Chapter 1: You Are Not My Master.

Chapter Text

"Here it is, the Mirror of Truth!"

"Pit, you have to destroy that mirror!"

As the angel approached the mirror to shatter it, red eyes shone in his reflection.

"Huh?"

When it shattered, he felt a presence behind him.

He turns around. Another angel, not just like him-exactly like him, barring black hair and feathers-kneels on the floor, quivering.

"Let's get right into introductions: this here is Dark Pit!"

The ebony angel shoots up.

"He'll be your escort out of this-!"

"Dark Pit" punches the False Goddess, knocking her down. He looks over his shoulder at Pit, red eyes now widened.

"No," Dark Pit finally speaks, "I'm not with you!"

He runs away from Pandora. Pit is reminded of why he came here in the first place and continues fighting her.

...who am I?

Who is he?

Am I...natural?

I wasn't born to anyone.

I didn't come from anyone.

Why am I...him?

...

The one who called herself my "master" has fallen.

Pandora's burning remains catch Dark Pit's eye. He shoves Pit out of the way.

"What are you doing?!" Palutena's voice finds itself in his brain.

He dives head first into the fire. It disappears beneath him, and his wings emit a deep purple aura.

"You..." he looks up at Pit, "...we...were bound to the Earth. I'm not supposed to be like this..."

"Why were you running away from Pandora?!"

"I'm not with her! I'm supposed to fly, dammit!"

Dark Pit runs away again, this time spreading his wings and taking off.

"...he can fly?" Pit mutters under his breath.
