Are you there…?
Are we connected…?

Excellent.
Your vessel has already been created.
But, please, tell me what gift you want to give it:
*DETERMINATION
PATIENCE
BRAVERY
INTEGRITY
PERSEVERANCE
KINDNESS
JUSTICE
…
Your choice has been noted.
Your vessel has been…
Discarded.
You cannot choose who you are in this world.
Your
name
is…

“Kris!” Toriel’s voice came, forcibly waking Kris. She then moved towards the curtain and opened it, letting light into the room. “Kris, if you do not wake up, we will be late for school!”
That’s interesting… a voice sounded in Kris’ head.
Normally, Mom says that before opening the curtains, I’m guessing? Kris asked.
That would be correct. the voice replied.
“I will wait outside for you, alright?” Toriel asked. She then left the room. Kris moved their blanket and moved out from under it.
Things are already changing. the voice said.
How so? Kris asked.
When I first… connected to your world, on the first run, and all subsequent runs besides this one, you’d slept in your clothes, and thus got out of bed entirely dressed.
Well, what weirdo would do that?
…Kris, this is coming from the kid who can eat an entire one of Toriel’s Butterscotch-Cinnamon pies in one sitting without gaining any weight.
Exactly. Normally, I do that. I… don’t know what changed here. Kris quickly got changed(brief cut to black for the voice), then joined their mother out in the car.
“Kris! There you are!” Toriel said as Kris got in. “We might still be able to make it!”
I’m just gonna… tune out for this short c-uh, ride. the voice said. We’ll talk shortly.
~~~~~~~
Soon enough(mere minutes later), Toriel parked in her spot at the school, and she and Kris went inside. The pair split off when it would either be Toriel going to Kris’ classroom, or Kris going to Toriel’s, with both going to their respective classrooms, for their separate reasons(Kris to learn, Toriel to teach).
Upon walking into the room, Kris quickly noted the presence of Tem, MK, Snowy, Jockington, Catti and Noelle.
…This is… weird. Worryingly weird… the voice said.
“Oh… K-Kris…!” Alphys said upon noticing them. “We thought you weren’t coming today. We’re doing group projects this month…. uhhhh… so, walk around and find a partner, okay?”
How so? Kris asked.
Berdly is supposed to be here… Well, hey! You don’t have to partner with Susie if Berdly’s not here! Go ask Noelle. Trust me.
Kris did as requested and approached Noelle.
“Oh, hey, Kris! What’s up? Didja lose your pencil again?” Noelle asked, reaching into her pencil bag. “Here, you want the candy-cane one, or the one with lights on it?”
“Actually, I was wondering if you wanted to work together on this project?” Kris asked. Noelle looked shocked, yet… surprisingly happy , in Kris’ opinion.
Oh, my G… uh, Angel. the Voice(Kris had elected it important enough to have this capitalization) said in exasperation.
“Uh… Sure! I’d love to!” Noelle agreed.
…It… still feels weird. Where the hell is Berdly…?
“Hey, uh, Kris?” Noelle asked. “Do you know where Berdly is? It’s… a bit weird, not having him instantly declare himself my partner in this.”
“Yeah, I don’t know,” the Voice said using Kris’ voice. “I was just wondering that myself.” Just then, the door slammed open.
“S-Sorry I’m late!” Berdly said, running into the room. “My alarm didn’t go off, so I slept in, and-”
“I-It’s okay, Berdly,” Alphys said. “We’re doing group projects this month, so… uh, walk around and find a-”
“No, that’s alright, Ms. Alphys!” Berdly said. “Noe-”
“It’s pairs, Berdly, a-and Noelle and K-Kris are a-already working together.”
“Oh, well, surely Noelle actually wants to work with me, right?”
Noelle looked nervously at Kris, who gave her a confident stare. Noelle trusted Kris, and so turned back to Berdly and said, “Uh, actua-”
“See? Come, Noelle. Let’s leave this-”
“Whatever you’re about to call my friend, I’d advise against that, Berdly,” Noelle said, standing up and glaring at the bluebird monster. “Kris asked me first, and actually bothered to ask, so I’ll be working with them.” Realizing she was still in front of the whole class, she quickly blushed and sat back down.
