Work Text:
Snake Eyes roared, the roar glitching, and exploded! Arëmag’s sword landed back in his hands, and all that was left was the speaker. It then played a few more notes, and exploded as well.
“We did it!” Said Nonio, and the Sloke cloud formed around them again, and everything became black.
Now they were back in the Desert Trail.
“Nice!” Said Nonio. “We’re at Carhan Canyon! I’ve heard that it’s a place that had an ancient history.”
“Well, know anything else about this place?”
“Yes, as a matter of fact. I think this is actually one of the smallest areas of the Golostverse! It’s also home to Tumbloids, sentient beings of rock that like to roll around. Being hit by a large rock at high speeds doesn’t feel great, as you can probably tell.”
TO SEE THIS AREA, PLAY THE GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT. FOR NOW, I LITERALLY HAVE NO IDEA HIW TO TURN IT INTO A STORY.
-ONE “TUMBLOID SUPREME” BOSS FIGHT LATER…-
“Huh…” said Arëmag. In front of them was a smallish castle.
“What’s that?” Asked Arëmag.
“That…” said Nonio. “That’s one of Gamëra’s castles. Be prepared, Arëmag. Gamëra won’t go down easy.”
They stepped into the castle, which looked like an arena.
A voice came. “Arëmag…”
“What?!” Asked Arëmag. “Who said that?!”
Something appeared from the darkness.
A black cloud with red eyes. The cloud seemed to be made out of Sloke.
“Allow me to introduce myself. I am Gamëra, lord and culmination of darkness. I have reason to believe that you are the prophesied hero, the one foretold to stop me. But I’ll prevent that. I’m not going to wait for you to come to me, I’m coming to you. Heheheh…now, prepare yourself, Arëmag, Lessnon, for I am no mere monster.”
Suddenly, a giant beam of Sloke shot out of Gamëra’s center, hitting Nonio! He fell backwards. Arëmag ran up to Gamëra, and swung at him with his sword, but the sword just went through him, not doing anything to him!
“Hah, I told you I wasn’t a mere monster. Now, it’s my turn.”
Gamëra shot four strands of Sloke out of him, which arced towards Arëmag, who barely avoided them all.
Nonio got back up, and punched at Gamëra. By random coincidence, he hit Gamëra’s eye! Gamëra let out a yell, and his body flickered a little. Gamëra immediately retaliated. Transparent large black circles appeared around the ground, one under Arëmag. He got out of the way, as Sloke shot out of the circles. Arëmag ran up and slashed Gamëra’s eye again. His body flickered again! Nonio hit the other eye as well. Gamëra’s body kept flickering, and Arëmag stabbed it. This time, it made contact! Gamëra roared, and faded into the darkness. All that was left was Gamëra’s voice.
“Arëmag… you may have defeated me, but I now know your power. Next time we meet, you will not be so lucky…but I am not done yet. Take…THIS!”
Suddenly, Sloke shot out of everywhere, engulfing Arëmag and Nonio, who passed out.
…
Arëmag opened his eyes. He was in a forest.
“How’d I get here…?” He said. “I was just in that castle…and where’s Nonio?”
Suddenly, he heard a voice.
“Halt! Stranger! Who are you?”
In front of him was a human-looking person, about his size. He had tanned skin, and a blue bandana on his head, which had black hair.
“Did you hear me? Who are you?”
Arëmag was snapped out of his thoughts. “O-oh, sorry. I’m Arëmag, and I arrived here somehow.”
“You appeared through a cloud of the dark energy the Clud uses. How am I to tell that you are not one of them?”
“Wait. ‘The Clud’?”
“Yes! A black cloud with red eyes.”
“You mean Gamëra?”
“No, I mean the Clud.”
Arëmag thought for a moment, then realized that he must refer to Gamëra as “the Clud”.
“Anyways, I’m not related to G…’the Clud’.”
“And how do you have proof? And even so, this place should be hidden from all others. How’d you get here?”
And so, Arëmag told his story, from fighting Gamëra, to waking up here.
