Waking up to a message along the lines of “I want to see you! Let’s meet up!” wasn’t exactly unusual for Kohane. Now and then her and An loved to meet up at different places. But today the message was slightly different, yet all the same-
With the addition of “I want to tell you something important”
Now, as anyone would, Kohane felt not only intrigued as to what this ‘something’ could be but scared as well. When it comes to An, this could mean anything. Anything. This could be a simple bit of information from school, something about VBS…
Or it could be something Kohane has wanted to hear her say for so, so long. But of course, that’s just wishful thinking, right?
Still, there’s a part of Kohane that wished it would be that, even if it’s all so unlikely. For months now, years even (since they met really), Kohane knew she had feelings towards An. Starting off small and simple but growing more intense with time. If An weren’t to passionately confess her love in some sort of bold over-the-top Shiraishi themed stunt, that would leave it all up to Kohane. Even though she had become more confident over the years; she still felt rather timid; especially around this subject. She had never been in a relationship, let alone a relationship with someone of the same gender. So, whilst new and exciting, it was also terrifying to her, in a good way though in the kind of way that gives you those good butterflies in your stomach. Yeah, that way.
The place An wanted to meet up this time was different as well. This time, at the meadow. Now, this was something they both discovered together a while ago on a walk, taking in the environment, embracing nature. Kohane could recall exactly how it looked last springtime, beautiful flowers in bloom, fields of luscious green grass. Her favourite memory from that day however was the look in An’s eyes, that shine of excitement and joy, of happiness and wonder. That look… just remembering it made Kohane’s heart race, and for a small pinkish blush to form on and around her nose.
I mean, that wasn’t the only thing about An that made Kohane’s heart race; the only thing that made her blush. Just the thought of An could make her heart race. Everything from her silly little jokes, her laugh, her soft flowing hair. Her overall charming personality as well, oh, and of course the way she would say Kohane’s name. ‘Oh, but she says it just like everyone else’ erm, let a woman dream smh, don’t ruin this for Kohane.
But we are getting a little bit off topic. Main point is, they were almost at the location. Weaving her way through the now overgrown shrubbery, Kohane eventually made their way into an opening, hit by the sun's rays and warmth. The fields and meadow were just as beautiful as she remembered… and so was An (who she hasn’t seen since… yesterday, I know what you are), who was sat on a small blanket in the distance, basket at her side. The sun was shining down on her, as if she wasn't this ray of beauty already, she certainly was now.
(I feel it’s important to mention now, that this An and Kohane are a little… different, than what you anticipate. 🐏🐐 Go my SheepGoat Yuri)
An noticed her partner as they trotted into view. As they made their way over, Kohane carefully made sure not to step on the little flowers dotted around the fields. Simple cute things like that, they made An’s heart race. For you see, Kohane wasn’t the only one inflicted with infatuation, so was An, and dreadfully so. The simple utter of Kohane’s name had begun to make her face flush and her tail to wag (no matter how much she tried to hide it it was always quite obvious… and quite embarrassing at that). As Kohane walked closer, making herself more easily visible, An looked her up and down, as if examining every part of her with a smirk on her face. Every part of Kohane was her favourite part of Kohane, from her little hoofs to her shining hazel eyes, to her curled in horns surrounded by beautiful soft tufts of wool. Today was finally the day. Now was the time to tell her everything.
“Mmehhh!” An spoke enthusiastically to Kohane, patting her hoof onto the clear space of the blanket inviting her to sit down. Kohane of course followed suit, sitting next to the goat and making herself feel comfortable. Feeling the gentle wind in her wool relaxed her a little bit. Besides, what was there to truly worry about. She was with An, someone who she knows wouldn’t upset her and certainly someone who wouldn’t be upset because of the way Kohane feels.
“Baahh?” She questioned. But of course, she had to ask her this. Why were they here today? Sure, it was a lovely summer day, the grass was green, sun shimmering in the sky, gentle breeze, couldn’t be more perfect. So, being here wasn’t exactly usual, but it also was? Because why were they there
“Mmm mehh” She responded abruptly. What does she mean ‘I guess it’s finally time to tell you’. Kohane tilted her head slightly, confused yet intrigued and what An said next? It was exactly what she’s been wanting to hear for such a long time now.
“Mmmehhhh” An harmonised softly to her. Kohane blushed, never had someone been so… so forward with her. These thought to be ‘unrequited’ feelings were VERY much requited, oh my.
“B-baa?!” I mean how else could she respond to something so sudden, so unexpected but so gratefully appreciated and accepted. It was just so, wow, Kohane really was speechless.
“Mmm” An responded “Mehhh~” Kohane couldn’t believe her ears. ‘I want to graze these fields with you for the rest of my life’ how bold, how forward of her. How utterly romantic. Luckily, An couldn’t see her blushing face under all her wool, which she had now tried to cover up her face with. At this rate if she got any hotter, she would be cooked medium rare.
Moving the wool away from her face, An gazed into Kohane’s eyes lovingly, lost in the hazel hues, how they shone like honeycomb in the light of the sun. Now you see, Sheep and Goats can't exactly kiss (and I'm not going to sit here for hours drawing and tilting their heads so i can try and figure our how Goats and Sheep could kiss. I'm devoted to the bit, but not THAT devoted), so An did the next best thing and nuzzled her nose against Kohane’s. In return, Kohane; though very much taken back by the sudden gesture; took her by the hoof (hand) and moved closer to An.
” Bahh… baaa” She spoke once she eventually calmed herself down from the kiss. They just had to let An know that they have ‘felt this way for so long now’ that they were ‘scared of what she would think’. An looked at her, tilting her head, ears flopping to the side. She was… confused, but also very understanding. Typical anxious Kohane, but hey? An loved her. The cute and shy her, the strong and confident her, even the scared and anxious her.
She was her sheep, her one and only sheep (ONE SHEEP???? Hitsuji ga Ippiki mentioned???? mijime sa naraba jiko besuto kikoenai furi de ZZZ... sukeepugooto, konna mono shitta koccha nai hitorizumou)
” Mmehh, Mehh” An responded to her. Not dismissing her anxieties but instead listening to them, reassuring her that her sheepishness (heh) was valid. Reaching into the basket, An pulled out a bouquet of flowers. A mix of different types, red rose… uh, yellow roses, a sunflower, a tulip perhaps? Regardless, bunch of flowers, wrapped neatly in a little bow. Each of them picked out carefully for Kohane, some of her most favourite flowers. “Mmehh, meh” An spoke again, something along the lines of ‘I, I remembered you liked these flowers. You pointed them out to me one time when we were together’
Kohane couldn’t believe her eyes… her favourite flavour of flowers, all wrapped up in a neat little bow. Picked especially for her, by her. Y’know what, it was silly for her to ever be anxious at all over this. This is An Shiraishi we are talking about here, the Goat who just bought her these flowers, who planned this encounter. Taking one of the flowers out of the bouquet, satisfyingly biting into it, Kohane knew things were going to be okay. Different sure, but okay. A Sheep and Goat, together, in a world of people stuck in that herd mentality, it was going to be tricky-
But for Kohane? There's no one else in this whole world she would rather spend the rest of her days with, grazing these green fields. At her side… always.