Everyone was staring at her in shock, with the sole exceptions of Kris and the Voice. The Voice had no face with which to stare at her in shock, and Kris merely looked impressed. Kris put a comforting hand on her shoulder and gave her a proud smile, causing her to smile back, though hers was shy. Then, the door slammed open again. This time, it was Susie who walked in.
“Oh, uh, h-hello, S-Susie!” Alphys said, nervous.
“...Am I late?” Susie asked, causing Alphys’ nervousness to expand.
“Oh, uh, n-no! W-We were just choosing partners f-for a g-g-group project… Oh! I-I know! You’ll b-be with B-Berdly!” Susie just nodded, then went to her desk and sat down. Berdly looked absolutely terrified as he, too, sat at his desk. Kris looked calm, though the Voice was anything but.
Oh, no! Alphys sends Susie to get the chalk because she was the last one in, then sends you because you’re her project partner! Berdly’s her partner now!
Alphys went to grab the chalk, only to notice it missing.
“H-Has anyone seen the chalk?” she asked.
Make an effort to look for it, but don’t rat Susie out. Just… keep looking until I tell you to stop.
Kris did as they were instructed.
Stop. Look at Alphys and gently shake your head.
Once again, Kris did as instructed.
“N-No one? Odd. It… i-it should have been right here…” Alphys said.
“Um, I could go get some m-” Noelle started.
“Wonderful idea, Noelle. Any volunteers to go with her?”
Yes! This is our chance! Raise your hand.
Kris raised their hand. They were the only one to do so.
“Very well. Kris, go with Noelle,” Alphys agreed, nodding to the pair. “The rest of you, get with your partners and discuss what you’re going to do for the project. You two, discuss it as you walk, please?”
“We can do that,” Noelle agreed. The two walked out of the room. “Let’s go, Kris. The spare chalk should just be in the supply closet.”
“One second, Noelle,” Kris said, before walking to the water fountain.
“You… you do realize people put their mouths on that, right…?” Noelle asked. Kris moved their hair back, just to emphasize the stare they gave her as they drank from the fountain, drawing a laugh from Noelle. “Should have known you’d just see that as more of a reason to do that…”
You’re a weirdo, Kris. the Voice said.
I’m well aware, Voice. Kris replied.
Oh, the Proper Noun Capitalization! Didn’t realize I was that important to you.
If you’re gonna be in my head, you may as well have proper respect given to you.
“Well, let’s go,” Kris said, walking down the hallway towards the supply closet. The double-door stood imposing—
“Doesn’t the supply closet usually have a single door?” Noelle asked, confused.
“Must’ve been a design change neither of us noticed, since we haven’t exactly been to this side of the school since both classrooms stopped being used,” Kris theorized, before opening the door.
The darkness was so pure, it seemed to seep out into the very hallway, and Kris and Noelle backed up in fear.
“Uh… t-together?” Noelle offered meekly. Kris nodded to her and took her hand. Both of them cautiously stepped into the room.
“We j-just need to find a light switch,” Kris said. “Let’s go.” They both proceeded further into the closet… and just kept going… and going… and going…
“K-Kind of a long closet, huh?” Noelle asked.
“...Screw this,” Kris replied. “Ms. Alphys can find her own damn chalk.” They began walking back to the supply closet door, Noelle following along still holding their hand.
Only for the door to shut just before they reached it, locking. Kris ran forward, dragging Noelle with them, and banged on the door with their free hand.
“Hey! Let us out!” Kris yelled. “Th-This isn’t funny!” Noelle seemed to be having a panic attack, so Kris turned around and sat down, pulling Noelle down, too. They then started comforting her.
Then the floor started to shake.
“...Uh oh,” Kris said.
Then, they and Noelle began to fall. Kris, remembering that humans had more physical bodies than monsters, adjusted them and Noelle so they took the brunt of the fall.
They felt a weird sensation in their SOUL, and could, somehow, tell Noelle felt it, too.
Then, they fell unconscious alongside Noelle.