“Ah, I see. But in any case, I’ll have to take you to our leader.”
Arëmag followed the person, and they eventually reached what looked like a village in the forest. Standing in the center of it was another person, with a red bandana. He had a spear.
“Who are you?” He asked.
Arëmag told him the same story.
“So…you say that you woke up here after fighting the Clud…or Gamëra, as you call it?”
“Yeah, I did.”
“Well, you’ll have to prove it to us. You’ll need to go through 3 challenges. But first, let me tell you the name of our tribe, which is also the name of our forest. We are the Tribe Of The Spear, or TOTS. We are all referred to as Totsers, although we don’t really like it. My name is Totso. No joke. Yes, my name is Totso Nojoke.
“Okay… what’s the first challenge?”
“Head deep into the forest. There you will find the Junglins, an evil race. Defeat an elite of their forces, and return here.”
“Okay, then. I’ll be back!”
Arëmag left into the forest, looking for the Junglins.
…
“Ugghh… where the heck am I? And where’s Arëmag?”
Nonio woke up, and saw that he was in an enormous garden. Like, kingdom-sized.
Suddenly, he heard a sound behind him! He turned around, and came face-to-face with an odd flower creature!
It had a mouth on its “flower” head, and a stalk for a body!
Nonio quickly dodged to the side as it swung at him with a long, razor-bladed leaf.
Nonio retaliated with a blow to the “head”, and soon after the thing withered to Sloke.
“Okay, the things here aren’t friendly,” Nonio said to himself. “But since when have I ever found a friendly creature with sharp teeth? Either way, I still gotta find a way out of this weird place.”
He proceeded through the place, seeing a giant castle in the distance. It seemed to be made out of plants, flowers, and other vegetation. Nonio decided he’d head there, because it stood out particularly in comparison to everything else, with vibrant colors.
…
Arëmag proceeded trough the forest, looking for “Junglins”. On his way, he found a few Razzers wearing bandanas with feathers on them.
They went down the same, except some fired arrows. But, only a short while after killing one of them, he fell into a large hole! It seemed to have been covered up with sticks and leaves.
When Arëmag got up, he looked around. He seemed to have landed on a pile of yellow flowers. He picked himself up, and walked through a gateway in front of him. This all seemed strangely familiar…
Then he saw a smiling flower.
“Oh,” said Arëmag. “Oh, no.”
“Howdy!” Said the flower. “I’m DARRYL! DARRYL the DAFFODIL!”
“No.”
“Golly, you’re new to the Underforest, arent’cha?”
“Stop.”
“Someone oughta teach you how things work around here! I guess lil’ ol me will have to do!”
“Do not.”
“Ready? Here we go!”
“No. Bye.” Arëmag turned and started to walk away. Suddenly, the gateway was covered in vines!
“Just WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU’RE GOING?!” Asked Darryl, suddenly changing his face to that of a more demonic one.
“To a place more copyright-friendly.”
“Well, TOO BAD! The only way out is through me!”
“…UGHHHH, fine.”
Darryl switched back to his original demeanor.
“See that? That’s your HEART, the very culmination of your being! To get stronger, you need LEECH!”
“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding-“
“Down here, LEECH is shared through…little, white… ‘Friendliness Circles’. You want some LEECH, don’t ya?”
“No, I really don’t.”
“Run around! Catch as many as you can!”
Naturally, Arëmag avoided them.
“Hey, buddy. You missed them. Let’s try again.”
“No.”
“You have to.”
“No.”
Suddenly, a fireball flew at Darryl, and sent him flying off!
“What a miserable creature, torturing such a poor, innocent…Wait. Are you a child?”
“What do you think?” Arëmag asked the goat woman in front of him. She was wearing purple robes, and there was an odd symbol on the robes.
“Anyways…my name is Tariol, guardian of the Brokens. Do not be afraid. I do not wish to harm you. What is your name, my child?”
“I told you, I’m not a child! But my name’s Arëmag.”
“That is a lovely name,” Tariol replied. “Now follow me. I will lead you through the Brokens.”
