Chapter Text
It was a sunny afternoon, and the park was bustling with families, couples, and the occasional dog running around happily. Jungkook had dragged Jin out of the house for some fresh air after weeks of rehearsals and tight schedules. Jin had been reluctant at first, preferring to stay inside and enjoy his comfort zone, but Jungkook's persistence always won him over.
"Come on, Jin hyung! It's such a nice day. You need to get out more," Jungkook had said, grinning as he tugged at Jin's arm. Jin had given him a resigned sigh but allowed himself to be dragged out nonetheless.
Now, they were sitting on a soft, grassy patch under the shade of a large tree. Jungkook had brought his camera along, as he always did, eager to capture the beauty of nature and the fleeting moments. Jin, on the other hand, was content to just enjoy the moment, lying back on the grass with his hands behind his head. The peaceful ambiance was a welcome change from their hectic lives.
"Hyung, look at this," Jungkook suddenly called, his voice filled with excitement. He was holding his camera out in front of Jin, his eyes bright with amusement. "You look like you're about to fall asleep already."
Jin lazily opened one eye and smirked. "I am, Kook. I'm just taking a nap. You're the one who's always running around with a camera in your hand."
"But you look so handsome when you’re just relaxed like this," Jungkook teased, snapping a quick picture before Jin could protest. "I need to capture every moment of it."
Jin laughed softly, his heart warming at how much Jungkook seemed to enjoy these little things. "You really love taking pictures of me, huh?"
"Of course," Jungkook replied with a grin, settling beside Jin on the grass. "You're the most beautiful person in my life, hyung. You make everything more fun."
Jin's cheeks flushed at the unexpected compliment, and he couldn’t help but reach over and ruffle Jungkook's hair affectionately. "You’re too cheesy, Kook," he teased, though his smile revealed that he was touched.
Jungkook just laughed and leaned into Jin’s side, resting his head against his shoulder. "I’m serious, hyung. You're my everything."
Jin’s heart fluttered at the sincerity in Jungkook's voice. He wasn’t sure if it was the soft breeze, the warmth of the sun, or just Jungkook being his usual sweet self, but he couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace.
"Alright, alright, enough of the cheesy lines," Jin chuckled, but he was grinning, his heart full. "But I like spending time with you, Kook."
Jungkook looked up at him, his eyes soft and affectionate. "Me too, hyung. It’s my favorite thing in the world."
As the afternoon sun began to dip lower, casting a golden glow over the park, the two of them stayed there, basking in each other’s company, content and happy. It was simple, but it was perfect.
The golden light of the setting sun made everything feel even more peaceful, the whole park almost glowing in the warmth of the afternoon. Jungkook stretched out beside Jin, resting his head on the older man’s chest, listening to his heartbeat. Jin’s soft, steady breathing was a lullaby in itself, and Jungkook felt himself drift further into a peaceful state.
“Hyung,” Jungkook started, his voice quiet and soft as he turned his head to look at Jin, “Do you ever feel like time is moving too fast?”
Jin chuckled lightly, tilting his head down to meet Jungkook’s gaze. “Time always moves too fast when you're busy. But when you're with someone like you, Kook… it feels like time stands still.”
Jungkook’s eyes sparkled, the warmth in his chest growing with each word Jin spoke. “I feel the same way. Whenever I’m with you, it’s like nothing else matters.”
Jin's heart skipped a beat at the sincerity in Jungkook’s voice. His fingers instinctively ran through Jungkook’s hair, smoothing it out as he looked down at the younger man with a soft smile. "You really know how to make someone feel special."
Jungkook grinned mischievously. "It’s easy when I have such a special hyung to look after." He snuggled closer, enjoying the comfort of Jin’s embrace.
They stayed like that for a few moments, the sound of distant laughter and birds chirping surrounding them, but neither of them felt the need to say anything more. They didn’t need words; the quiet shared between them was enough.
After a while, Jungkook sat up suddenly, excitement sparking in his eyes. “Hey, hyung! Let’s go get ice cream!”
Jin raised an eyebrow, looking at him playfully. “You just want an excuse to eat something sweet, don’t you?”
Jungkook gave him an exaggerated pout, his eyes twinkling. “How can you deny me, hyung? It’s the perfect way to end a perfect day.”
Jin rolled his eyes but couldn’t help the smile tugging at his lips. “You’re impossible.”
But before Jin could protest further, Jungkook had already grabbed his hand and was pulling him to his feet, his infectious energy impossible to resist.
“Come on! We’ll race to the ice cream stand,” Jungkook challenged, already taking a few steps back.
Jin laughed and shook his head, feeling a lighthearted joy bubbling up inside him. “Alright, alright. You know I’m faster than you, right?”
Jungkook smirked, teasing, “We’ll see about that, hyung!”
And before Jin could say anything else, Jungkook was off, laughing as he ran down the park path. Jin took a moment to watch him go, the younger man’s carefree laughter making his heart ache with affection. With a fond sigh, Jin jogged after him, feeling his own excitement rise at the thought of their silly race.
