Chapter Text
Izuku was 12 years old when his mother had told him they would be moving.
Inko Midoriya had founded a flower shop, working by herself with the help of her son after her husband left the family. She worked tirelessly on her own with all the duties of running the shop in order to maintain a stable income for her and Izuku.
Of course, Izuku knew how hard she was working, and being the ever so sympathetic child he was, offered to help as much as he could. Granted, he was only a kid, so his main tasks were small jobs like helping her pick flowers and watering or planting them around the shop.
A few years had gone by with her small business, and she was able to expand from her tiny shop to a more spacious 2 story building in Okinawa, the main floor being the shop, and the upper level where she planned to make their living studio.
The main reason of the move was for Inko and Izuku to be able to start fresh in a new place, as their previous apartment in Musutafu only reminded her of the man that left them. She also figured it would be a nice change, where Izuku could make new friends and have a better life.
She had known that her son was facing some difficulties with other kids in school, noticing how often he would come home with a new bruise or scratches, and decided it would be the best for both of them.
This news however, was a confusing surprise to Izuku. He thought that it was great his mother’s business was doing well, but also felt sad that he had to leave his home.
Now thinking more deeply about it, he shouldn’t feel sad, right? His mom worked hard to try and make their lives more comfortable, and she was so excited to expand. He should be thankful too, shouldn’t he? Once they moved, it meant new opportunities for new friends, and maybe he could escape the bullying.
Right.. The bullying. His childhood best friend, now turned bully, Katsuki Bakugo. Of course Izuku still cared for him, even if the other boy had found better people to hang out with and befriend. Even if he had to deal with Katsuki and his new friends bullying him everyday. He still cared deeply for the boy who he once was inseparable from.
There seemed to be no particular reason for them to grow apart, according to their moms. They had just assumed the boys were growing up and finding new people to connect with, and decided to let them be.
Long ago, Izuku wished for their friendship to return to how it used to be. But those hopes faded with time, now as they were now going to enter middle school and he realized that maybe Katsuki really was better off without him in the way. It was time to let old friendships go.
The move helped a lot with that. After Izuku and Inko had settled into their new home in Okinawa the summer after he finished elementary school, he had quickly adjusted to the nice weather and beautiful view of the beach he saw from his new bedroom window.
The shop was nice and spacious, plenty of room for new flowers and plants, and the studio above was larger than their old apartment. It was a comfortable and clean building, so moving was easy for them. Once they finished moving everything to their new home, it felt relaxing to be there now.
Life in the flower shop was sweet, easy, and fun. They had more customers than ever, and Izuku could help out a bit more as he got older. He soon started middle school in Okinawa, making new friends and having a great life in general. Thoughts of his past home and life in Musutafu had all been pushed to the back of his mind, though some childhood memories of Bakugo still lingered occasionally.
He remembered the bright red eyes of his, and the light blonde spiky hair he had. Izuku would take walks on the beach near the shop sometimes, and when dusk arrived, the reds, oranges, and yellows of the sunset blended together behind the ocean, he couldn’t help but think of his old friend.
