"Chaos Means War"
⊰♥⊱
Sonic and Shadow stood in front of the massive G.U.N. briefing screen, their eyes locked on the latest mission report. The hum of high-tech equipment and the rustling of agents working in the background made the air thick with tension. Neither of them could shake off the undercurrent of rivalry between them—a rivalry that had only intensified since Amy Rose had entered their lives. Amy wasn’t just any agent. She worked as an intelligence analyst for G.U.N., one of the brightest minds in the organization. But to Sonic and Shadow, she was something more. Amy had unknowingly become the prize in their silent competition—a competition neither of them could resist. And with every passing day, it seemed like the stakes grew higher.
"Nice of you to join us, Amy," Sonic said with his signature grin, giving her a wink as she walked into the room. "We were just about to start without you, but hey—better late than never."
Amy rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "You two and your egos," she muttered under her breath as she took a seat at the table, scanning through the mission updates on her tablet. She couldn’t help but notice the way Sonic and Shadow always seemed to be trying to one-up each other, even in the most mundane of situations.
Sonic flashed a mischievous smile. "C’mon, Amy, I was just making sure you had time to catch up. Not everyone’s as fast as me, after all."
Shadow, ever the stoic one, shot Sonic a pointed look. "Speed is a crutch, Sonic. It’s all about precision and strategy. Something you wouldn’t understand."
Amy glanced between the two of them. There was an unspoken tension in the air, one that had been brewing for weeks. She sighed inwardly. She was starting to get a little tired of it. They were both great agents, but their constant bickering? Not so much.
"I’m glad you’re both so... passionate about the mission," she said, trying to steer the conversation back to business. "But we’re not here to compete with each other. We’re here to stop a threat. Got it?"
Sonic and Shadow exchanged a glance, neither of them willing to back down. It was clear that the mission at hand wasn’t going to be the only thing on their minds today. But Amy was too focused on the task to entertain their back-and-forth anymore.

Later that night, Sonic and Shadow found themselves in the field, tailing a G.U.N. suspect. Their earpieces buzzed as Amy gave instructions from the control center.
"Sonic, Shadow, I need you to disable the security grid at the same time. Don’t make a scene. And for the love of everything that’s good, try not to break anything."
Sonic smirked, adjusting his goggles as he took off running. "You got it, Amy. You’re gonna love how fast I get this done."
Shadow, in contrast, remained calm and composed. He took his time to analyze the situation, slipping into the shadows with an almost eerie silence. "Speed isn’t everything," he muttered to himself. "It’s about control." As Sonic rushed through the compound, setting off a series of small, controlled explosions to disable security systems, Shadow moved like a shadow, silently hacking into terminals and disabling systems one by one with surgical precision. It was a flawless display of his ability to get the job done, without causing any unnecessary ruckus.
Amy’s voice crackled through their comms. "Sonic, Shadow, I said no explosions. You’re going to give me a heart attack!"
Sonic laughed in response, his voice full of confidence. "Hey, explosions are cool. You love them, admit it."
"I don’t love the collateral damage!" Amy shot back, but there was a smile in her tone. She couldn’t deny that part of her did find Sonic’s reckless charm... endearing.
Meanwhile, Shadow remained focused, his eyes never leaving the terminal as he worked. "While Sonic makes noise, I’ll be the one getting results."
Amy couldn’t help but chuckle to herself. "Classic Sonic and Shadow. Loud and fast versus quiet and precise."

The next day, things escalated. After their mission, Amy invited both agents to dinner—a small thank-you for their work, or so she thought. But when Sonic and Shadow arrived at the same time, both in immaculate, yet slightly too polished outfits, it became clear that something was off. Amy raised an eyebrow as they stood in front of her, both looking strangely smug. "You two... seriously?" she asked, unable to hide her amusement. Sonic grinned, sliding into the chair across from her. "What? You didn’t think I’d take you out to a nice dinner after a job well done? Come on, I’m a hero ."
Shadow, sitting down gracefully, gave Sonic a cold stare. "This isn’t about a ‘nice dinner,’ Sonic. This is about taking a step back and considering what matters. Something you seem incapable of doing." Amy sighed, leaning back in her chair. "Oh, I see. This is that dinner. The one where you both try to outdo each other in an attempt to win my attention."
Sonic’s grin widened. "You’re not exactly wrong, Amy. I mean, I am faster, smarter, and—"
"I get it," Amy interrupted, rolling her eyes. "You’re both amazing . But can we just eat for once, without all the posturing?"

As the night went on, the competition between Sonic and Shadow only grew. Every little thing became a chance for them to prove who was better. From paying for the meal to choosing the right wine, neither agent would let the other get the upper hand. Amy was starting to get frustrated, and yet... a part of her found the whole thing oddly endearing. She had no idea how it had gotten this out of hand, but now, as she sat between them, she couldn’t ignore the fact that the tension was palpable. Both were great in their own right, but it was clear that their rivalry had gotten personal—and not just about the mission.
"Alright, enough," Amy finally said, holding up a hand to stop the inevitable argument that was about to start. "I’ve had enough of this nonsense."
Sonic and Shadow both looked at her in surprise. "What do you mean?" Sonic asked, his grin fading.
Amy took a deep breath. "I mean that I can’t keep doing this. I don’t need to choose between you two. It’s ridiculous." She stood up, looking between them both. "I’m not a prize to be won."
Sonic and Shadow were momentarily stunned into silence. Amy looked back at them, her heart racing. "I’ve been trying to focus on the mission, but this—" she motioned between them—"this is just chaos. I don’t want to be part of it anymore."
She turned and walked away, leaving both agents standing there, dumbfounded. They had spent all this time fighting each other, not realizing that they were losing sight of what really mattered.

The next day, things were different. Amy continued to work with both Sonic and Shadow, but the dynamic had changed. There was still a hint of tension, but it wasn’t the same. They had been forced to confront their own egos, their competitiveness, and most importantly, their feelings for Amy. And as for Amy, she had made a choice—not to choose. Instead, she focused on what mattered most: the mission. But in the back of her mind, she knew something had shifted. The competition might be over—for now—but the story of Sonic, Shadow, and Amy was far from finished.
