The Magic Land

Notes:

Let me tell you a story. A long time ago, in third grade, when tasked with making a story, I wrote this. Except it was much worse, had no grammar, bad spelling, and was unfinished. Now, many years later, I have rewritten it...twice. This is the second rewrite you are seeing.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Alex was a 10-year-old kid lost in the haunted forest. A monster was chasing him. It then cornered him, and said- “GET UP, YOU LAZY PILE OF BONES!” Alex woke up. “WELL!?” Screeched the headmaster of the orphanage Alex was in. “DON’T YOU EVEN WANT YOUR RAW EGGS AND WARM MILK?!” Alex sighed. This was his routine every day. Same food, same people, same everything. Until, of course, that one day.

...

It was the middle of the night. It was nearing 3:00 AM when he heard a faint noise. It sounded somewhat like an “ales... ALEX...” he heard it clearly now. It was, for sure, an “Alex”. He sat up sharply and looked around. There was no one in sight. Alex started to go back to bed when he heard an annoyed “Behind you...”

So, slowly, he turned around and saw... a sort of white mist in his room. “Huh, that’s weird,” He thought to himself. But then, the mist started taking humanoid form! It, or SHE, had short white hair, white eyes with no pupils, a small white fang, and was hovering a few feet off the ground. “Hello, Alex. I’ve been waiting a long time for you.”

“Who-WHAT are you?!” Sputtered Alex.

“My name...I honestly have forgotten my name after all this time. I only remember fractions of it. The closest name to my original I can think of is...Sierra. I have come from afar to ask you to save the world.”

“Wha-why? How?!”

“Because you are the prophet.”

“But-why me?! And how do I know this isn’t a dream? I’d rather stay here.”

“Very well, then,” Said Sierra. “I guess I’ll leave. You can stay here at the orphanage. I wish you a good life.” She started to fade back into white mist.

“...WAIT!” Yelled Alex.

“Yes?” Replied Sierra, popping back into humanoid form surprisingly fast.

“If it means leaving this awful place... then okay. I’ll go. But at least let me tell my friends.” “Naturally,” Said Sierra. “Tomorrow, after lunch, meet me outside with your friends.” Just then, Alex heard footsteps. Sierra quickly faded into mist and flew out the window, and Alex pretended to be asleep. The door swung open, and one of the adults entered.

“Hmm... I thought I heard something. Nevermind...” he closed the door and left.

 Morning, after breakfast...

Alex went to his friends, Bill, Emma, and Mark, and told them about the events that transpired the previous night.

“WHAT?!” Cried Bill.

“SERIOUSLY?!” Yelled Emma.

“YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!”Exclaimed Mark.

“It’s true!” Said Alex.

“Wait-lemme get this straight,” Said Emma, thinking. “So...you’re some kinda world-saver, and so are we?”

“Correct.” Said Alex.

“WE’RE GOING ON AN ADVENTURE?!” Screamed Mark out of joy.

“Don’t get TOO excited, Mark,” Said Emma. “It might be dangerous.”

“Yeah, but we should also have fun, as well!” Said Bill.

“Fair point.” Said Emma.

“So, after lunch, right?” Asked Bill.

“Yep.” Replied Alex.

“So we just gotta survive until then!” Said Mark. Emma sighed. “Mark, that joke wasn’t funny the first time you told it.” Suddenly, a loud voice came from one of the adults. “TIME TO GO OUTSIDE FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES! GO BEFORE WE PUNISH YOU!” Suddenly, Alex saw Sierra behind him. She seemed to tap his shoulder, then vanish. He whipped around. “What...? Huh, I must be feeling things.”

After lunch...

Alex, Emma, Bill, and Mark met outside to see Sierra.

“Everyone ready?” She asked.

“Yeah!” Said Alex. “We’re-“

“WHAT ARE YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE BRATS DOING OUT HERE?!” Came the voice of the Headmaster. “YOU SHOULD BE INSIDE! AND...Who the heck is that?” He asked, looking at Sierra. Thinking fast, she held out her hands at him, and he was engulfed in white light! When it left, he was a... frog! He croaked in surprise.

“Sierra!” Said Alex.

