so long as it is you,

Work Text:

the sea,

yearns to live,

to witness and enjoy life in all its entirety.

the blue haired girl gazes upon her world— ethereal, yet utterly cruel. she breathes a sigh, her eyes sting— reminiscent of the fires that had burned her very soul.

her vision blurs, and oh,

how she wishes she can stay in this moment forever.

she takes a deep breath in, her chest rising slowly as she can faintly taste the salt in the air; and the breeze, cool and crisp wraps around her as the sun kisses this world, good night, I will see you tomorrow.

the sea, blue with sparks of teal reflect the sun’s last warmth, pushes and pulls against the earth, as if nagging it to come and play, journey with me and see the world beneath, and the earth relents, all too willing to come along, even if it's at the cost of everything—if not you, then who?

beneath her heels, she can feel the sand give way to her weight as she shifts from leg to another, leaving a mark that she was here, breathing and alive…

when sunset eyes open with the will of fire, her breath is taken away,

and it is to the sight of the eventide behind her friend—

“...! …Nix! Helloo?”

The girl waves her hand in front of her… She frowns, concern clouding her teal eyes, as her hand slowly approach her forehead and—

Ah.

“...Lady Zephyr.” Nix slowly greets, thankful as night sets in, hiding the red dust on her cheeks. She takes her hand from her forehead before she could properly assess her temperature, squeezing it reassuringly. “My apologies—”

“Don’t get formal with me—”

“—I got lost in the sight of the sea.”

The girl sighs, slumping slightly as she maneuvers her hand to squeeze her hand back— and her heart jumps— the breeze plays with auburn locks, making a muss out of her hair. She feels the wind in her hair, but it gets caught before it reaches her lungs when teal hues glare at her.

Zephyr raises a hand on her hip, her other hand pointing against her chest. “Lady Nix,”

The said girl’s eyes widened, what is she…?

“how this one wishes that you'd drop the formalities! I do believe, that we are nearing a decade in our friendship, or do you not consider me your compani—”

Nix laughs, so unabashedly and carefree that it startles Zephyr into silence, surprise painting her features as the cheerful melody of her laughter reaches her ears.

The little dramatic act she was playing drifts before it is finished, a gasp escaping Zephyr when Nix smiles at her—small, but oh, all the love and joy is there, playful and so unlike her. She hurriedly ties up the skirt of her dress much like hers, more than willing to play with the sea with her.

Zephyr’s world blurs for a moment as the wind rushes, nearly giddy on her behalf, her hand is warm, held by the most beautiful blue shining in the moonlight fluttering in the wind and she meets the sunset, “Let’s go, then?”

The stars shine in teal hues, staring into the glittering sunset that grows warm.

“Yeah,”

Her expression goes fond,

“To the sea!”

unlike the fire

that burns until its life is naught.

like the earth with the sea,

we yearn for oblivion.