When they reached the ice cream stand, both of them breathless from laughing and running, Jin was the first to catch his breath and grab a cone.
"See? I told you I was faster," Jin said, smirking as he held his ice cream up triumphantly.
Jungkook pouted playfully, crossing his arms. "Just wait until next time. I’ll beat you, hyung."
“Sure you will, Kook,” Jin teased, handing him a cone with a smile. “But let’s just enjoy the ice cream for now, alright?”
Jungkook grinned and nodded, licking his ice cream in satisfaction. “This is perfect. Best day ever.”
Jin couldn’t help but agree. Even though it was just an ordinary afternoon—one spent eating ice cream, running around, and laughing—there was something magical about being with Jungkook. He felt happy, content, and loved.
As they sat on a nearby bench, enjoying their ice cream and each other’s company, the sun began to dip beneath the horizon, casting a pinkish-orange hue across the sky. The world seemed to slow down as they sat together, and Jin realized that it wasn’t just the moment that was perfect—it was the person he was with.
“You know, Kook,” Jin said, his voice softer now as he gazed out at the sunset, “I think I could do this every day with you.”
Jungkook’s eyes softened as he leaned his head against Jin’s shoulder, savoring the closeness. “I’d like that too, hyung. I’d like that a lot.”
And in that moment, surrounded by the soft glow of the evening and the warmth of each other’s presence, they knew that it didn’t matter what else was going on in their lives. As long as they had these quiet moments together, everything else could wait.
The ice cream was long gone, and the sky had darkened to a soft twilight. The stars were beginning to peek out, and the park, now quieter, felt like a secret shared just between the two of them. Jin and Jungkook were still sitting on the bench, side by side, watching as the first stars twinkled in the sky.
Jungkook stretched his arms above his head with a yawn. “I don’t want to go home yet, hyung. This day is too perfect.”
Jin, still leaning back, smiled softly. “Me neither. It’s been a while since I’ve just been able to relax like this.”
Jungkook glanced at him, eyes soft and full of affection. “You work so hard, hyung. Sometimes, I wish you’d let yourself have more days like this.”
Jin chuckled, the sound warm and full of love. “I’m too old for this sort of thing, Kook. I can’t keep up with your energy. But it’s nice to have days where I can just be with you.”
Jungkook nudged him playfully with his shoulder. “You’re not too old, hyung. You’re just perfect the way you are.”
Jin laughed at the way Jungkook’s voice had turned serious and affectionate. “You really do know how to make someone feel good.”
Jungkook turned to look at him, and their eyes met, the usual teasing glint replaced with something softer, more genuine. “I mean it, hyung. I don’t say things I don’t mean.”
The night air was cool now, and the soft rustling of the leaves was the only sound between them. It felt as though everything else in the world had quieted, leaving just the two of them in their little bubble of comfort.
Jungkook stood up abruptly, stretching his legs. “I have an idea! Let’s go for a walk.”
Jin raised an eyebrow. “A walk? Where to?”
Jungkook grinned mischievously. “To the lake. I want to see the stars reflected in the water.”
Jin glanced at the sky. The stars were clearer now, and the moon hung low, casting a gentle light over the park. “Sounds like a romantic cliché,” Jin teased.
Jungkook gave him a pointed look. “You’re not allowed to make fun of me. We’re doing it, hyung.”
With a sigh and an exaggerated roll of his eyes, Jin stood up. “Alright, alright. Lead the way.”
They walked down the winding path that led to the small lake in the center of the park, the quiet night air settling around them. Every now and then, Jungkook would glance over at Jin, his heart swelling with the simple happiness of being close. Even in the stillness of the night, the silence between them felt comfortable. It was as if they didn’t need words to feel connected.
When they finally reached the lake, the water glowed faintly under the moonlight, reflecting the stars above in a way that made the world feel impossibly beautiful. Jungkook sat down at the edge of the water, his legs stretched out in front of him. “It’s perfect, right?” he asked quietly, looking over at Jin with a soft, contented smile.
Jin sat beside him, his fingers brushing against Jungkook’s. He smiled, his heart feeling lighter than it had in days. “It really is, Kook.”
They sat there for a while, watching the stars and the reflection of the moon in the water. The only sounds were the soft ripple of the lake and the distant calls of night birds. Every so often, Jungkook would point out a particularly bright star, and Jin would laugh, pretending to be overly impressed, though inside, he felt incredibly lucky.
Finally, as the coolness of the night started to settle deeper, Jin turned to Jungkook, his voice gentle. “I’m glad you dragged me out here today, Kook.”
Jungkook looked at him, his face soft and filled with warmth. “I’m glad you came, hyung. It means a lot to me.”
Jin smiled and squeezed his shoulder. “You really are something else, you know that?”
Jungkook smirked. “I know. But I’m your something else.”