“We’ve got to hide, quickly!” Said Sierra. Emma scooped up the frog in her hands, and they all followed Sierra.

They entered the cave that Alex had found with his friends a long time ago. They walked over to the mysterious rock that looked like an ancient symbol.

“Now, to open it, I need something.”

“What is it?” Asked Alex.

“A carving knife.” She replied, taking it out of thin air.

“Wow, can you do anything?” Asked Mark.

“Not really,” replied Sierra. “Most of this just comes naturally to me, but I need cooldowns in- between a lot of magic.” She then carved something into the rock.

“What’s that?” Asked Emma.

“The four main sections of the Magic World,” replied Sierra. Suddenly, a crack appeared in the rock, and it swung open like a doorway! They entered it.

...

They stepped into a room. It was like a winter night; dark and cold. “Where are we?” Asked Alex. “We are in the in-between, the gateway between the Magic world, and the human world.” Replied Sierra. Mark charged forwards.

“Wait!” Called Alex, but he ignored him. Suddenly, a large bump in the ground appeared, sending him flying back with a loud -THUMP!-. Out of the ground came a giant worm-thing!

“AAAHHHH!” Yelled Bill. “A GIANT WORM THING!”

“That is the guardian of the in-between, Mooda.” Said Sierra. “He challenges people who try to get into the Magic world, to prove that they’re worthy. Only the heroes are allowed pass through this place.”

“CHOSEN ONE, YOU HAVE FINALLY COME. COME, FIGHT ME. I

WILL TEST YOUR STRENGTH. YOU MUST BE WORTHY IF YOU

DESIRE PASS.”

He lunged at them, and they swiftly dodged. He then burrowed under the ground.

“So, we’re fighting him,” Said Alex. “Okay. Here we go!”

They all followed him into the hole he made. Soon, they reached a big, tan rock. “Oh, come in!” Said Mark. “Now we’ve got to break our way through!” They started hitting it. It felt soft...strange. Suddenly, the “rock” started to move, and launched off away! “I think that was Mooda!” Said Alex. “Wait!” Said Sierra. “He’s behind you!”

“What?” Asked Emma. “How?!”

“Oh, he’s digging out of the ground, and returning to the first hole.” Said Bill.

“RUN!!” Yelled Sierra. They started running, Mooda right behind them. They reached the edge, where there was a tall cliff, or the second hole.

“I have an idea,” Said Emma, still holding the frog. “Get ready to jump when I say to. Ready? JUMP!” They all jumped, and landed on Mooda’s forehead, and rode him up, the frog screaming. Mooda got out of the tunnel. “Wait,” Said Alex. “How do we hurt him?“

“Here,” Said Sierra. “They may not be the best swords, but they’ll do.” Alex struck Mooda’s head, but it bounced off!

“You need to hit his weak spot,” Said Sierra.

“And where’s that?” Asked Bill.

“Hey, how about that gem on his forehead?” Asked Emma.

Suddenly, Mooda opened his mouth, and a slimy, long tongue came out like a tentacle! It got ready to hit them, when Alex charged last and plunged his sword into Mooda’s green forehead gem! It

shattered, and Mooda roared, shaking them off him. He started vibrating.

“CONGRATULATIONS, HEROES. YOU HAVE PASSED. PLEASE,

SAVE OUR WORLD...”

He started disintegrating slowly, until he was no more.

“Now, then,” Said Sierra. “Time to enter the Magic Land.”

A neon purple door appeared. They stepped through it, and it closed behind them .

In a dark and gloomy-looking castle somewhere... There were four figures.

There was Rocko, the brute. There was Mysteria, the clever ninja. There was Dimming Candle, the magician, and finally there was Black Chaos, the leader of the group. They were all bent on turning the world dark.

“Ugh, when will anything EXCITING happen?” Complained Mysteria, groaning and folding her arms. “YEAH, I’M BORED!” Agreed Rocko.

“Be patient...” Said Dimming Candle. “I’m sure something shall come up.”

“Yes,” Said Black Chaos. “I already sense the heroes coming into this world.”

Mysteria uncrossed her arms, an interested smile on her face. “Really? Well then, let’s ‘welcome’ them!”

“Yes, let’s,” Said Dimming Candle.

