Chapter Text
On a warm summer morning Monday, had just turned around the corner. Monday, the day everybody hates. The reset of working with the same routine, the constant responsibilities and workload so early in the morning, and the end to a relaxing weekend.
As the alarm clock rang in the dark room with the only source of light coming from the curtains slight opening. The individual occupying the room emerged from their slumber, slightly rising from the blanket, drowning them in bed. The person hit the top on the alarm clock and stretched their joints. The person finished stretching, looked at their alarm clock, and smiled. Everybody hates Mondays except for Emily. Emily loves waking up early for her job and socialising with people. She goes through a day with a large smile on her face and a glittering charm in her eyes.
The girl slowly moved out on their bed and stretched her joints again. She looked at her bed and saw one of her pillows on the floor and her blankets on another side of the bed, looking like a bomb went off in her room. She picked up the pillow residing on her carpet and placed it back on the bed and neatly cleaned up their sleeping quarters, putting all the blankets in a symmetrical square design that slightly covers their pillows.
The girl turned around and headed to her wardrobe, opening up the door with a calculated look, and picked up a white button-up shirt and black trousers. She walked out of her bedroom and into the bathroom and took an 8-minute shower. After she was done in the bathroom, she put a towel around her body, headed back to her bedroom, and got changed. Emily walked over to her desk, looking into the mirror, and put her long, flowing hair into a high ponytail. She put on her black platform shoes. After getting her attire ready, she walked out of her bedroom and slowly crept into the kitchen, where she met her mother cooking food.
"Hey honey, ready for work?" questioned her mother, Sarah, in a low and nurturing tone. Looking over her left shoulder to look at her daughter.
"Ready as I'll ever be," Emily replied in a quick and bubbly tone, her smile not leaving her face once. She moved in a quick motion, and she walked over to the kitchen table.
Sarah placed a plate on the table. The meal consisted of a freshly made pancake with a brown tone with a smiley face formed by a bunch of other food, the grapes being the smile, a strawberry being the nose, and eyes being engraved into the pancake. Emily grabbed a knife and fork and started cutting the pancake up and eating every part. With each piece she put in her mouth, she made an mhh sound, showcasing her delight in the meal. As she put two more pieces in her mouth, she started speaking, "Mum, this is so good," she spoke in delight.
"What have I told you? Don't speak with your mouth full, dear," answered back Sarah in her serious yet joking manner. "Sorry, Mum," Emily spoke in a sincere tone, flicking her wrist on her right arm and picking up a tissue with her left hand to wipe her mouth from any remaining crumbs. She got up from her seat and ran to the bathroom.
As she entered the bathroom, she locked the door and turned the tap on. She grabbed her toothbrush and toothpaste and started brushing her teeth. After she finished in the bathroom, she went to her room to apply her makeup. Emily walked over to her desk, looking into the mirror, and slowly applied eyeliner onto her face and black lipstick onto her lips. After she was done, she smiled into the mirror, winked her right eye, clicked her tongue, and finger-gunned her reflection. As she exited her bedroom, she walked back to the kitchen and hugged her mother before she grabbed her jacket from the coat rack and opened the door to the apartment.
Emily walked down the stairs outside her apartment door, feeling the cool breeze in the air. As she took the final step on the stairs, she took a skip in her step and started humming to herself, smiling as she looked up at the sky.

Emily walked to the front double doors of her workplace and stopped. The blonde took a deep breath and opened the door. Her presence was immediately put to a halt as her nostril was infiltrated by the smell of coffee beans. Her piercing blue eyes scanned around the area, and her smile immediately grew when she saw her colleague, Bellatrix.
Bellatrix is a fellow worker; she has a less enthusiastic expression. Her figure consists of olive skin, with bright blue eyes, a ginger afro, and a scar on her left eye. Bellatrix usually keeps things to herself.
Emily walked up to the counter and greeted Bellatrix with a wave, "Howdy, Bella." Bellatrix was leaning against the counter, her hands in her face, keeping her balance, and looked at Emily with a serious expression, without her frown leaving her face. "Yo," she spoke in a tired manner.
"Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," Emily spoke in a joking manner, sending her colleague a slight eyebrow raise.
Emily stepped into the backrooms and hung her jacket up. She grabbed her hanging apron and tied it around her waist. As she turned around, she saw her employer step out of their office holding paperwork in their hand. Tracy's figure consisted of a bulky appearance with dark skin, grey eyes, and short black hair. Tracy has always been busy with their own personal life but does value their workers and will not hesitate when a customer steps out of line. Emily broke the silence with a soft "Hello, Tracy." In response, all Tracy did was look up from their paperwork and quietly nod their head at their employee.
Emily took a gradual step out of the backrooms and looked over to see Bellatrix with her face on the counter looking like she fell asleep. Emily clapped her hands together. "Welp, looks like it is time to open up, aye Bell?" There was a lack of a response from her colleague, and instead all she got in return was the sound of a loud, annoyed groan.
"Love the enthusiasm; good to know we are on the same page," Emily responded in a quick chirp, rolling her eyes in the process.
Emily walked over to the shop doors and turned the sign over, indicating to the mob outside that the establishment is now OPEN. After the sign was turned, she skipped back over to the counter, placing her hands on the table and putting on her biggest smile.

The day went on like usual; people would come in and buy a drink, but there were also the cases of the over-demanding customers. However, the only difference today was that it was very quiet within the coffee shop.
"One latte with steamed Austrian goat milk for you, sir," Emily chirped after turning around and quickly grabbing the drink from behind.
As soon as the man left, Emily wiped her head and looked over at her colleague. "Are you good?"
Bellatrix was staring into the distance, completely zoned out of reality, until she heard her colleague and then looked in her direction.
"I'm going to kill my brother, I swear." Bellatrix groaned in disgust with a long pronunciation of the letter r at the end of the word swear.
"What has he done now?" Emily questioned in response.
"He brought his gal pal home last night, and the two were playing instruments and would not shut up! He's such a bas..." Bellatrix stopped mid-sentence and looked at her colleague.
Emily's facial expression deflated. "You know I'm a fully grown adult, not some kid, right?
Bellatrix cleared her throat. "Right, sorry."
"But I'm curious what you were going to call him." Emily gave a cheeky smile.
Bellatrix's frown turned into a slight smile. Bellatrix was about to open her mouth before she was interrupted by a faint voice of Tracy in the background: "Bellatrix, could I have some assistance, please?" "Yes, boss," Bellatrix shouted whilst giving a quick salute before walking off into the backrooms.
As soon as Bellatrix left, the bell on the door rang, and Emily quickly turned her head to the door.
"Hi, welcome to Virtues Brew. What can I get you?"
Emily's eyes widened, and her heart skipped a beat when she looked at the figure in the doorway.