Jin’s heart fluttered at that simple but sincere statement. It was something so small but so meaningful—Jungkook’s way of saying that no matter what, he was there for Jin, and Jin was there for him.
“Yeah,” Jin said quietly, “You’re my something else, Kook.”
For a moment, they just sat there, the two of them leaning into each other’s presence. The world outside of the park and the calm lake seemed far away, as though nothing else mattered in that space and time but the two of them, simply being together.
Jungkook’s voice broke the silence. “I’ll never get tired of days like this, hyung. Never.”
Jin smiled and turned his head to meet Jungkook’s gaze. “Me neither, Kook. Me neither.”
The night was calm, and the air had a cool crispness that made Jin pull his jacket a little tighter around himself. Jungkook, ever the energetic one, had no problem with the chill, but he noticed Jin’s slight shiver and instinctively scooted a little closer.
“Hyung, you’re cold. Here,” Jungkook said, taking off his jacket and draping it around Jin’s shoulders without a second thought.
Jin blinked, surprised at the gesture. “You really don’t have to—”
“I’m fine,” Jungkook interrupted with a soft smile. “You’re the one who looks cold.”
Jin smiled, touched by how effortlessly caring Jungkook was. He slipped his arms into the sleeves, the warmth of the jacket already enveloping him. He didn’t say anything for a moment, just enjoying the comfortable silence and the quiet hum of the night around them.
For a while, they just sat there, watching the water shimmer under the faint moonlight, each of them lost in their thoughts. Jungkook kept glancing at Jin, though, his gaze soft and affectionate, as though memorizing the way Jin looked at that moment.
“Hyung, do you ever think about the future?” Jungkook asked after a while, his voice quiet but sincere.
Jin turned to him, eyebrows raised in curiosity. “The future? Like what, exactly?”
Jungkook shrugged, his gaze drifting to the water. “I don’t know. Just... where we’ll be in a few years. What we’ll be doing. Who we’ll be with.”
Jin was quiet for a moment, considering the question. It was rare that Jungkook would ask something like that so seriously. “I guess I try not to think too far ahead,” Jin admitted, his voice calm. “I’m always so caught up in the present, with work, with everything going on. But... I like the idea of being with the people who matter most, no matter where life takes us.”
Jungkook nodded, his lips pulling into a small smile as he looked back at Jin. “Yeah, me too. I think that’s all we really need, huh? The people we love, the people who are there for us.”
Jin's heart warmed at the look in Jungkook’s eyes. There was something about the way Jungkook spoke, the sincerity that radiated from him even in the smallest moments. “You’re right,” Jin said softly. “I guess I never really thought about it that way.”
Jungkook leaned back slightly, glancing up at the stars. “I just don’t want to miss anything important, you know?”
Jin chuckled lightly, nudging Jungkook’s arm. “You’re still young, Kook. There’s plenty of time for all that.”
Jungkook gave a small, teasing smirk. “I’m not that young anymore, hyung. I’m almost an adult.”
Jin laughed, the sound easy and natural. “You're still my baby, no matter how old you get.”
The teasing made Jungkook grin even wider, but then he grew serious again, his gaze softening as he turned to Jin. “And you’ll always be my hyung, right?”
Jin’s chest fluttered at that simple statement, and without thinking, he reached over and ruffled Jungkook’s hair fondly. “Always, Kook. Always.”
They sat in comfortable silence after that, the occasional gentle rustle of leaves overhead breaking the stillness. Jin’s heart was full in a way he couldn’t fully explain. Jungkook had a way of making even the quietest moments feel special, and in that peaceful space, it felt like the world was perfectly in place.
Eventually, Jungkook broke the silence again, his voice teasing. “You know, hyung, I think we should make this a weekly thing. I mean, the park, ice cream, stargazing... it’s perfect.”
Jin raised an eyebrow, a playful smile tugging at his lips. “Weekly? I don’t know, Kook. You’ll get bored of me after a while.”
Jungkook shook his head vigorously, his eyes wide. “Never! I could never get bored of you.”
Jin chuckled, shaking his head. “Alright, alright. We’ll see how long you can keep up with me.”
The two of them stood up and stretched, ready to head back. But as they started walking away from the lake, side by side, Jungkook bumped Jin’s shoulder gently.
“Hyung,” Jungkook said, his voice full of warmth, “I really mean it, you know. I’m glad we’re like this.”
Jin glanced at him, his heart fluttering again at the sincerity in Jungkook’s voice. “Me too, Kook. Me too.”
They walked the rest of the way back to the park exit in a comfortable silence, the city lights twinkling in the distance as the night fully took over. Jin could feel the warmth of Jungkook’s jacket around him, but more than that, he felt the warmth of their bond—strong, unwavering, and just the way it should be.
The days following their evening at the park had been filled with rehearsals, photo shoots, and the usual bustle of life. But each time Jin and Jungkook crossed paths, there was a shared, quiet understanding between them—a bond that had grown deeper without either of them really noticing. It wasn’t just in the big gestures but in the small, everyday moments that they continued to support each other.
