Chapter 1: chapter 1

Chapter Text

It was a Saturday night. Ash Lynx, the former most feared gang leader in New York, now considered dead, was sitting at the bar with his best friend, Shorter Wong, drinking his favorite beer and talking about everything and nothing.

Since the world believed he was dead, Ash had to change his identity. To the public, he was now Aaron Collins. But to those who knew him, he was still the same Ash.

“Bro, I swear to God, you gotta stop thirsting over him and just confess,” Shorter said, taking a sip of his beer.

The two friends were currently arguing over whether Ash should confess to Eiji or not. To Ash, Eiji was the most beautiful Omega in the world. But he refused to confess, insisting that Eiji didn’t like him that way. Shorter, on the other hand, knew exactly how both of them felt about each other, and it was driving him insane trying to get them to admit it.

As for Eiji, he was still in America, receiving treatment at the hospital, and was soon to be discharged. Ash visited him from time to time.

“You don’t get it, do you? He has no feelings for me. There’s no point in confessing if I’m just going to get rejected,” Ash argued, staring at the bar table and swirling his drink around. He sighed and looked at Shorter. “Why are you always trying to bring us together? Someone as kind as Eiji would never love a monster like me.”

“Tsk, quit that bullshit, bro. You are hella fine! How could someone not like you?” Shorter said, placing his beer bottle on the bar a little too loudly.

“So you think I’m fine?” Ash asked with a smirk.

Shorter pushed him away with a disgusted expression. “Bro! I’m not gay, what the fuck?! You are good-looking, but I’m not into dudes!”

Ash chuckled. “Relax, Shorter. But thanks for the confirmation, I guess.” He took a sip of his drink before mumbling, “Look, I know I’m good-looking and all, but… what about my personality?”

Shorter raised a brow. “What about it?” He tilted his bottle against his lips, about to take another sip. “Man, you’re funny, caring, hella protective, you know, all that good stuff. Omegas like that, right?” He turned around and started chugging his beer.

“I don’t think all Omegas are the same…” Ash muttered, glancing at Shorter with a raised brow.

“Tsk, that’s not what I meant.” Shorter groaned. “Agh, talking to you is like talking to a wall. Maybe I should just tell you already so you’ll shut up and confess like a real Alpha!”

Ash turned fully toward him, intrigued. “Tell me what?”

“Uh…” Shorter hesitated, looking nervous. “Eiji’s gonna kill me… but, uh, there was this one time I asked him what he thinks of you and all.” He scratched the back of his head. “And, well… he said you’re kinda handsome. He thinks you’re hella cool and stuff… he also said you’re, like… hot. Oh yeah, and most importantly he said he liked you.”

“ Oh…” Ash struggled to find the right words, but nothing came out.

Shorter threw his hands up. “But don’t tell Eiji I said that! He’ll kill me!”

“Okay… I won’t say anything…”

Ash had a lot to think about that night, which left him with absolutely no sleep.