“As you wish...” Said Black Chaos.

“LET ME GO FIRST, BOSS!!” Said Rocko.

“What?!” Asked Mysteria. “I wanted to go first!”

“You all will get a turn in good time,” said Black Chaos.

“Ugh, FIIIINE,” said Mysteria.

Rocko vanished in a puff of smoke.

Meanwhile, Alex, Bill, Emma, Mark, Sierra, and the frog had just made it into a vast desert. “Boy, it’s hot!” Remarked Bill. “Where are we?”

“We are in the land of fire,” Said Sierra. “It’s a hot place.”

“Yeah, I noticed that.” Said Mark.

“So, what are we looking for here?” Asked Alex. “A Sacred Stone.” Replied Sierra. Suddenly, a big statue shot out of the ground!

 “Whoa!” Said Alex. “What’s that?”

“It’s a Guardian Statue,” Said Sierra. “It protects treasure and other cool things.”

“How to we beat it?” Asked Emma. “It’s said that they were built by an ancient race,” answered Sierra. “They were intended to be unstoppable, so I don’t know. Try your best, I guess?”

The statue suddenly burst to life! It grabbed them and threw them on the ground, making a devastating -WHUMP!- sound. It then moved back to a neutral position.

“I think I saw a control panel when we were picked up!” Said Mark. They ran around the now dormant statue, and saw something like this:

“I have an idea!” Said Mark. He started pushing random buttons.

“Stop!” Yelled Emma. But, of course, being Mark, he paid them no mind. The panel exploded, and the statue started jerking around glitchily. It then spoke in a very glitchy TTS voice.

“*BOOP*. I AM ERROR. CIRCUT MAINFRAME, LOWER TORSO WIRES, AND PANCREAS ARE NOT RESPONDING. RECONNECTING... APOLOGIES, IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE KEYBOARD CONNECTING PROBLEMS. NO KEYS ARE RESPONDING. PRESS ‘F’ TO PAY RESPECTS. *BEEP BOP* ATTEMPTING TO RECONNECT CENTRAL CIRCUITBOARD... CONNECTION LOST. WAY TO GO, GENIUS. WHHY AM I SAYING THESE THINGS. WHAT IS MY LIFE. BOOOOOOOOOOOP. KABLAMMO.”

After saying the word “Kablammo”, it exploded, sending its head flying off.

“...I think that you broke it.” Said Emma.

“Yep!” Said Mark. They went into the hole that the statue made.

 ...

They landed in an ancient cavern. There was a treasure chest!

“Let’s open it!” Said Mark. They did so, and found... a note. Ancient, fancy writing was inscribed on it.

“It says...” Said Sierra, looking at it.

“‘YOU DONE BEEN PRANKED, YA NO-HOS!’”

“Wait, what-“ started Emma. Suddenly, panels of the wall flipped up, revealing arrow shooters! “As if the statue wasn’t protection enough!” Said Emma, and they ran for their lives! An arrow shot Bill’s shirt, pinning him to the wall! An arrow flew at him, when-something-or SOMEONE freed him and shoved him out of the way!

“Who are you?!” Asked Emma. “No time to explain!” Said the person. “Move!”

They all ran. Eventually, they made it out!

“Okay,” he said. “My name is Leo, and I’m a traveler. You must be the prophets.”

“That’s right!” Said Alex. Suddenly, another chest appeared!

“Let’s open it!” Said Mark, but was pulled back by Bill. “That’s obviously a trap.” He said.

A sign popped out of the side of the chest, with a red arrow pointing to it. The sign said “Totally not a trap”. “See?” Asked Emma. “It clearly is!”

Another sign appeared on the other side. “If you open this I promise you’ll get a good thing”

“No we won’t! It is a trap!” Said Emma.

Another sign, appearing out of the first sign. “Is not”

“Just open the other one that clearly isn’t blatantly a trap,” Said Emma, looking at another.

Another sign. “No it isn’t PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE CHEST TO THE RIGHT”

Emma opened it. In it was a small statuette, along with a note, written in the same writing. “You suck”

“That small object is called a Totem,” Said Sierra. “You’ll need four to make something special. That Totem is called the Power Totem. Three more to go!” The wall behind the chest moved, revealing a plaque.

