Chapter Text
Sukuna woke to the patter of feet and a small body scrambling into the bed, tugging at the sheets. Tiny feet found their way into his back as his unruly pup stood on his spine triumphantly. Just once, he thought, it would be nice to wake up to his actual alarm and not one of his children deciding to abuse his already devastated sleep schedule.
“Get down,” he rumbled, opening one eye a crack to watch the shadow cast by golden morning light on the wall, a fluffy haired shadow that put her hands on her hips when he spoke. He could practically hear the pout. Shame on him for desiring a working spine and no bruised pups when she inevitably fell off the bed. Still, her stubborn streak (that had nothing to do with him and everything to do with the omega sleeping next to him) shone through like a petulant sun.
”Ajisai.” He growled in warning and she got down with a huff, somehow kneeing him in the ribs as she did so, sliding onto the bed next to him.
“Daddy, you suck,” his three year old told him in a very serious voice.
He scoffed, rolling over and wrapping one arm around her to pull her to his chest like a teddy bear. She shrieked in protest and, from somewhere under the pile of blankets on the other side of the bed, Yuji stirred.
“Kuna?” Came the sleepy mumble and Ajisai froze in his grip, realising she had woken her other parent. After a week of being told to be quiet and gentle around the fussy omega in heat, she had somewhat retained the idea that she shouldn’t disturb him, although that apparently only extended to inside the nest as she still followed Yuji to the bathroom like a duckling without fail.
Sukuna sighed. It had been a nice five minutes of peace. Yuji poked a fluffy head of hair out of the blanket and blinked bleary eyes at him.
“Morning,” he purred to his omega, as Ajisai set about trying to escape from his grasp again. His darling husband only stared at him blankly, the lingering effects of his last heat making his thoughts hazy, until he finally seemed to register what was going on and smiled.
”Hi. We’ve got a visitor.” Their daughter wiggled out from under his arm to crawl over to Yuji.
“Hi mama,” She mumbled and Yuji propped himself up enough to kiss her pale red hair. Sukuna’s apparent ‘carbon copy’ giggled at the attention.
From his crib in the corner, the youngest of their brood began to whine. Yuji looked at Sukuna. Sukuna looked back. A battle was forged and won. Sukuna got up to get the fussy pup.
“Seiji,” he rumbled, picking up the baby who gave him a disapproving stare, and almost immediately handed the pup over to his omega. The fussing died down instantly, Seiji choosing that moment to go back to sleep, now content in his dam’s arms. Sukuna frowned at the sight, slightly disgruntled by the obvious preference, until he remembered he’d probably also prefer Yuji. He picked his daughter up by the ankle to get her out of his spot and sat down again, then let her wriggle her way around the nest until she had found a comfortable spot.
Yuji was purring away next to him, a happy little engine surrounded by pups and happy scents. It made Sukuna preen to see.
“Where’s Shinji?”
As if on cue, the door creaked open and in slipped their dark haired pup, dragging his rabbit plush and blinking blearily. Wordlessly, he crawled onto the bed and between his parents, tucking himself back under the covers to go back to sleep.
“Morning,” Sukuna called, ruffling the bird’s nest that sat on his son’s head, masquerading as hair, since he had not been allowed to cut it for the past few months. Shinji only mumbled something unintelligible in return before his head disappeared under the covers and the six year old was gone.
“Riveting conversation.” Yuji chuckled, leaning over to kiss his cheek which Sukuna accepted and returned a with a little more tongue. Ajisai squeaked at being disturbed between them and Seiji cracked one reddish brown eye to glare at his sire.
“Gross!” She shrieked, scrambling out from between them and simultaneously kneeing everyone with her wriggling, receiving a squeaky growly from under the covers as Shinji emerged grumpily to catch her foot.
“Hey!”
”Quit it!”
They dissolved into sputtering growls and yips, wrestling each other playfully despite their clear size difference. Yuji sighed, a well worn sound to mark the incoming argument, equally well worn as it was.
”Ajisai, Shinji-“ he was interrupted by a squeak, a yelp, and a thump as they rolled off the edge of the bed. Sukuna was up in a second to scoop them up, dumping them on the bed before crossing his arms and giving them both a scolding look.
“How many times have I got to tell you not to mess about on the bed?”
Sukuna received, for his efforts, two mumbled apologies and about three moments of peaceful cuddling before his pups were bickering again, Ajisai from her spot on his chest and Shinji half bundled in a blanket.
The door to the bedroom swung open again and Uraume stood there looking vaguely disapproving of everything. The teen was already dressed and their white hair damp from a shower. Suspicious, Sukuna narrowed his eyes.
”Why are you up so early on a Saturday?”
”It's ten o’clock.” They huffed, giving him a judgemental look that he swore wasn’t from him, no matter what Yuji said.
“Morning Ura,” Yuji chimed in and Uraume nodded in greeting. Ajisai waved enthusiastically and the teen’s icy expression broke slightly at the sight.
“Ura-nee, come join us!” She squealed.
”There’s no room,” the beta said. Eyeing the now rather packed nest.
”There’s plenty of room,” Yuji said chipperly.
Their eyes turned to the alpha and he nodded. It was an unspoken agreement, to let Uraume come to them only when they wanted to. Under the covers, Yuji’s hand found his own, their fingers tangling and squeezing in unseen excitement as their eldest stood there, thinking.
Finally, they approached the nest and tentatively sat on the edge before wriggling under a blanket.
Sukuna and Yuji shared a glance, small, grateful smiles on their lips.
The nest was finally full enough.
