The Girl Who Was A Storm

Summary:

This is just me putting feelings to paper and attempting to wax poetic.

Work Text:

The wind was subtle as I first looked towards her, but as the sun slipped down towards the horizon and we spoke the day away it grew stronger and stronger. Before I knew it I was surrounded by winds strong enough to cause me to stumble and sway as I kept pace with her longer stride. But no matter how the winds struck me, she was oblivious to my struggles, continuing as if my whole world wasn’t shifting with each word she spoke.

The sun dappled our skin through the towering pines, complimenting the shine in her eyes. The hours slipped past, the moon coming to shine its light on us. But we still spoke as if we could never run out of subjects to discuss and ponder. Even as the bugs came out and stars filled the night we were lost to time, the cold unable to sink into our bones. My heart beat like I had found the sweetest ambrosia, and the aftertaste would forever stick to my tongue.

Even when it came to an end she lingered in my mind, never relinquishing the grasp she had on me. She was a storm that had ravaged my existence, and it seemed the effects her presence had on me would never fade. Any attempt to turn to another left me wanting more than anything they could offer. Acceptance was the easiest route. She would never be mine, and nobody else could ever measure up to even the shadow she left.