One Friday evening, after a long day of practice, Jungkook walked into the dorm to find Jin sitting on the couch, his eyes closed, and a towel draped over his forehead as if he’d been trying to cool down. It was late, and most of the other members were already tucked into their rooms, recovering from the day.
Jungkook tilted his head, his heart immediately softening at the sight of Jin looking so worn out. He knew his hyung had been pushing himself hard lately, especially with everything that had been happening. Without a word, Jungkook moved quietly to the kitchen and started preparing something light for them to eat—a warm soup, something simple to comfort after a long day.
By the time he finished, Jin had shifted slightly, now sitting up, though still looking exhausted. His eyes opened to find Jungkook standing there, holding two steaming bowls.
Jin blinked, surprised. “Kook, what’s all this?”
“Dinner,” Jungkook said with a grin, setting one of the bowls down in front of him before sitting down on the couch next to him. “I figured you might need a little pick-me-up.”
Jin smiled, grateful for the gesture. “You really didn’t have to... but thanks, Kook. You’re too kind.”
Jungkook waved it off with a playful roll of his eyes. “What are friends for, hyung? I’m just looking out for you.”
Jin chuckled, touched by Jungkook’s thoughtfulness. As they ate together in comfortable silence, Jin felt his exhaustion slowly melt away with each spoonful, but even more than that, it was the feeling of being taken care of that made him feel at peace.
After they finished, Jungkook leaned back into the couch, eyes closed, stretching his arms above his head. “So, what’s the plan for tomorrow?” he asked casually, though there was a hint of mischief in his voice.
Jin raised an eyebrow, knowing that tone well. “Plan? You’re not suggesting another ice cream race, are you?”
Jungkook snorted, a grin spreading across his face. “Well... I was thinking something a little more low-key, but now that you mention it...”
Jin laughed, shaking his head. “I swear, Kook, you’re always thinking about food.”
“It’s not my fault that food is the best part of the day!” Jungkook defended with mock seriousness.
Jin rolled his eyes, but his smile didn’t fade. “Alright, alright. How about this? We spend the day together. Just the two of us. No work, no distractions. What do you say?”
Jungkook’s face lit up, a smile spreading across his features. “That sounds perfect, hyung! No distractions, just us.”
“Exactly,” Jin agreed, feeling a warmth spread through him at the idea. “We could visit that café you like, or just go for a walk around the city. Maybe even try something new.”
Jungkook nodded enthusiastically. “I’m in! It’s a date!”
Jin couldn’t help but laugh at how easily Jungkook’s excitement could lift his mood. “It’s not a date, Kook. We’re just spending time together.”
Jungkook’s grin widened, and he nudged Jin’s arm playfully. “Sure, hyung. But if it’s not a date, then why do I feel so... happy about it?”
Jin’s heart skipped a beat, but he quickly masked it with a casual chuckle. “You’re impossible.”
Jungkook didn’t let up, his gaze softening as he looked at Jin. “I mean it, though. I like spending time with you. More than anyone else, honestly.”
The sincerity in Jungkook’s voice caught Jin off guard. He turned to face the younger man fully, his expression soft. “I do too, Kook,” he said, his voice quieter now, almost reverent. “I really do.”
There was a beat of silence between them, the air charged with a new kind of softness. It wasn’t romantic—at least, not in the traditional sense—but it was deep and real, a bond that neither of them had to define to understand.
Jungkook broke the silence with a laugh, clearly trying to lighten the mood. “Alright, alright. I’ll stop being all sentimental on you, hyung.”
Jin rolled his eyes, but his smile never wavered. “You really are something else.”
“Yep. And you love me for it,” Jungkook said with a wink.
Jin let out a soft, affectionate laugh, nudging Jungkook’s shoulder. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Kook.”
They sat together on the couch for a while longer, the conversation drifting from light teasing to comfortable quiet. Despite the day’s exhaustion, both of them felt a quiet joy, content just to be in each other’s company, letting the hours slip by unnoticed.
The world outside might have been rushing ahead, but in that moment, everything felt still—perfectly still, as if time had slowed just enough to give them this peaceful slice of time together.
The next day arrived with the promise of another perfect, lazy day together. Jungkook had insisted on picking Jin up early, excited for their “date,” though Jin still tried to deny it was anything of the sort. The two of them spent the morning strolling through a quiet street lined with little shops, grabbing coffee and pastries from the bakery they’d passed every day on their way to practice. It was simple, and yet, Jin couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt so content.
As they wandered, Jungkook’s playful energy kept things lighthearted, always joking around, and Jin found himself laughing more than he had in days. The more time they spent together, the more he realized how much Jungkook had become his anchor—his source of light on even the darkest days. Jungkook was never far from his mind, and each moment with him felt special, as though they were building something more than just friendship, even if Jin wasn’t quite ready to label it.
