despite the pain and, instead of answering, pulls out a beautiful blue box with “Swarovski” written on it.

“Might or might not have fought some criminals and got this as a ‘thank you.’”

“Satoru…” You whisper, your tears welling up and making your vision slightly blurry.

Your lover chuckles again before reaching for your wrist, his thumb delicately rubbing the skin where he can feel your pulse. “I love you.”

You have loved him for almost two summers now, but you want all of his summers. You want to love him even longer, perhaps... forever.

Notes:

just gotta let this go out of my head...