“Congratulations, hero. You have obtained the Power Totem,” read Sierra. “You got it by charging

your way through the copious dangers. The next is located in a town of flames.”

“Huh,” Said Emma. “A town of flames... hmm...”

“Maybe there’s a town or village here,” Said Sierra.

“Let’s go there, then!” Said Leo. They got out of the caverns, and walked through the desert for what seemed like forever, until they reached reached a town. It was a small village, surrounded by flames. The buildings were made out of a hardened clay-like substance. There was a stand, with a weird creature in it. It looked like a turtle with a volcano in its back. “That’s a Hofter,” said Sierra. “They are pretty hot-headed, and study ancient things. They are this section’s inhabitants.

“Come one, come all!” Announced the shopkeeper. “I have defense items, offense items, and more!” “Hey, let’s get something!” Said Mark.

“Okay,” said Sierra. “It would probably help us on our way.”

They approached him. “Hello! I haven’t seen your kind in a long time... my name is Hotto! Yours?” “My name is Mark,” said Mark. “And this is Alex, Emma, Bill, Sierra, and...” he looked at the frog, which looked very throughly confused. “This is...Frogbert.” The frog whipped his head at Mark and halted at him.

“Well, what would you all like?” Hotto asked.

“Hmm,” though Mark. “What do you have?”

“I have swords, shields, bombs, bows, arrows, digging claws, which can be used to tunnel, and a wand. What’ll you have?”

“I’ll take a shield,” said Alex.

“Digging Claws,” said Bill.

“Wand,” said Emma.

“I’ll take the bombs!” Said Mark.

“And I’ll take your bow and all your arrows.” Said Sierra.

“Okay, that’ll be 239 cloins,” said Hotto.

“Cloins?” Asked Alex.

“The currency in this region.” Replied Sierra. “I’ll cover you, but next time I won’t have that much.” “Here ya go!” Said Hotto, handing the stuff over.

“Alright, time to find that Totem!” Said Alex.

“I’ll dig to find it!” Said Bill, and he burrowed underground.

“While he searches down there, we should look up here.” Said Sierra. “Great idea!” Replied Emma, and they started looking. Thy eventually found a building doused in flames. “How do we get in?

“ asked Alex.

“You can’t,” said a passing Hofter. “That place’s been sealed off for a long time. No one can enter or leave.” He then walked away. Then, they heard Bill calling down from below, faintly.

“Hey guys? I think I found something... interesting. You might want to come down and look. Like, now!”

“How?” Asked Emma. “I know!” Exclaimed Mark. He threw a bomb.

“No!” They yelled, but it was too late. BOOM! It... didn’t have a big blast radius at all.”

“Oops! Forgot to tell ya that,” said Hotto from afar. “You need to upgrade them for bigger blast

radiuses. Actually, everything at my shop can be upgraded! But not here. Otherwise I’d sell them upgraded already. Like your wand, Emma! Upgrading it gives you more spells!”

They entered the small hole the bomb made. They were in another cavern.

“Bill?!” They called out. No answer.

“BILL?!” They repeated. Still no response. They rushed forwards, until they reached a lake filled with what seemed like acid.

“How are we gonna get past?!” Asked Emma. Mark went close to investigate. Suddenly, he tripped on a rock, and went rumbling in!

For some reason, he didn’t die. “Hey, wait a second!” Said Mark, putting a bit on his finger and licking it. “It’s not acid! IT’S PUDDING! WE CAN EAT PUDDING WITH A SPOON!! ...Ahem. You all can come in! And eat a little bit, too!”

NOTE: FOR ANYONE WHO DOESN’T KNOW HOMESTAR RUNNER WOULD SEE THAT SCENE AS NON-SEQUITUR.

They all walked through the lake, which wasn’t that deep. On the tiger side, they called out again. “Bill?!”

“Y-yes?” Bill responded weakly.

“Where are you?!” Asked Emma.

“In here. Please come quickly...” they rushed over to him. He was cornered! There was an awful- looking wound in him. There was a monster closing in on him! It had a tan body, stripes on its torso, tentacles for arms, no eyes, and a gaping mouth. It was about to finish him off, when- EeeeeTHWUNK! Sierra shot it.