They made their way to the park, the same one where they had spent that unforgettable evening under the stars. It was quiet again, the early afternoon sun casting long shadows across the grass. They settled on the same bench, this time without the rush of an ice cream race or the looming responsibilities of their careers. It was just them, no distractions, no one else to interrupt their moment.
Jungkook leaned back, resting his arms behind him on the back of the bench. “You know, hyung,” he began casually, “I’ve been thinking…”
Jin raised an eyebrow, turning to face him. “Uh-oh. That sounds dangerous.”
Jungkook chuckled, but his smile was a little softer this time, more introspective. “No, it’s just... I’ve been thinking about us.”
“Us?” Jin repeated, a little confused. He wasn’t sure what Jungkook meant by that. “What do you mean?”
Jungkook paused, his fingers tapping on the bench nervously, like he was trying to find the right words. “I mean… I’ve been thinking about how much time we’ve spent together lately. How easy it feels when we’re together. It doesn’t feel like it’s just two friends hanging out anymore, hyung.”
Jin’s heart skipped a beat. He looked at Jungkook, but the younger man was staring at his hands, not quite meeting his gaze. Jin felt a wave of nervous energy rise in his chest, unsure of what to say. Was this going where he thought it was going?
Before he could respond, Jungkook continued, his voice quieter now, almost uncertain. “I… I don’t know when it happened, but I think I’ve fallen for you, hyung.”
The words hung in the air between them, so simple and yet so heavy. Jin’s breath caught in his throat. He turned to face Jungkook fully now, searching his face for any hint that this might be some kind of joke, but Jungkook’s expression was earnest—raw even.
Jungkook finally looked up, meeting Jin’s eyes, his expression open, vulnerable. “I’ve tried not to say anything. I didn’t want to make things awkward. But every time I’m with you, it feels like I’m falling even more. I didn’t want to hide it anymore. I like you, hyung. More than just as a friend.”
Jin’s heart raced, his thoughts spinning. He had suspected something for a while now—how Jungkook would always be there for him, how he would make him laugh even when he didn’t feel like smiling. There were so many little things that Jungkook did that had slowly woven their way into Jin’s heart. But hearing the confession, the raw honesty in Jungkook’s voice—it left him speechless.
For a moment, the only sound was the gentle breeze rustling through the trees above them. Jin felt the weight of the moment, the sincerity in Jungkook’s words sinking deep into him.
Jungkook was looking at him now, his expression a mix of hope and uncertainty. “I understand if you don’t feel the same way, hyung. I just… needed to say it.”
Jin swallowed, his mind still racing. Slowly, he reached out, placing his hand on top of Jungkook’s. Jungkook’s eyes widened slightly at the touch, but Jin smiled softly, offering him a sense of calm. “Kook, you’ve always been important to me,” Jin said, his voice low but steady. “And I care about you more than anyone else. But...”
Jungkook's heart dropped, and for a brief second, he wondered if he had misread everything. Was Jin pulling away?
But Jin continued, squeezing his hand gently. “But... I think I’ve been falling for you too, Kook. In my own way. I just didn’t know how to say it.”
The relief that flooded Jungkook’s face was immediate, and he couldn’t hide the soft, disbelieving smile that spread across his lips. He looked at Jin, his voice barely above a whisper. “Really?”
Jin nodded, his own heart feeling lighter now that the words had finally been spoken aloud. “Yeah, really. I think... I think I’ve been falling for you for a while now. I just didn’t know how to say it either.”
Jungkook’s face broke into the most genuine, radiant smile Jin had ever seen. Without saying anything more, Jungkook leaned in, his eyes sparkling with joy, and in the next moment, he kissed Jin softly on the cheek.
Jin’s eyes fluttered shut for a moment, the warmth of Jungkook’s affection spreading through him. When he opened his eyes again, he found Jungkook watching him, a soft blush coloring his cheeks.
“I’m so glad you feel the same,” Jungkook whispered, still holding onto Jin’s hand like it was the most precious thing in the world.
Jin smiled, his heart swelling with emotion. “Me too, Kook. Me too.”
They sat there for a while longer, just enjoying the silence and the closeness, knowing that whatever happened from here on out, they had crossed an important line together—one that marked the beginning of something even deeper. Something that felt right, in every way.
And as the sun dipped lower, painting the sky with shades of pink and gold, it felt like the beginning of a whole new chapter for them both.
After their quiet moment in the park, things between Jin and Jungkook were different—softly, subtly different. They didn’t have to say anything more right away, as the air between them seemed to hum with unspoken understanding. The weight of the confession lingered, but in a way that felt light, like a new chapter had just begun, and neither of them needed to rush into it.
The days following their confession were filled with gentle moments: shared smiles, lingering touches, and the occasional shared glance that said everything neither of them quite had the words for. It was like they were both testing the waters, feeling their way through this new dynamic, unsure but comfortable.
