A Knight's Love, a Prince's Secret
—
Chapter 1: The First Meeting
Prince Damian of Selvendom was born to rule. From the moment he could walk, he was groomed to be king—taught diplomacy, swordplay, and the art of leadership. But despite his royal upbringing, prince Damian often felt like a prisoner in his own castle. The weight of his crown was heavy, and the expectations of his father, King Aldric, were even heavier.
Sir Vincent, on the other hand, was a man of humble beginnings. Born to a blacksmith in a small village, he had risen through the ranks of the royal guard through sheer determination and skill. His loyalty to the crown was unwavering, and his reputation as a fearless knight was well-earned. When he was assigned as Prince Damian's personal guard, he accepted the duty without question.
Their first meeting was formal, as befitting a prince and his knight. The prince, seated in the grand hall, studied Vincent with a critical eye. The knight stood tall, his armor gleaming, his expression unreadable. Damian had heard of Vincent’s exploits—how he had single-handedly defended a village from bandits, how he had saved the life of a fellow knight in battle. But seeing him in person was different. There was a quiet strength about him, a steadiness that he found both intriguing and unsettling.
“You are to be my shadow, then?” The prince asked, his tone laced with sarcasm. “My protector?”
The loyal knight bowed his head. “If it pleases Your Highness, I am here to serve.”
Damian smirked. “We’ll see about that.”
