Chapter Text
the morning light filtered through the heavy curtains of sukuna's lair—a surprisingly cozy mansion perched on a rocky, cursed-infested hill. the place was a strange blend of antiquity and modernity. intricately carved walls, an ancient sorcerer-proof barrier, the faint hum of lingering curses in the air. but also... an air fryer. one that sukuna, the king of curses himself, found endlessly amusing to experiment with.
y/n paced in front of the mirror, adjusting the collar of her jacket. her reflection stared back, sharp and impatient. she shoved several cursed tools into hidden pockets, moving with the efficiency of someone who had done this a thousand times. the sharp click of her boots echoed through the halls. "vengeance! get your shoes on or we're leaving without you!" her voice cut through the quiet, sharp enough to make even the most hardened sorcerer hesitate.
from the other room, sukuna's deep, gravelly voice rumbled like distant thunder. "don't raise your voice too much, woman. the brat is mine to discipline."
y/n turned, leveling him with a glare. he leaned lazily against the doorway, four arms crossed, two of them occupied—a half-peeled orange in one hand, a steaming cup of tea in another. as if he had all the time in the world.
"your brat takes after you," y/n shot back. "which means he's stubborn and slow as hell."
before sukuna could respond, vengeance came barreling into the room, mismatched socks on his feet, a suspiciously sticky popsicle clutched in his tiny fingers. his hair was an untamed mess of pink-red, his bright eyes filled with something close to mischief.
"dad!" he called out, tugging on sukuna's pants. "what's 'skibidi'? everyone keeps saying it!"
sukuna blinked. his expression remained unreadable for a moment, the word rolling around his mind like a puzzle piece that refused to fit.
"skibidi?" he repeated, the syllables foreign and absurd in his mouth.
crouching to vengeance's level, he patted the boy's messy hair with one hand while another effortlessly plucked the melting popsicle from his grasp before it could drip onto his cursed tattoos. his red eyes narrowed slightly. "is it some kind of cursed incantation? or a term for slaughter?"
vengeance giggled, completely missing the ominous weight of his father's words. "no, it's from the internet! like... skibidi dop dop dop..." he started mimicking some ridiculous rhythm, throwing in little dance moves for good measure.
sukuna stared. absolute disbelief etched into his features. "this is what children concern themselves with these days?"
y/n sighed, rubbing her temples. "vengeance, if you start chanting that 'skibidi' nonsense in public, don't come crying to me when someone curses you."
uraume entered just then, silent as ever, carrying a tray of food. their voice was calm, measured. "i believe it is a modern trend, my lord. humans seem to find amusement in trivial things."
sukuna scoffed, leaning back. four hands gestured in vague irritation. "trivial things. skibidi. ridiculous."
y/n didn't even dignify that with a response. she was already tying her boots, her mind on more pressing matters. "anyway, we're all going out. i've got errands to run, and since you refuse to let anyone else watch him, he's your responsibility too."
sukuna raised an eyebrow. that cocky smirk returned, slow and sharp. "all of us? you think i have time to waste wandering around with humans?"
y/n arched an eyebrow right back. "we're picking up things we need, sukuna. unless you plan on summoning your magical stockpile of supplies from your heian-era palace, you're coming. you do eat, don't you?"
uraume gave a slight, approving nod. "it will be good to leave the lair for a time, my lord."
sukuna let out a slow exhale. one of his hands tossed vengeance's coat at the boy. "don't expect me to carry your nonsense."
vengeance cheered, already clinging to sukuna's arm. "does that mean we can go to the park after, dad? and you can show me that cool fire trick again?"
"fire trick?" sukuna repeated, momentarily softening. "that wasn't a trick, brat. that was raw, unmatched power."
y/n rolled her eyes as they finally stepped outside. "call it what you want, king of curses, but try not to set anything on fire in front of the regular folks. you're scary enough without the pyrotechnics."
sukuna muttered something under his breath about the absurdity of "skibidi" and humans in general. vengeance danced ahead, already chanting. uraume trailed behind, calm as ever.
just another normal day.