On a quiet Sunday afternoon, the two of them found themselves at the same park again, sitting on the same bench. The world around them was still, the only sound being the occasional rustle of leaves in the breeze. They had spent the day walking around the city, exploring new places, and laughing like they had before—but now there was an unspoken layer to it, one that felt even more natural than it had before.
Jungkook was staring off into the distance, a thoughtful look in his eyes as he fiddled with the strap of his bag. Jin couldn’t help but smile at the sight of him—so familiar, so Jungkook, but also different in a way that made Jin’s heart flutter.
“Kook,” Jin began, his voice soft as he turned to face him, “are you okay?”
Jungkook turned his head, catching Jin’s eyes, and smiled. “Yeah, I’m just thinking. A lot, actually.”
“About what?” Jin asked, genuinely curious. He could see the wheels turning in Jungkook’s head, and it made him wonder what was on his mind.
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, then shrugged, still looking at Jin with a small grin. “Just... us. This whole thing. It’s still kind of new, you know?”
Jin nodded, understanding exactly what Jungkook meant. “Yeah, it feels like everything’s changed but also stayed the same.”
“That’s what I mean,” Jungkook said, his voice quieter now. “It’s weird, but in a good way. Like we’re still us, but now... we’re more, too.”
Jin’s heart warmed at Jungkook’s words. It was exactly how he felt, though he wasn’t sure how to articulate it. But Jungkook, as always, had a way of making sense of things.
“It’s just... I don’t want to mess this up, hyung,” Jungkook continued, his voice hesitant. “I know we’ve been friends for so long, and I don’t want anything to change, but also, I don’t want to go back to just being friends either. Does that make sense?”
Jin’s heart softened, and he reached out, placing his hand gently on Jungkook’s. Jungkook glanced at it, a bit surprised, before looking up at Jin.
“It makes perfect sense, Kook,” Jin said, his voice reassuring. “But listen to me—whatever happens, we’re still going to be us. Just because things are different doesn’t mean we have to stop being who we are. And if this is something that feels right, we’ll figure it out. Together.”
Jungkook let out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding, and his shoulders seemed to relax. “You’re right. I guess I’ve just been overthinking everything.”
Jin chuckled softly, squeezing his hand. “That’s what you do best, Kook.”
“Hey!” Jungkook protested, though his voice was light with laughter. “I’m trying to be serious here.”
Jin smiled, his thumb brushing over the back of Jungkook’s hand. “And I’m being serious, too. We’ve been through so much together already. This? This is just the next step.”
Jungkook met his gaze, his expression turning tender. There was so much that went unspoken between them, but the look in his eyes said it all. “I just want to be with you, hyung. However that looks.”
Jin’s heart skipped a beat. The sincerity in Jungkook’s words made his chest tighten. “I want that, too, Kook. More than anything.”
For a moment, they just sat there, their hands still intertwined, as the world moved around them. The sun had begun to dip below the horizon, painting the sky with warm colors. It felt like the perfect moment—simple, quiet, but full of meaning.
“Do you ever think about... what it would be like to tell the others?” Jungkook asked, breaking the silence. He seemed a little nervous now, his fingers tracing patterns on Jin’s hand. “About us?”
Jin thought for a moment. He hadn’t really considered it yet. The thought of telling the other members felt distant, like something they didn’t need to worry about right now. He didn’t want to rush into that conversation, not when everything still felt so new and tender between them.
“I think... when the time’s right, we’ll tell them,” Jin said thoughtfully. “But we don’t have to do anything we’re not ready for. As long as we’re happy, that’s what matters most.”
Jungkook nodded, looking relieved. “Yeah. You’re right. I just... don’t want things to get weird with the other guys.”
“We won’t let it,” Jin reassured him. “We’ve been through everything together already, Kook. Nothing will change that.”
They both sat in comfortable silence, the setting sun casting long shadows as they watched the sky turn to pink and purple. It was as though the world had slowed down just for them, giving them the space to savor the moment, knowing that whatever was coming next, they would face it together.
Jungkook suddenly squeezed Jin’s hand a little tighter, his voice almost a whisper. “Hyung, I think... I think I’m really in love with you.”
Jin’s heart fluttered at the confession, but this time, it felt right—genuine. He turned to Jungkook, meeting his eyes, and for a moment, all the nervousness and uncertainty that had plagued them both seemed to vanish. They were just two people who had found something special in each other.
“I love you too, Kook,” Jin said softly, his voice full of warmth.
Jungkook’s eyes brightened, and he leaned his head on Jin’s shoulder, a contented sigh escaping him. “I’m glad,” he murmured.
Jin rested his head against Jungkook’s, feeling more at peace than he had in a long time. There were still so many unknowns ahead of them, but in that moment, under the soft colors of the setting sun, everything felt just right.
For the first time, Jin didn’t need to worry about what the future held. All he needed was to be here, with Jungkook. And that was enough.
