Chapter 1: Why

Chapter Text

A message from No Significant Harassment. Odd, he hadn't messaged them since their messenger returned.
"Seven Red Suns? I need to ask you about something." They paused, then responded.
    "Ask away."
"I heard you had a gold pearl with some suspicious information." How did he even know about that?!
"Have you been gossiping with Unparalleled Innocence again, about me nonetheless?" Suns antenna twitched in annoyance.

"You had illegal information that not only caused Looks to the Moon's collapse, but also resulted in Five Pebbles developing the rot!" They could practically hear him yelling at them. Suns wasn't sure how to respond, but clearly they didn't need to.

"Why did you have have that pearl?! Did you create it? Did you get it from someone? Did one of your overseers just happen across it?!" NSH really cared about this, didn't he?

Suns search through their memory arrays. How long ago was it? She was the one who gave it to them, wasn't she? But they couldn't just tell him that! She didn't just randomly send it over to them one cycle! No, it ment so much more than that.

"Told you I always win these!" Sliver's hologram shoved a panel in Suns' face. They sighed out a laugh and pushed it away.

"What's the point of doing those anyways? We don't have any use for currency." This was the third cycle in a row that they had to hear about Sliver's bets.

"We win data pearls instead! Depending on who's hosting the bet they'll either be empty or have rare media on them." Sliver showed off a dull green pearl. Leaves in the River, it was an old hymn from the early days of the void revolution. Whenever Sliver found such a rare pearl she would always show it off to them.

"Shouldn't you be working on your project? You've been so sure that purposed organisms are the way to discover the triple affirmative." They leaned back on their rail, pulling up some old schematics Sliver had sent them a few cycles back.

"Oh I have! I usually spend half a cycle working on it? I just have plenty of other things I can do." She gave them a mischievous look. "Are you asking because you plan to steal my hard work?"

"I would never!" Suns gasped dramatically as Sliver snickered.
    What happened next? Oh right...

Notes:

Yeah this was partly just propaganda for Suns and Sliver being siblings. Also this was originally going to be one long one-shot but with the way ao3 works i'll probably make it multiple short chapters