“Uh, actually, I-oh, um, okay then…?”
Said Arëmag as Tariol took his hand and led him through another gateway.
…
As Lessnonio was walking, he came across what looked like a shop stand, but it was made out of large leaves. Inside was one of those flower creatures, but it had green petals, along with a few other differences.
“Hello! Come on over! Don’t worry, I won’t bite!”
Cautiously, Nonio approached him. “Who are you?”
“My name is Flaarp, and I am a shopkeeper! As for why I’m not trying to kill you, I’m one of the remaining rebels.”
“Rebels?”
“Yeah, rebels! After Florius took over castle Floralia, things have really changed. I can see you still have a lot of questions, so I’ll answer them all. First, I’ll tell you the history of the Florans.”
“The Florans are an ancient race, hailing back from 17X4. We used to be a peaceful race, led by our *former* king, Fornlos.
But recently, someone else showed up, claiming to be known as ‘Florius’.
Florius attacked our king, and took his place. Using some kind of dark energy, he took over the minds of Florans who opposed him, turning them into beastly monsters with no mind except serving Florius’s orders.
The few who escaped the dark energy, fell into hiding. The beastly Florans still search for us to this day.”
“Wait,” said Nonio. “How have you not been found?”
“There’s this magic thing called ‘Plotholes’. Have you heard of them?”
“No?”
“Neither have I.”
“Also, that ‘dark energy’ may be Sloke!”
“No, it wasn’t slow. Quite fast, actually-“
“No, I mean Sloke. Energy used by Gamëra, a monster, to corrupt, destroy and create.”
“That must be what turned the Florans! Maybe Florius was created by… ‘Gamëra’, as you called him. Anyways, the Florans are hostile, but going on what you said, defeating the beastly Florans should bring them back to normal!”
“Uh, actually… I kinda defeated one earlier, and it sorta exploded into Sloke.”
“Don’t worry. They’re probably waking up in the dungeons of castle Floralia, back to their original selves. Please! I am begging you! Return Floralia to its former state, and defeat Florius!”
“I will! Don’t worry!”
And with that, Nonio headed off further towards castle Floralia.
…
“Okay, Toriel-“
“Tariol.”
“Tariol, fine, I kinda need to leave the Underforest, or whatever it’s called. I have an important mission up there.”
“My child, to leave the Underforest means passing through the Brokens, Haildin, Waterstream, Hotplace, the CENTER, and Agrose’s castle, to get to the BLOCKER, keeping us in the Underforest.”
“I…let’s just get this over with. I know how puzzles work, and everything, so bye woman!”
Arëmag started running through the Brokens, passing the puzzles, and eventually getting blocked by a white sheet ghost in the path.
“zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…”
“Hey, guy, can you wake up? I kinda need to get through.”
“zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…”
“Hello?”
“zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…”
“Buddy?”
“zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…”
“I’m going to hit you with a stick now.”
“zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…”
Arëmag hit the ghost with a stick and entered a battle, as his HEART came out.
“oh….. he didn’t leave….. now i have to fight him…….”
NAPSTERBLOCK FLEW FORTH!
Arëmag looked at his options.
ATTACK
DO STUFF
INVENTORY
EXIT STAGE RIGHT
“Bye.” Arëmag pressed the fourth option, and ran.
“oh….. did i scare them…… oh no………..”
And Napsterblock vanished, as Arëmag eventually came to a house. He ran through it, and ran downstairs, and got to an exit. He opened the door, went through, and…
Oh. Great.
“Howdy! I hope you didn’t forget about me!”
“Unfortunately…”
“Hey now, buddy, why the sour attitude? It’s only me, your best bud!”
“Just get your monologue over with so I can get out of here.”
“Why in such a rush?”
“EVERYTHING HERE IS A BLATANT RIP-OFF!”
“Is it? Or is this the original, being ripped off?”
“Dude. Undertale came out over 7 years ago.”
“Or did it?”
“Darryl, just shut up and leave.”
“Okay, fine.”