As the days went by, Jin and Jungkook found themselves falling deeper into this uncharted territory. They were no longer just friends, but something more—a quiet, delicate bond that was evolving every day. The world around them seemed to blur, becoming secondary to the space they created together. But there was still one looming thought they both couldn’t escape.
What would the others think?
They had been so wrapped up in their own little world that the idea of telling the rest of the members hadn’t seemed as urgent. But as time passed, it was becoming something that was hanging over them. They both knew that it couldn’t stay between them forever.
One evening, after practice, Jungkook found Jin sitting by the kitchen table, nursing a cup of tea. The other members were in their rooms, winding down for the night, but Jin was lost in thought, staring out the window, the glow of the streetlights casting soft shadows over his face.
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, standing at the entrance of the kitchen, unsure of how to approach the topic. It had been a peaceful day—a day that felt like it could stretch on forever. But he knew the time was coming when they’d have to have the conversation.
Jungkook took a deep breath before walking up to Jin, sitting across from him at the table. Jin looked up, offering a soft smile, but Jungkook could see the slight furrow in his brow.
“Hey, hyung,” Jungkook said gently. “You okay?”
Jin nodded, but his smile faltered a little. “Yeah. Just... thinking.”
Jungkook leaned forward, meeting his gaze. “About what?”
Jin paused, setting his cup down, his fingers tapping lightly on the rim as if weighing his words. “About us. About everything that’s been happening... and what comes next.”
Jungkook swallowed, his heart beating faster. “I’ve been thinking the same thing,” he admitted. “About... telling the others.”
Jin’s eyes softened, but there was a quiet tension in them now, a reflection of the uncertainty they had been avoiding. “Yeah. I think it’s time.”
Jungkook exhaled, almost relieved that Jin was on the same page. “I just—what if things change? What if they don’t understand? I don’t want to make things awkward, hyung.”
Jin smiled faintly, his hand reaching across the table to rest on Jungkook’s. “I think they’ll understand. We’ve all been through so much together. I trust them, and I trust us. If anyone is going to be supportive, it’s them.”
“But what if—” Jungkook started, his voice trembling slightly as he thought about the worst-case scenarios, “what if they don’t?”
“Then we deal with it,” Jin said firmly, his voice calm but certain. “But I don’t think it will come to that. We’ve always had each other’s backs, and this is no different.”
Jungkook sat back, his fingers still intertwined with Jin’s. He let the words sink in, feeling a sense of quiet confidence wash over him. Maybe Jin was right. Maybe they didn’t need to worry so much about what was to come. Maybe they could face it, together.
“Do you want to tell them tonight?” Jungkook asked, his voice quieter now, as though the weight of the decision was settling into his chest.
Jin shook his head, a small laugh escaping him. “I think we need a little more time. I’m not sure I’m ready to have that conversation yet.”
Jungkook chuckled, relieved. “Yeah, me neither. Maybe we can wait until tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow sounds good,” Jin agreed. “We’ll do it when we’re ready.”
They sat there for a few more moments, letting the quiet settle between them. The comfort of each other’s presence was enough for now—there was no rush to change anything just yet. They didn’t have to have all the answers, not tonight. They were taking things one step at a time.
As the night stretched on, the two of them found themselves slipping into their usual routine—quiet conversations, teasing, and shared moments of comfort. But beneath the surface, they both knew that something big was coming. They could feel it, lingering just ahead. But they weren’t alone in it. They had each other, and that was all that mattered for now.
The morning came with an unexpected energy—a mix of anticipation and nervousness that hung in the air. Jin and Jungkook knew it was time. They had talked it through the night before, and now, there was no turning back. The only question was, when?
The other members had gathered in the living room, watching TV and goofing off, as usual. Jin and Jungkook exchanged a glance, their hands subtly brushing against each other in a silent understanding. It was now or never.
Jungkook took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. “Hyung, you ready?” he whispered, his eyes searching Jin’s.
Jin gave him a reassuring smile, though there was a small hint of nervousness in his eyes. “Let’s do it, Kook.”
Together, they walked into the living room, where the others were laughing over something on the screen. When the door clicked shut behind them, the laughter died down, and all eyes turned toward the pair.
Jin and Jungkook stood side by side, their hands still loosely touching, a subtle sign of their newfound closeness. Jin cleared his throat, suddenly feeling the nerves hit him full force. “Guys, we need to talk.”
The members exchanged confused glances, sensing the seriousness in Jin’s voice. “What’s up?” Namjoon asked, sitting up straighter.
Jin glanced at Jungkook, who nodded encouragingly. Taking a deep breath, Jin turned to face the group, his voice steady but filled with a quiet intensity. “We’ve been keeping something between us for a while now, and we think it’s time to share it with all of you.”
There was a brief silence before Taehyung raised an eyebrow. “What are you guys talking about?”
Jungkook finally spoke, his voice softer than usual, but full of honesty. “We’re... together. We’re in a relationship.”