“Stupid Razzer...” she muttered. The Razzer let out a terrible screech, and turned around. It charged at them wildly!

“Now you made it mad!” Shouted Leo. They jumped out of the way, and it turned around and tan at them again! It slashed at Alex! SHING! A bloody gash was on his face!

“Wait!” Said Emma. “My wand! I bet that it can heal you!” She touched her wand to his face. Slowly, the gash got smaller and smaller, until it vanished! Alex slashed a tentacle off with his sword!

“You need to cut off its tentacles, then stab its heart!” Said Sierra. Alex cut off the other tentacle, and impaled it through the heart! It reeled back in pain, and fell to the ground, vanishing in a combination of black and purple smoke.

“Monsters created by evil dot shy when defeated,” explained Sierra. “You all right?” Asked Emma to Bill. “I don’t know...” said Bill.

“Hold on,” said Emma, healing Bill with her staff.

“Alright,” said Leo. “Let’s find the Totem!” The kept searching for it. They entered a door, and were in a room lined with stone bricks. There were a bunch of lit torches. Alex then found an unlit torch! He held out the Power Totem. It shot out a fireball, lighting the torch! An opening formed in the wall.

They stepped through, and found a chest. They owned it, and found another Totem! A stone in the wall shifted, to reveal another plaque.

“You have obtained the Wisdom Totem. You have used your mind to solve a puzzle, and thus got this. The next is located in a sprawling desert. Make haste, hero.” They set off, again. They made it to the surface again, and were in a desert, a few miles off from the town. Suddenly, an oversized scorpion popped out of the sand! It had a very long tail, and only one eye!

“What is THAT?” Asked Alex.

“That’s a Scorpin,” said Sierra. “An oversized Scorpion. They latch onto a person, and sting them like crazy until they die.”

“Okay... this’ll be easy!” Said Mark. Just then, 5 more came out of the ground! “Okay... never mind.” “They come in groups.” Said Sierra. The Scorpins all lunged at Alex, latching on! They stung him over and over. He shook them off, but he was weak from the stings.

“Look out!” Said Mark, tossing a bomb. It exploded, killing all the Scorpins! Emma tried to heal Alex, but nothing happened! “I could upgrade my staff,” she said. “But they would take too long.”

“Let’s find a healer!” Said Mark. They walked over to the town, Bill carrying Alex.

In the town...

“Anyone know where a healer is, by any chance?”

One Hofter came up. “There used to be a healer in that fiery building.”

“Hey, aren’t you the person from before who told us we couldn’t get into that building?” Asked Emma.

“Yep,” he said. “That’s me! Old man Hoftey. I know a lot about this place’s past.”

“We need to get into that building.” Said Leo.

“Well, I can’t get in, but the heroes can, whoever they are...” Hoftey explained. “It’s said to be sacred, holy flames that only the heroes can pass through.”

“Well then,” said Bill. “Let’s go in!” They all walked into the flames, and passed through.

“WAIT!” Yelled Hoftey. “YOU’RE THE HEROES?! Let me come with you! Please! Not through the flames, I mean, but join you later!”

“Are you sure? You’re kinda old.” Said Mark.

“I may be old, but this old rock’s been in his fair share of battles. You won’t regret letting me come.” “Well, okay.” Said Sierra.

“I’ll wait outside,” said Hoftey. “I wish you luck finding the healer!” “You know, I will too,” said Leo. “To keep him company.”

“Okay?” Said Sierra.

“Guys?” Asked Emma. “The headmaster passed through as well without combusting.”

Everyone stared at the frog in Emma’s hand. It croaked in confusion. Suddenly, a gate slammed shut behind them!

“That doesn’t matter,” said Emma. “We can’t waste any time. Let’s find the healer.”

They looked for a while, until they found a Hofter, sitting on a sofa, sleeping.

 “Hey!” Called Mark.

“-Snrk-WHAT?! What?!” The Hofter sat up sharply.

“Um, sir...” said Emma. “You’re aware that your house is on fire?”

