Chapter Text
It felt like i was floating in molasses, all my mistakes laid bear in front of me as i looked up into the inky dark desperately looking for stars, then suddenly I was above the cantina staring at the 3 moons on this back water desert planet called Tatooine, floating in the air staring down at Mos Espa, till I suddenly began falling, no being dragged back into my body.
I woke up with my head on the cantina bar, it was dark, low music was playing from a juke box as the Bith band had gone home for the evening, my head felt fuzzy, my vision was blurry and my eyes were swollen from crying. I blinked away the fuzziness and tapped on the bar twice to get the bartender's attention. He was a tall and muscular trandoshan with sand colored scales, he looked at me and set a clear drink in a tall glass next to me with a straw. I took a sip through the straw and cringed, it was water, I wasn’t expecting water.
“I’m cutting you off, you’ve had enough, you’re getting water for the rest of the night till you’re sober enough to walk home.”
I drooped my head and my ears and tail followed “Fair enough, thank you for caring.”
He took another glass from behind the bar and in a swift movement pulled the rag from his shoulder and started cleaning the glass.
I looked around the cantina, most of the rowdy crowd had left when the Bith band did and had gone home or to drink elsewhere, everyone who was left, also looked like they had things they were trying to forget. I made my way to an empty couch and coffee table, plopped myself down with a huff and set my paws on the coffee table and took another drink from the water and closed my eyes and leaned back into the couch.
These days, I've been mostly wandering to random cantinas, desperately trying to find SOMEONE I could connect with on a soul level, usually it was all for nothing, so i would up drinking myself til I either fell asleep, or had my alcohol cut off.
While I was trying to work my way through my murky misery, something, something called out to me, like a color flash in an otherwise pitch black room. It cut like a knife, but was warm. I heard the clinking of spurs against the sandstone floor and then heard the bartender call out.
“Lord Fett! Its so wonderful to have you visit our establishment.”
Fett? I thought to myself, and the color flash cut again at the name, it made my ears twitch. I opened my eyes and peaked over the couch to see Boba Fett, in his black flight suit and green armor with his helmet off stars he has a wonderful face i stared at him, if him or the woman in black and orange with a braided pony tail noticed me, they didn’t make it apparent.
Boba Fett spoke warmly “I know its late, but is Grush in tonight?”
“Nope. He usually goes home when the band does.” The bartender spoke bluntly.
“Ah, shame I missed him, would you have him contact me at his earliest convenience, we have business to discuss.” Boba spoke with a pleasant business voice, clearly hiding severe disappointment.
“I shall let him know,” the trandoshan hissed pleasantly, well as pleasantly as a trandoshan could sound “In the mean, can i offer our great lord a drink on the house?”
“No thank you.” Boba said curtly “I will be back tomorrow morning.”
I stumbled off the couch, and grabbed my water glass, this was my one chance, this color flash, this is clearly what you feel when you find your soulmate. “W-wait! Lord Fett!” I nearly tripped trying to get to him.
“Woah, easy there little one, what can I do for you.” If boba also felt the color flash, he didn’t make it apparent.
“Please, let me at least buy you some water. You walked all the way here…” considering he didn’t arrive on a litter. The woman standing next to him, she gave him this look, not something i could decipher. He looked back at her and gave a slight shrug.
“Very Well. As you wish.”
I offered my paw and he took it gently, as if he was afraid he would break my paw if he put any effort behind taking it into his gloved hand. I led him to the bar and the bartender set down a glass of water in front of him as he took a seat on the stool next to me.
We spent what seemed like an eternity just chatting. I asked him how he became the new ruler of Mos Espa and what his goals were, which are to bring prosperity to Mos Espa and its people and protect it from spice dealers like the Pykes he had waged war against a few months before my arrival here. He quickly pointed out my puffy eyes and asked me why I had been crying, I don’t remember every detail i told him, but i basically said i was at the end of my rope being so far away from home and not knowing ANYONE, how lonely I was, it all just kind of gushed out and i started crying again. He spoke about the loneliness he felt from his father leaving him behind and sympathized with my situation, but also warmly reminded me that i did know someone now, Him. We exchanged transponder numbers and he said to contact him if the lonely feeling ever got heavy like this again and that if he’s able, he’ll pick up, and if not, he will get back to me. He also offered to escort me home, to which I gratefully accepted. We talked more about our trauma’s until i looked up and pointed out how alien the sky was to me, he then began pointing out the different constellations visible and recounting the mythology behind the ones that had it. When we got to my home, I did not want him to leave. But he promised we’d see each other again and patted me on the head before i went inside and flopped onto my couch and fell into a really deep and peaceful sleep.