The room fell completely silent.
Jin squeezed Jungkook’s hand, feeling a small but comforting warmth radiate between them. There was no going back now. They had crossed this line, and now, they would face whatever came next—together.
The moment Jin and Jungkook dropped the news, the living room fell silent. The tension was palpable, and for a brief moment, it felt like the world had frozen. But before either of them could say anything more, Namjoon, ever the leader, smiled widely and leaned back in his chair.
“Finally,” he said, a quiet laugh escaping his lips. “We’ve been waiting for you two to admit it.”
Jin blinked, his heart skipping a beat. “Wait, what?” he asked, glancing around at the others. “You... already knew?”
Taehyung, who had been pretending to be engrossed in his phone, looked up with a mischievous grin. “Are you kidding? It was so obvious. You two are basically the definition of in love.”
Jungkook’s face flushed, and he glanced at Jin, both of them clearly taken aback. They had expected questions, maybe even some teasing, but this?
“You guys weren’t surprised?” Jungkook asked, his voice incredulous.
Hoseok chuckled, his eyes bright with amusement. “We’ve known for a while. You both are way too obvious. The way you look at each other, how you act when you’re together—it wasn’t hard to figure out.”
Jin and Jungkook exchanged glances, their confusion quickly turning into a blend of embarrassment and relief. Jin rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. “So, you were just waiting for us to tell you?”
“Yup,” Yoongi answered, his tone dry but his expression softening. “We knew. We were just giving you time to figure it out yourself.”
Jungkook’s face turned an even deeper shade of red. “And you didn’t think to say anything? You could’ve saved us all this awkwardness!”
The members burst out laughing, and it felt like a weight lifted off their shoulders. They had been so nervous about how the others would react, but here they were, being met with nothing but warmth and support.
“Hyung, you two are perfect for each other,” Jimin added, a wide smile on his face. “Honestly, I think we were all just waiting for you to realize it too.”
Jin laughed, a sound that was filled with both disbelief and relief. “I guess we were the last to know then, huh?”
“Well, it’s not like we didn’t already see it coming,” Namjoon teased, his voice full of fondness. “You’ve been spending all your time together, and we can’t remember the last time you didn’t have your attention on each other.”
Jungkook looked at Jin, his smile growing bigger. “You knew, but you still let us figure it out for ourselves, huh?”
“Of course,” Hoseok chimed in. “You two had to come to terms with it. It wouldn’t have been as special if we had just pushed you into it.”
Jin smiled, shaking his head in disbelief. “You guys really knew, huh?”
“Yeah,” Taehyung said with a teasing grin. “We knew the second Jin-hyung started blushing every time Jungkook made a joke.”
“And when Jungkook started bringing Jin breakfast without being asked,” Jimin added with a wink.
Jungkook let out a sheepish laugh, clearly embarrassed now, but also touched by the way the others were reacting. “I... didn’t think it was that obvious.”
“Please,” Yoongi said, his usual cool demeanor replaced with an amused smirk, “you two are practically glowing. We didn’t need to be rocket scientists to figure it out.”
The laughter that filled the room was nothing but warmth, and the tension that Jin and Jungkook had been carrying since their confession melted away. The members were happy for them—not surprised, but genuinely pleased that the two of them had finally decided to be honest, not just with each other, but with everyone else too.
“So,” Namjoon began, leaning forward with a grin. “Are we finally going to celebrate this or what?”
Jin’s eyes lit up, and Jungkook couldn’t help but laugh, his heart finally light. “Yeah, let’s celebrate. But first—what do you think we should do about dinner?”
“We’ll take care of that,” Jimin said enthusiastically. “You two are finally together, so let us take the lead on this one. We’ll make it special!”
Jungkook looked at Jin, his gaze soft. “I guess we don’t have to be nervous anymore, huh?”
Jin smiled, squeezing Jungkook’s hand gently. “Nope. We’ve got the best support system we could ask for.”
“Exactly,” Jungkook agreed, his voice full of relief. “We’ve got each other and our friends. I’m... I’m really happy, hyung.”
Jin leaned in, his voice lowering, but full of warmth and affection. “Me too, Kook. I think... I think this is just the beginning of something amazing.”
With that, the members stood up, already chatting excitedly about the plans for dinner. Jin and Jungkook shared a quiet smile, their fingers still intertwined. They had been nervous about how this would go—how their relationship would be received by the people they cared about the most. But now, surrounded by their friends, they knew they didn’t have to worry anymore.
The bond they shared, both with each other and with the rest of the group, felt unbreakable. They were no longer just two people trying to figure things out; they were a part of something bigger. And together, they knew they could face anything that came their way.
The evening was filled with laughter, teasing, and love. As the night wore on, Jin and Jungkook found themselves more and more at ease. They had taken a step they had both been nervous about, but the weight of their secret was now gone. And in its place was something even more beautiful—acceptance, love, and the support of the people who mattered most.