“What?” He asked. “Oh, right. Yeah, I’ve noticed. I clearly can’t leave, and my bones aren’t what they used to be. I’ve accepted living here. Anyways, you guys are the heroes, right? I assume you came here for a healer?”

“That’s right.” Said Bill.

“Well, that’s me.” The Hofter said.

He suddenly launched a rock out of his volcano, hitting Alex in the stomach. He suddenly jerked up. “What the-?” Asked Emma.

“There. He should be better now. Now scram. I’m tired.” He promptly fell backwards, asleep.

“Well, let’s get out of here.” Said Mark, and they all looked for the exit, with Alex healed.

...

“Okay, we’re back!” Said Alex. “Hey, Leo, and...?”

“Hoftey. Pleased to meet ya!”

“So, now that we’ve finished this detour, can we go to the desert already?” Asked Leo impatiently. “Why do you even want to do this?” Asked Emma. “You’re not even a hero.”

“...” said Leo. “Well, I guess the jig’s up.” Suddenly, a dark cloud engulfed him! When it faded, Leo was gone! I’m his place, was a larger man, giant arms, and a beard! He had red eyes.

“What the-? Who are you?!” Demanded Alex.

“MY NAME IS ROCKO!” He announced. “AND I AM ONE OF THE EVIL-SEEKERS, AND I WILL SINGLEHANDEDLY PLUNGE YOUR WORLD INTO DARKNESS!!”

“‘Our world’?!” Asked Alex.

“YES, WHAT I BELIEVE YOU CALL ‘EARTH’. BAHA-BAHA-BAHA-BAHA!!”

“Not if we have anything to say about it!” Said Alex, drawing his sword.

“BAHA-BAHA!!” Rocko laughed. “WE’LL SEE ABOUT THAT!”

The battle had begun!

Rocko VS. the Heroes!

Rocko broke a large chunk of rock out of the ground, and threw it at them! Hoftey grabbed it, and threw it back! Rocko grabbed it, and threw it back again! It became a fatal game of catch! Back, and forth, back and forth, back, and forth, back, and... down? It hit Rocko on the head!

“OUCH! THAT HURT!!” He yelled. “YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO TRY THAT AGAIN!” He jumped, and slammed both fists onto the ground! Two Razzers appeared next to him in a puff of smoke!

“I’ll handle Rocko!” Said Hoftey. “You all take care of the Razzers!”

Hoftey ran at Rocko, and tackled him. Rocko threw him off, and the Razzers charged at everyone else. Sierra readied her bow, and killed one with a single shot. Alex chopped the tentacles off the other one, and stabbed it.

Rocko glared at Hoftey, then leaped into the air! He then slammed down, creating a giant crack in the ground, and knocking Hoftey over. Hoftey leaned forwards, shook a little... and lava shot out of his volcano! It hit Rocko squarely in the chest!

“URGH! THAT DOES IT!!” He jumped into the air again, and Hoftey rolled out of the way right before Hoftey landed on him. Rocko immediatly did it again, and Hiftey rolled away again. The third time, Hoftey readied a fist, and Rocko landed on it. The force was so powerful that Rocko was sent flying into the air, until he was out of sight. He turned around. “You guys okay?”

“Yep.” Replied Sierra. “The Evil-Seekers are a group of evildoers that want to plunge the world into darkness. Rocko was the weakest of them, so it’s only going to get harder from here. Anyways, the desert, right? Let’s go there.”

...

They were mostly unimpeded throughout the trip, until the ground started shaking. Some sand parted, and an enormous Scorpin jumped out of the sand! It was colored black, unlike the other Scorpins, which were white. It had four giant claws, its legs looked very sharp and strong, and its stinger was huge!

“That’s a King Scorpin,” said Sierra. “A commander of Scorpin armies. It’s one of the only species of the Scorpin race that has intelligence. Be wary, as it seems it wants a fight.”

The Beast roared, and rushed at Bill. He jumped out of the way, and Alex hit its body with the sword. It made a CLANG noise, but nothing else happened!

“These things are covered in a sort of natural armor,” Sierra explained. “Hit the sections in-between armor plates.”

