(“Just a little bit longer… then this will be fine. ”) Penny told herself.
Penny was currently finding herself at a large venue. With a crowd almost as huge as a football field pushing behind her. She had been lucky she managed to have snagged three tickets to the concert as soon they had been released and been very adamant about going there very early so they could be right in the front.
Much to Melas and Giacomo's complaint. They didn't mind being in the mosh pit of things personally but the complaint was more that they needed to camp outside quite early to get the best spots but they also knew that Penny would not relent and not accept any other place to be other then the very front.
Plus… they did feel for her when she would get squashed by other people around her so they tended to stay on each of her side so she could enjoy herself as much as possible and not have strangers invading her personal space.
But all of that got a lot better whenever they managed to get spots in the front to cheer the band on since a lot of people at rock concerts LIKED. being in the mosh pit while Penny absolutely despised it. She didn't get it, She didn't WANT to get it, and She was content and happy at the very front.
The fact she willingly went to several rock concerts of all things to begin with was a miracle in itself.
It all had started a few months prior when Giacomo and Mela had managed to wrangle all of their friends to join them for a new band that they found out about and Penny had been very skeptical if she could enjoy the music with a crowd around them.
Back then they had taken seats high up and far from the stage for everyone’s comfort but it was safe to say Penny had been blown away by the music and a certain guitarist the moment the music and band members appeared. Suddenly Penny was very interested in the band and joined Mela and Giacomo to all of their concerts to the point of it was her , Dragging them with her.
A wave of sound then blasted through the whole venue and loud music, coupled with fire exploded from the stage and the members of the rock band made their explosive entrance.
The crowd roared in cheers and the concert began. Penny’s eyes glued to the young woman playing the guitar and Penny felt her face heat up, which wasn't even from the fire launcher shooting from up from the stage.
Giacomo and Mela nudged each other and nodded to Penny, notifying each other that yep.
their friend was yet again starstruck and stunned by the guitarist.
To say she was a fan of hers was an understatement. Ever since Penny had seen her for the first time she made it her life's mission to find every past concert recording and albums with her and made sure to make it to all concerts to just see her and would endure annoying, loud, pushing crowds. This only increased when the guitarist at one of the concerts had taken of her shirt and thrown it into the crowd and Penny had managed to catch it and the guitarist had spotted her and winked at her. acknowledging her existence.
Giacomo and Mela had laughed and called her delusional and that it was to the section of the crowd they were in at that it wasn't specifically at her. and sure fine. maybe.
But when they had gone to the singing afterward. The guitarist. or rather Nemona as her name was. had smiled brightly when she spotted Penny coming up to her side of the table.
“Oh, it's you! you’re the one who caught my shirt” She had said and Penny had shyly nodded and mumbled a low “Haha yeah…Guess I was lucky”
the conversation had been short and fast and a ‘thank you for coming.’ and ‘you were great I love your music.’
But this just made Penny more of a fan and told her friends since she did remember her. That wink must been towards her, right? right…?
Giacomo and Mela had chuckled and said, “There’s something called fanservice, Pen. Don’t get yourself too attached.”
Penny knew this and that she wasn’t special. But how could she not? Especially since Nemona did remember her and always lit up at every meet and greet she made it to.
Every signing, every conversation lasting slightly. Longer than the previous. Nemona’s hand holding hers in a handshake longer and longer. How could she not think that she was remembered and liked as a fan a bit more than the rest at least a little bit?
….
The concert came and went and the crowd slowly dispersed. A lot went home while the rest lingered around for the soon meet and greet that would be held in an hour.
The band understandably so just needed a break and get ready for it.
Nemona slumped down on the coach they had in their backroom. Strumming her guitar, another successful concert had finished and adrenaline was still pumping high.
Nemona couldn't stop smiling and was giddy as she slowly ran her fingers over her guitar and the moment a member of her band sat down. she was quick to catch them in a conversation.
“Hey! You think she liked it??”
“Oh my fucking- Is that the first thing you want to say??”
“I mean- it was the first time I got to sing during a section of one of our songs…”
“You need to let this fan go Nemona. Your liking to her can't be healthy, it's favoritism but yes. I’m very positive she liked it. Isn't she like your biggest fan anyway?”
“heh, Im thinking if I should give her my number if she comes to the signing today.”
