Work Text:
You were tired.
It was raining outside that day. You were sitting, your back against the wall of the hotel. The others all rushed inside from the storm for various reasons, like Robot Flower being mechanical and Tennis Ball’s fluff getting all damp and disgusting.
Through it all, they accidentally left you behind in the rain in their haste to get inside.
You sat on the side, looking through the window. Everyone was talking, and you were stuck out in the rain.
You tried banging on the doors, even trying to knock them over, but nothing worked. Two reinforced the doors after all those bugs and that giant green fish barged in a few days ago.
You sighed. What were you going to do? You were stuck in the rain, and it only got worse as it started to turn to snow.
Your own self started to freeze. It was cold. And painful. But in a few seconds it turned numb. You sat down, unable to move anymore. Was this real death? Hypothermia? You didn’t know anymore. Maybe one of your friends will win the challenge for you.
And then the snow stopped snowing on you.
And quite abruptly as well. You couldn’t look up, your face being frozen in place. Well, to be fair, your entire body was frozen.
“You’re outside all by yourself. Why’re you out here?” Someone said with a british-y accent to their voice. Not excessively British, just the right amount.
After taking a minute to thaw out, they leaned down to your height.
“Two?” You asked, a now confused expression. “Why’re you out here?”
They laughed, and looked at you.
“Well, I was counting the contestants and saw one was missing. Figured they were outside, and look at that! I found you!”They say with a smile. “So are you gonna come in or what?”
“Uh… I think I’ll stay out here.” You responded. You didn’t really wanna go back in. Nobody else even noticed you were gone. Two, the literal host had to find out and come get you.
“Well, can I stay with you then?” They asked, but sat down next to you anyway. It’s… uncharacteristically nice of Them. You smiled and nodded.
“Sure. Not like I have much else to do.” You smiled at them. A genuine smile. Pretty rare, considering what’s been going on recently.
They sighed. “Y’know, I’ve been needing someone else to talk to. I think Gaty is getting tired of my ranting. She’s a good therapist and all, but she seems a bit more… tired lately. I don’t think she’s okay. Am I rambling? Sorry.” They looked at you, an expression on their face just as tired as Gaty’s expression nowadays. Being a host is hard, huh?
“Well, I’ve been a bit tired as well. My team doesn’t usually listen to my ideas. I’m just tossed to the side. It’s not fun.” Your expression looked distraught, as you scooted closer to them.
“That does sound like quite the dilemma, Ball.” You chuckled at the nickname, having gotten it from being a ball-like character. But you couldn’t discern what kind of ball you were, for however smart you were.
Which was pretty damn smart, might I add.
“How ‘bout you come inside now?” Two asked, with a smile as they leaned over to look at you. Your own smile fell as you hugged your knees to your chest.
“...I’d rather stay out here. It’s rainy and stuff, but it's better here than with the others. They all are so!...”
“Ignorant of you?” Two finished for you.
“Yes!” You exclaimed as you pointed a finger at them. “That’s the word!”
Two watches you as you start to ramble, making vivid hand motions and a lot of excessive yelling. They swore they could’ve felt the sound barrier breaking from your volume.
“They just never listen!” You finish with your hands on your head as if you’re about to tear out your non-existent hair. “Every single time!”
“That doesn't sound very nice.” Two says in turn, as they look at you once more.
“Damn right, it’s not nice. It’s the worst . Honestly, do they really expect me to just sit around and do nothing? I’m a part of the team for a reason!” You yelled out, before sighing and slumping against the back of the wall you sat against.
“I just wish they would listen…”
Two watched you with an expression of sympathy. They felt your pain, even if they were an Algebralien who could barely process normal emotion half the time. You just made them… Feel something. For you.
That’s interesting.
Two sat there, a bit confused and uncomfortable. They themself, had no idea what to say to all this. It confused them more than they could understand. And they were pretty powerful. So not understanding something that’s clearly ‘beneath them’ is… different to say the least.
But not bad.
You and them sat in comfortable silence, with smiles on your faces like nothing bad was happening. Maybe stuff would be okay.
But this is TPOT. So that never happens.
The wind picked up and everything started to swirl. Faster and faster, and before you knew it, you were flying.
“Help!” You called out. Two used their powers to bring you back down, and teleported the both of you up to their room.
“You okay?” Two asked, not even looking at you as they tried (And failed) at stopping the winds. In fact, it was concerning. The more they used their power, the faster the wind blew. They looked pretty stressed at the moment.
“Get the contestants. This is a tornado!” They yell. You rush off to get the contestants.
As you run in, you notice something strange. Not everyone was there. There were so many objects around it was like a huge social gathering. Just with a lot more fear.
And nobody seemed to even notice who disappeared. Needle and Barf Bag were gone, for one. Elimination, you supposed. But things happen.
Little did everyone know, it was a supernatural phenomenon that went on.
