This was it.This was the final straw.
After years of fighting, nearly losing his mom, Grover, and Annabeth, losing Bianca, Zoe, Beckandorf, Silena, Jason, and so many others, he finally lost it all.
His home was destroyed, Sally, Paul, and Estelle were found dead, Grover was nearing the Doors of Death, and before him, laid the body of his lover, his fiancée, his Wise Girl, bloodied and lifeless. The monster had already been killed, but at what cost? Then, Percy has a thought,
'Does all this keep happening because of me?' He thinks about it. From his quests as a preteen/young teenager, to the quests to stop Gaia, even his đays of completing recommendation letter quests so he could attend New Rome University.
All of it was because he was born. He just HAD to be born the son of Poseidon. All the monsters came after because he's Poseidon's son, both Kronos and Gaia waged war after he was born because he was the 'prophesied hero of Olympus'.
Even the monster that killed his family came after them because he wanted to be the one who killed the 'Famous Hero of Olympus', Perseus Jackson.
Well he was done being the God's hero. It had done nothing for him, but bring trouble. Any happiness he got, no matter how long it lasted for, was always fleeting.
His mom named him 'Perseus' because that was the only Greek mythological hero who got a happy ending. But the way he was gonna end things wasn't going to be so happy.
He left his CHB shirt with Nico. He wanted the last thing he did to be done as Percy Jackson, son of Sally Jackson, not Perseus Jackson, the famed hero. He left a note for Chiron, thanking him for all he's done for him, a note to Nico, telling him and Will to live many happy years together, notes for Frank and Hazel, wishing them luck in running New Rome, a note for Leo, telling him to hold Calypso close and keep an eye on Piper, Piper's note explaining the same for her and Shel and telling her to keep an eye on Leo, and a note for Clarisse, apologizing that he's gonna miss her and Chris' wedding and that he'll tell Silena she said hi.
Then, on the bed of the Poseidon Cabin, laid Percy Jackson, blue hoodie, blue jeans, limply holding Riptide in his hand, neck slit open. On the nightstand, there was one final note that simply read,
'I didn't want to be a half-blood.'
