Separation

Summary:

Jeongguk and Jimin meet again after two years, Jeongguk is a little different, but not his feelings for the other.

Notes:

Hi! I feel super inspired in this days, it never happened to me and I'm really happy.

Anyway, this is my fifth work here on Ao3 and I still have difficulty with the summary, I hope to learn soon how to write a proper one-.-

For this fic I had two endings, one happy and another sad, and since I don't like to see my character suffer I chose the happy one^^ also I think that my angst part aren't good enough, I need to practice more...

Anyway I hope you like it!

Work Text:

"We should break up"

Those words were like a dagger in Jeongguk's heart, but he still nodded at Jimin's word, knowing that was almost all his fault if Jimin was saying those words to him.

"Good, I've already packed my things, and Yoongi hyung will  come soon to pick me up" Jimin said coldly, and Jeongguk nodded again, even though he didn't want to, even though he wanted to kneel in front of him and beg for him to not to leave him and tell him that he was the most important and beautiful thing that ever happend in his life, but his mouth wouldn't obey and his body was in autopilot.

When Jimin was gone, with all his stuff, he was left alone, in the same place surrounded by all the photos that reminded him of all the happy moments they spent together. He found himself calling for Taehyung, the only person that never left him.

"Ohi Jeongguk-ah!". Taehyung seemed happy and Jeongguk thought if he should talk to him and ruin even his happiness. As if Taehyung read is mind he asked with a serious tone "is something wrong?"

"He's gone, hyung. I made him go away from me again" was Jeongguk's simply reply, and he was surprised that he wasn't crying. But maybe because he was accustomed to people leaving him because they were jealous of his success or because sometimes he was to into his work or simply because he didn't know how to properly express his feelings.

They stayed in silence for some time, before Taehyung broke it "I'm sure he will come back, he loves you so much, he couldn't leave you like this", at this words Jeongguk broke up and started crying.

"I-it's always like this hyung" Jeongguk paused trying to calm down. "He loved me so much, I-I know, l-like nobody ever loved me, and me too, I l-love him like nobody else, why I can't say it properly, hyung?" managed to say. After some silent minutes he started yelling angrily "Why I couldn't beg for him to stay? Why I couldn't tell him anything? Why hyung?"

"If he needed you to tell those things, if he couldn't understand you without words, maybe he wasn't the right person for you, Jeongguk. Don't worry you will find someone that will understand you without words, just don't lose hope, alright?"

Two years later, at the age of 26, Jeongguk is the youngest manager his company has ever seen and lives in a penthouse in Yongsan-gu. His first task as a manager is to employ his team and so he start to personally interview the candidates. Until now he evaluated eight people, and was quite satisfied,  he was ready to welcome the ninth person, when he read the name: Park Jimin. At that moment the door opend and the same Park Jimin who broke his heart to shred was now standing there, beautiful as ever.

"Well this is kind of awkward" was what he said, with his sweet voice, and suddenly felt self conscious,  because he didn't want to meet the older again in this kind of situation: Jeongguk behind a desk doing interview, and Jimin being the one interviewed.

"P-please sit down" stuttered Jeongguk,  scolding himself for it.

"Thank you" smiled Jimin, and Jeongguk knew that he missed his smile, but he didn't know he missed it this much.

Jeongguk wanted to tell him that he missed him, that he still love him even after two years, but instead he opted for being professional and started the interview like he did with the other candidates. He found that Jimin was very qualified for working with him, and he felt proud, he wasn't the only one who grew. When the interview finished Jeongguk felt disappointed,  he wanted to spend more time with the older, but as always he didn't know what to say, and, instead of dismiss him, he stayed silent.

"You really hit big, at your age, being a manager" started Jimin, breaking the silence,  "you deserve this, you always put work before everything else, I'm glad that I wasn't bothering you".

At those words Jeongguk's heart stung. How could Jimin think he was a bothering him, when in reality he was the one Jeongguk has done everything he did. "Bother? Hyung, you never were a bother. You were the one and only that pushed me forward, that pushed me this far, that inspired me. You still are." said Jeongguk in one breath, he felt his cheeks redden, but he was happy, because now he said what he wanted to say to him for a very long time. Jimin on the other hand looked confused.

"Hyung, I'm sorry for having hurt you, it was the last thing I wanted, and I understand that it was all my fault, because I focused too much on work while I should have give all my attention to you, because I loved you more than anything else, and you were the most precious person I ever had, and you deserved everything I could have given you, and instead I didn't do anything of this, and I'm so sorry" Jeongguk was now standing and looking straight into Jimin's eyes, that looked back at him coldly.

"Jeongguk listen-"

"Hyung, please, don't tell me it's too late, I love you, more than before, and I miss you so much that it hurts. Please hyung, give me another chance." cut him off Jeongguk, afraid of the older's words.

"Jeongguk, I think that it's too late to apologize for what you did. You hurt me pretty bad back there, yes, but I'm not angry at you anymore." Jeongguk felt his heart sink, he should have known that it was too late, but at least he could say how he felt. "But I think it's never too late to give second chances, especially when I regretted breaking up with you every day" concluded Jimin with a smile full of love, the same smile he gave Jeongguk two years ago.

"I'm sorry it took so long for me to say these things" said Jeongguk hugging Jimin tightly.

"It's okay, I guess that this separation made us understand a lot of things, right?" replied Jimin hugging him back.

"Yeah, but this won't work anymore, because now I won't ever permit you to leave me again"

"I want need the permission, because I don't intend to leave again"
