Thanos—also known as Choi Su-bong, though he preferred his self-given nickname—had been begging his father, Hwang In-ho, to take him to a Kendrick Lamar concert. It had been years since Su-bong started listening to Kendrick’s music, been admiring the dude since at his lowest, like when he first had the blade in his wrist. Anyways..when he found out the rapper was coming to their city, he had pleaded, bargained, and even threatened to do all his chores for a year if In-ho took him. Eventually, his father caved.
As they pulled up to the concert venue in In-ho’s sleek, black luxury car ( rich ass ), Su-bong could hardly contain his excitement. The moment the car stopped, he practically jumped out of the car, making a beeline for the entrance.
“Su-bong! Wait!” In-ho called after him, using his real name because, quite frankly, he still thought “Thanos” was a weird choice. Su-bong turned briefly to shoot his dad a sheepish grin before disappearing into the sea of fans, and it left no choice for inho but to chase after him, leaving him breathless once he caught up to his son.
Inside, the venue was electrified with anticipation. Thousands—maybe millions—of fans were already on their feet, jumping and screaming before Kendrick even stepped on stage. Su-bong was no exception, bouncing with uncontainable energy. They had front-row tickets, something In-ho had pulled strings to get, and Su-bong had never been happier. He rapped along to every song, cheered until his voice cracked, and let the music consume him in a way that only a true fan could.
After the concert, they made their way to the VIP meet-and-greet area. Su-bong held his DAMN album vinyl tightly, his hands shaking as they approached the front of the line. When it was finally their turn, he handed Kendrick a golden-colored sharpie, eyes wide with admiration. The rapper, cool and collected, signed the vinyl and then posed for a photo with Su-bong, who tried to play it cool but failed miserably.
As they pulled away from the embrace, In-ho leaned in closer to Kendrick, whispering, “You know, my son has a crush on you.”, pulling back with a chuckle. He has learned a few words of English from Thanos, and took advantage to say THAT.
Su-bong’s eyes widened in horror. “Dad, stop!” he said in English, his face burning with embarrassment.
But Kendrick, ever the chill icon, just chuckled and gave Su-bong a warm, genuine smile. “No need to be embarrassed,” he said smoothly. “I like your nails, man. And the purple hair, are you suppose to be that marvel character, Thanos?" Kendrick asked, complimenting him too. Thanos couldn't believe this, "Yes, that's right!" He responded back, managing to not stutter once. "That's fire, man! Ay, I'm glad you two came here. Here," he hands back the vinyl to thanos, "make sure you both take care of yourselves! It was nice having you two here!" And flashes THAT sweet, genuine smile again. ( HIS SMILE IS SO CUTE AHH )
Su-bong blinked. His heart stuttered a little. Maybe—just maybe—his dad’s mortifying attempt at matchmaking wasn’t the worst thing in the world. "Y-You too!" He said, Inho smirks, staring at the signed vinyl his son had in his hands. "Well, he's not bad after all. You should thank me for that." And thanos just rolled his eyes at him.
As they left the venue, Su-bong grumbled, “You totally humiliated me.”
In-ho just shrugged, smirking. “I was trying to help you out.”
Su-bong crossed his arms, still pouting—but he couldn’t help the small smile tugging at his lips. Maybe his dad wasn’t all that bad after all.
