Summary
As a member of Herme’s family and a favorite of Athena- Odysseus was gifted with symbols of divine protection at a young age. Namely hawk-like legs and owl-like wings and a lion-like tail. With these traits he also got many of the instincts. Many aren’t but some are centered around mating. Ody had to suppress those at Ogygia, tricking his body into thinking it isn’t a good time for chicks. Holding himself underwater until his head spun helped and waterlogged feathers didn't matter when the island itself stopped him from flying too high. He is home but seven years has made denying his instincts a habit. Months after penelope catches the harmful habit, he is able to feel safe enough to let them kick in. She delights in indulging him the way she would when they were newlyweds.
