Chapter Text

Echoes of the North

The Healer of Yul

In a land where towering mountains touch the heavens and vast kingdoms stretch across, grand castles rise and ancient noble families wield power. Villages with cobblestone streets are bustling. Merchants sell enchanted trinkets, rare herbs, and sizzling roasted meats while blacksmith forge weapons imbued with magic. The very air thrums with magic that mythical creatures roam freely or lurk in the depths of the forests.

Magic, a gift from the gods, flows through the land where some wield it as raw power which shapes it into fire, ice or lightning, while others like the healers of Yul (Rhythm) would channel their power into the art of restoration.

Nestled on the outskirts of the kingdom of Ahof is the quiet village of Yul (Rhythm), where a young healer named JL lived. With gentle hands and beauty that caught many admiring glances, he was beloved by all. His heart was as kind as the herbs he tended, and his gift which was an inherited magic that allowed him to mend wounds with a mere touch. JL came from a humble family, despite their powerful healing abilities. His parents, masters of their craft, lived modestly with only a few trusted retainers. Known for their quiet humility, they used their magic not just to heal but to connect with the very essence of life. Many healers relied on potions and salves but they could summon light energy that draws life force from the earth itself and this can accelerate recovery thus JL’s family was indispensable, both in their village and beyond.

In his small cottage clinic, JL carefully placed his hands over an elderly woman who injured her arm due to carelessly handling a sickle. A soft, golden glow radiated from JL’s fingertips, seeping into the woman’s skin and knitting torn muscle and tissue back together. The woman gasped, the pain fading and warmth spread through her arm. She winced lightly at the lingering soreness but soon smiled at JL in gratitude.

“Thank you, JL”, she murmured. “You’re always there to help and I feel good as new.”

JL smiled, his magic flickering out as he secured the affected arm for support with practiced ease. “It’s nothing, just a little time and care.”

Before he could speak again, a familiar voice called from outside. He turned to see one of his father’s trusted subordinates waiting at the door, his stance rigid with urgency.

JL glanced back at his patient. “Make sure to rest and please be careful next time, auntie.”

The woman nodded, eyes warm. “You’re really kind, JL. May the gods watch over you.”

With a final nod, JL stepped outside, the golden traces of his magic still faintly tingling in his fingertips. His stomach twisted slightly as he followed his father’s subordinate. He had a feeling that his quiet life would begin to change.
