Chapter 1: Hints
It was a normal sunset like any other, the majestic rabble rouser was parked in the woods as the both friends that day came up with the idea of camping in the woods because they were really bored and that was the first option that came up when they took a piece of paper out of the maybe pile, while Darnell fixed the suspension of the Rabble Rouser, Buddy was roasting marshmallows on a campfire, or well, burning marshmallows on the campfire because he sucked at roasting marshmallows (Note: the campfire this time was made with real firewood and not with the beaver's house) The sunset was gorgeous but it also indicated that it would soon be dark, which was good for both of them and their night of camping. Buddy didn't like to be left alone with his thoughts while his friend was busy fixing something, so he couldn't think of a better idea than to get his attention. -- Hey, Darnell. He stopped what he was doing and turned to look at the dog. -- Yeah, buddy? Need anything? -- Can I ask you a question? The nervousness in his voice was palpable. -- If you're going to ask me again if the Easter Bunny or the tooth fairy exists, the answer is yes. -- No, no, that's not what I wanted to ask ya. Anyway, thank you for confirming its existence, I was beginning to doubt it. What I really wanted to ask you is ....Do you plan to get married in the future? The ferret was stunned to hear the question, in fact he doubted if what he was hearing was real or just hallucinations, therefore, those were not the questions that his friend usually asked him. In general, he always asked him stupid questions or questions about superficial things. -- O-Oh, well, that's not a question i'd normally expect from you, but if you want to know, the answer is no. -- Really? You don't have anyone special in your life yet? For some reason, he was surprised that someone as handsome and intelligent as Darnell wasn't planning to get married because he sure wasn't short of possible candidates. -- I don't plan on getting married because it would distract me from our races and my work, i guess that's a good reason not to plus i'd hate to get divorced if it doesn't work out. -- I think you're right. Marriage is complicated. -- What about you? Would you like to get married? I'm sure it would make your fans very happy to know that marriage is in your plans. -- Yes, I'd like to get married but not to just any fan or any available person. I would like to marry someone special and like-minded. -- Ohhh, i understand. Well, if you don't need anything else, i'd better get back to work. The albino ferret was a little disappointed by his friend's answer, but to tell the truth he understood, the races weren't going to last forever and they weren't everything in life, sooner or later they would go their separate ways, although he would have liked everything to be like this forever and that they could continue spending time together for life. -- Promise me something, will ya? -- Sure, anything you want, Buddy. He said as he looked between the tires and the body of the truck. -- If we're both single until we're 30, we'll get married. The taller man's words left him speechless and since he couldn't articulate any words, Buddy continued talking with a big blush, which, thanks to the fact that it was already dark was not noticeable. -- Geez, man, you've gone pale, well even paler than ya already are. J-Just forget what I said, okay? It was a dumb thing to say, heh... -- I don't think it was a dumb thing. You caught me by surprise but yeah, i promise if we're not engaged by 30, i promise i'll marry you. Darnell was also a nervous wreck right now but he was trying to continue the conversation normally to avoid making the situation uncomfortable for both of them. -- Oh, Darnell, my sweet shining beacon! You make me the happiest man in the world! The racer rushed to hug him. -- Besides, according to studies, best friends who marry each other are less likely to divorce. -- Sure, haha, you betcha. He sank his face into Buddy's chest as he hugged him too. After that the evening passed normally, they focused on the present, the here and now, and each other's company all they both needed was to have a fun and carefree night camping.