Darryl retreated into the ground, and Arëmag left the Brokens, proceeding to Haildin.
-
Arëmag walked down a snowy path, but he swore he could hear footsteps behind him. As he got to a gate, he heard a voice behind him.
“Human. Don’t you know how to greet a new pal? Turn around… and s h a k e m y h a n d .”
Arëmag turned around, and shook the person’s hand. The person was a skeleton in a blue hoodie and pink slippers.
“heh heh heh. the old whoopee-cushion-in-the-hand trick. it’s always funny. anyways, nice to meet ya. the name’s sans. sans the skeleton.”
“Wait… Your name’s Sans? Not Snas, or Skels, or something? Actually Sans?”
“of course. what else would it be?”
“I don’t know, something borderline-copyright?”
“i’m the real sans, kid. not some knock-off.”
“But…how?”
“i can pass through the multiversal timelines. canon has nothing on me.”
“Okay…can you get me out of the Underforest?”
“no can do, kid. sorry.”
“Why?!”
“i mean, i have the capability of doing it, but it’s more fun for me and the readers to see you suffer.”
“The readers?”
“nevermind. up ahead, you’ll meet my ‘brother’, papperoni.”
“Seriously? ‘Papperoni?’ The author is really running out of ideas.”
“true. anyways, papperoni wants to capture a human. so, he’d really like it if you showed yourself to him, or something. oh, here he comes now. quick, hide behind that conveniently shaped… thing!”
Arëmag got behind it, and a taller skeleton wearing a red cape, shoes and gloves came up to Sans.
“hey. sup?”
“YOU KNOW WHAT’S ‘SUP’, BROTHER! IT’S BEEN 85 SECONDS, AND YOU STILL HAVEN’T RECALIBRATED YOUR TRAPS! WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING??”
“staring at whatever this ungodly abomination is. it’s really cool. wanna look?”
“OKAY!” Papperoni walked up to the thing.
…
As Nonio approached a tower made out of a plant stem, he was stopped by another Floran, but bigger!
It spoke in a warbling, uneven voice.
“HaLt! WHaT aRe yOu dOinG HeRe?” (etc., just pretend everything the Floran says looks like that due to time limitations)
“I want to pass through.”
“Do you have permission from King Florius?”
“No?”
“Then I, one of the Elite Florans shall END YOU!”
The Elite Floran reached one of its tentacles back, then shot it forward like a whip at Nonio! He ducked, and followed with a blow to the head! It reared back, then spun around rapidly, its tentacles flying everywhere! Nonio ducked under them as they came, then hit the head once more. The Elite Floran roared, and vanished into Sloke. Nonio climbed up the stairs of the tower, and at the top, there was a note and a lever.
Looking forwards, Nonio could see the castle from a better view. It seemed to be blocked by a barrier of Sloke.
The note read:
To Jimbo
Remove the ‘Forcefield Switch’. Why would you even include these in the tower? It’s not like some hero will go on a bold quest to find all 4 towers and pull the lever to get into the castle for some epic showdown. This is not a video game, or a story. There is no need for a switch. Just keep the forcefield on forever. This is your final warning.
Sincerely,
King Florius
“Lucky me,” Said Nonio as he pulled the lever. The castle’s forcefield immediately vanished. Nonio noticed another note.
And no, I did not mean make so only one switch disables the forcefield. You’re fired.
Slightly annoyed,
King Florius
“That’s lucky,” commented Nonio, and he exited the tower, and continued onwards to Castle Floralia.
…
“OH. MY. GOD!!!” exclaimed Papperoni, seeing Arëmag behind the conveniently-shaped thing. “SANS! IS THAT… A HUMAN?”
“yea.”
“WOWIE! …WELP, I GUESS THAT SETTLES IT! BYE! NYAH HA HA HA!!!!”
Papperoni walked off, then came back, before leaving again. “HA.”
“well, that went well.” said Sans. “don’t worry, i’ll keep an eye-socket out for y-“
Arëmag grabbed Sans by the shoulders.