Alex raised his sword, and slashed in-between the plates. The King Scorpin reeled back. It then raised its tail, and shot a giant orb out of it! Emma dodged, but 3 Scorpins came out of the orb as it exploded! They all went for Mark. He threw bombs, and eliminated them. The King Scorpin roared, and ran at them. Alex dodged, and Sierra shot an arrow into its eye! Its legs fell off, and its plates of armor fell off, revealing a single Scorpin there. It looked at them, and hastily burrowed into the sand, away from them.

“Hey-THAT THING HAD A TOTEM ATTACHED TO IT!!” Yelled Emma. “Follow it!” Said Sierra.

They all dove into the hole it had made:

In the castle...

“So, you think he’ll be back soon?” Asked Mysteria. “I’m getting bored.”

“You’re always bored,” said Dimming Candle. “I’m sure he’ll be back any sec-“ he was cut of by Rocko breaking through the wall, and crash-landing into a podium. He slowly slid down it, and fell onto the ground.

“Way to make an entrance, Rocko...” said Mysteria.

“I...HAVE RETURNED!” Announced Rocko. “I...WAS FLUNG HERE.”

“Flung here?” Asked Black Chaos. “It doesn’t matter!” Said Mysteria. “I’m gonna go next, RIGHT NOW!” Before anyone could say anything, she slammed her palmed together, and vanished in a puff of grey smoke.

Under the sand...

“WHO DARES DISTURB MY SLUMBER?!” Came a thundering voice. In front of Alex and the gang was a Scorpin 10 times the size of the King Scorpin. It had 3 tails, and its pincers had cannons in them.

“Who are you?” Asked Emma.

“I AM THE SUPREME SCORPIN, COMMANDER OF ALL THE SCORPINS! YOU PUNY HUMANS SHALL DIE AT MY HAND! ...THAT IS, IF YOU WISH TO BARGAIN FOR THE TOTEM?”

Emma thought. “How about... If you give us the Totem, we’ll give you... a...”

“This is taking too long, gimme that.” Said Sierra, flying over to the Supreme Scorpin, and swiped the Totem from its claw. “Guys, get out of here!”

Everyone followed Bill, who dug a tunnel out. They heard the Supreme Scorpin’s cries getting fainter.

“YOU FOOLS! FROM NOW ON, THE SCROPIN RACE SHALL BE AFTEr you!!!”

They got out of the tunnel.

“One Totem to go, and then... what do we do with them?” Asked Alex.

“We’ll use them to get into the temple that houses a Sacred Stone.” Replied Sierra.

“Where’s the last one?” Asked Emma. “There wasn’t a plaque to tell us where to go...”

“Uh, guys?” Asked Bill. “I feel strange...” suddenly, he was engulfed in purple and blue light, and he suddenly vanished with a yell!

“BILL!” Yelled Alex.

“What happened?!” Yelled Emma.

“He certainly didn’t die...” Said Sierra. “That void must’ve sent him somewhere else...”

“So he’s okay?!” Asked Mark.

“Yes, I believe so...” replied Sierra. “We need to focus on the last Totem now. I’m sure he’ll turn up later. We don’t have any time to waste!”

Suddenly, another void appeared, and the last Totem fell out!

“Now we find the temple.” Said Sierra.

...

After a lot of searching, they reached it. Alex placed all of the Totems together, and the morphed into a key! Alex inserted it into the keyhole, and the doors swung open.

Inside the temple...

It was a peaceful garden, with plants growing despite the weather condition. There was an altar, with a red gem floating there. Alex stepped towards it. He held out his sword, and the gem fused itself to his sword!

“Woah!” Said Mark.

“Every time you get a Sacred Stone,” explained Sierra. “It combines with your sword, making it stronger. Once we get all of the stones, you’ll have a fighting chance against the Evil-Seekers.” Suddenly, Sierra’s hair and eyes started glowing blue for a second! Then, it faded back, but they were now glowing a very faint blue!

“What happened?!” Asked Alex.

“I don’t know...” she replied.

“So... what now?” Asked Hoftey. “We head to the next section of this world,” replied Sierra.

“I’ve had enough desert,” Said Alex. “Let’s go!”

He was met with agreement from everyone. A giant pillar of light erupted from the ground, engulfing everyone! They closed their eyes, as everything faded around them...