“Not this again... Nemo, we've been over this. that's so unprofessional and goes against a lot of ethical codes.”
“But she’s cute… she seems harmless.”
“or she’s a psycho…”
“c’monnnn, her? Nah, no way! She's so shy, despite seeing us so many times she is still really careful and shy. Sure. It has gotten better since the first time, and she’s always respectful to me, to us and listens to the security when the time is up. She's not problematic at all.”
“Right. I forgot it’s you who’s the problem here. not her.” Her bandmate joked in a burst of laughter.
“Hey!! that's rude.” Nemona pouted but shrugged off his statement.
“Anyway. Im going to do it.”
“Nemona… no.. what if she thinks youre a creep?”
“Nah.”
A sigh. The band member looked after Nemona getting up from the couch, Placing her guitar carefully against it, and then walked over to the glass window that held the view over the venue. Trying to see if she could spot the cute blue and red-haired girl that caught her shirt all those months ago. She wanted to see her, She wanted to get to know her. It was just something about her that had caught her interest.
She scanned the venue in silence for a bit until her band member walked up to her again, placing his hand on her shoulder.
“Nemo..seriously I don’t think this is a good idea, think about it. When has it ever gone well trying to date a fan?”
“...” Nemona didn’t answer and instead huffed. She knew that already and kept her eyes focused on the venue. life is too short to not take a leap of faith. Isn’t it?
The meet and greet started and about 20 minutes later it was Penny’s turn.
“H-Hey.” She greeted and Nemona shined up immediately when she spotted her fan she had taken a liking to. Grabbing her hand quickly. it was warm as always, Penny noted.
“Hey, you! You came~” Nemona grinned and Penny smiled shyly. “y-yeah of course, wouldn't miss your concert for anything…”
“awee, im charmed~ did you like the lil surprise for today?” Nemona asked, referring to her singing solo for a section of the game.
And boy did Penny have a lot of thoughts about that, gay ones. She had harshly pulled at Giacomo's arm and freaked out for a moment about hearing Nemona sing and how amazing she had been at it. she knew there was talk about Nemona could sing but hadn't sung for the group but today she had and it was the best thing Penny had heard ever. She was so cool and hot and amazing and- shit she needed to reply.
“you are amazing…I-I mean-! were amazing…” Penny mumbled and Nemona smiled gently letting go of her hand to sign the poster she put down in front of her when security signaled to hurry it up. “I’m glad, I practiced hard!”
“I’m sure you stayed up late to perfect it, right?” Penny smirked shyly
“I did! And I slammed dunk it, didn't I?” Nemona smirked back, keeping intense eye contact and Penny blushed from it and eventually averted her eyes elsewhere because she could not for the life of her look at her for too long without melting through the floor.
“a-anyway I should get going, it was nice seeing you again” Penny stuttered and was about to step out of the line when Nemona suddenly re-grabbed her hand. “w-wait.” Nemona said quietly and discreetly started to write something on her wrist and let go as soon she finished.
“Okay, bye now~~ See you next time” She smiled innocently and Penny hugged her wrist tightly, holding it against her chest, and blushed very hard.
“Y-y-yeah b-bye…” Penny stuttered and almost forgot her poster but swiftly grabbed it and then rushed out from there and her two friends immediately could tell something had happened and asked what was wrong and why on earth she was shaking like leaf, until she showed them her wrist.
“No way.”
“no stinking way. that cant be real. like- what- for real?????” Giacomo said grabbing her wrist to inspect it but penny took her wrist back with the black ink with a number written on it and ‘Nemo’ written next to it coupled with a heart.
“yes way!! She fucking gave me her number!! am I asleep? am I dead?”
“dude- you better write that down right away and not lose it like some cliche movie trope” Mela said.
“What do you think I’m doing?? and for your information- cliches work for a reason but there's no way im risking getting any water or smudging this” Penny said, already fishing up her phone from her pocket and typing it into her phone.
“Now comes the problem of it's you who has to contact her first” Giacomo laughed while Penny’s face cringed. “oh god please no… what do i even say??? do I call? do I text?? “
“how about you figure that out while we head to a tacobell? I’m starving” Giacomo chuckled once again and threw his arms around his two friends and started to walk towards the nearest tacobell.
“fuck…”