“GET ME OUTTA HERE, MAN! I CAN’T TAKE THIS!!”
“sorry, no can do. see ya around, kid.”
With that, Sans vanished.
Arëmag sighed deeply. “Ughhhhhh, this is going to take foreverrrr…”
…
Nonio reached the castle, but it was blocked by 2 Floran guards! They instantly pulled out spears, and charged at him!
ONE FLORAN BASH LATER…
Both guards were defeated, and Nonio entered the castle, seemingly overgrown with large spiky vines. In the center of the room was a giant Floran, if you can even call him that.
“GYUH HUH HUH HUH… I SEE YOU HAVE COME TO STOP ME, AS GAMËRA INFORMED ME. I WILL NOT BEND OVER SO EASILY TO YOU. PREPARE YOURSELF, PUNY MORTAL, FOR I, KING FLORIUS, KING OF ALL THINGS GARDEN-Y, AND THE SUPREME LEADER OF ALL FLORANS!“
Florius emitted a loud roar, and one of the Floran heads on his tentacles lunged forwards at Nonio!
…
It had been a long, long, LONG, LONG time, but Arëmag had passed Papperoni in Haildin, beaten Undyin’ in Waterstream, defeated MetalTone with the help of Dr. Elfius in Hotplace and the CENTER (all of which may be in a spin-off Fanfic), and had finally made it to king Agrose’s castle.
“It seems your journey is coming to an end,” came a mysterious voice.
“Hi, Sans,” groaned Arëmag, so tired his voice was slurred.
“heya, kid. looks like you’re nearing the end of this unnecessary long trip. had fun?”
“No.”
“great to hear, kid. so, you’re gonna fight agrose, blah blah blah, kill him or don’t, whatever. see ya.”
And Sans vanished, as Arëmag entered the throne room.
“Dum dee dum…” a large, burly goat man was standing there in front of the flowers.
“Oh! Is someone there? I have”
ONE LONG MONOLOGUE LATER…
“It was nice to meet you…Goodbye.”
Agrose plunged his spear into the “EXIT STAGE RIGHT” button, but his trident got stuck in it!
“Grr, cursed box…” grumbled Agrose as he struggled to pull the trident free.
Arëmag picked up a stick, and swatted Agrose with it. Suddenly, he dropped to his knees.
“-! …So that is how it is.”
ANOTHER LONG MONOLOGUE LATER…
“You IDIOT!” Came Darryl’s voice as he killed Agrose with a Friendly Circle.
“You haven’t learned a thing. In this world… it’s KILL, OR BE KILLED. Hahahahah! HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHH
GOLOST-GAME OF LEGENDS (OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT): THE BOOK!
Once upon a time, a human named Arëmag wakes up in a strange new realm, full of fantastical creatures, some more dangerous than others.
ONE DAY, THEY ALL DISAPPEARED WITHOUT A TRACE.
“I FINALLY HAVE THE HUMAN HEARTS! AND NOW I WILL KILL YOU!”
Just then, Sans appeared.
“heya, kid. the readers would prefer this blatant rip-off to end, so here ya go.”
…
Arëmag appeared back in the middle of the forest, and came face-to-face with an odd wooden creature with a large white bag on its head, reading “G” in red letters. There were eyes on the wooden part, and a mouth.
Arëmag hid behind a tree. The Junglins stared at where he had vanished from their view.
‘Okay, what do I do to those things?’
Arëmag ran past the Junglins as he set them all on fire, them all panicking. After Arëmag was far enough, he turned around to look.
“…That isn’t good.”
A voice came from a speaker attached to the thing. Out came Gamëra’s voice.
“Yet another brilliant design by yours truly…I call this thing ‘Totëmo’! Not only have I added back ‘SFTMS’, in addition to the newest, cutting-edge, state-of-the-art technology, which has been added to this Junglin-piloted device, which I call ‘BADDIE BLASTER’! BB lets my creations shoot out monsters! Have fun, Arëmag… TOTËMO! SHOW NO MERCY!”
The speaker shut off, and Totëmo came at Arëmag.
