Blazing Kisses

Summary:

With Pin and Leafy spending the day together, Firey and Coiny find themselves bored and must find a way to entertain themselves without the girls… What will they do? Challenge each other to a kiss war of course!

Work Text:

After the competition days were over, Firey, Leafy, Pin, and Coiny all moved into a house together. Firey and Leafy were dating, and so were Pin and Coiny—but there was also the whole… thing between Leafy and Pin. They weren’t exactly dating, but they kissed, went on little dates, and had an undeniable connection that sometimes left Firey and Coiny feeling a little jealous. Not that they’d ever admit it.

Most of the time, everything worked out just fine. But on days like today? It sucked.

The girls were heading out for the day, leaving Firey and Coiny to fend for themselves. Which meant absolute disaster was imminent.

“Nooo, but I don’t wanna stay here with Coiny!” Firey whined dramatically as Leafy and Pin reached the door. He crossed his arms, shooting an irritated look at Coiny. Stupid Coiny…

“Don’t be such a baby,” Pin snapped.

“It’ll only be a few hours, Firey! I’m sure you two will find something to do,” Leafy added, ever the optimist. Her usual cheerful smile… it was sweet, eased Firey up a bit, still mad though.

Coiny laughed, shoving Firey aside. “Pssh, it’s fine. Firey’s just being a whiny baby as per usual.”

“Behave yourselves,” Pin warned, fixing both of them with a sharp glare. They knew exactly what she was talking about. The last time she and Leafy went out, Firey and Coiny had gotten into a wrestling match that resulted in two broken vases, a flipped couch, and somehow, a hole in the wall. This time, all glass objects had been put safely out of reach, and Pin had written up a strict set of rules for them to follow.

Now that the girls were gone, Coiny was holding the list, scanning it over with mild annoyance.

“‘No slapping.’ Oh, this feels targeted.” He threw his hands up, looking genuinely offended.

“That’s because it is,” Firey said flatly. “Here, gimme that.” He snatched the paper from Coiny’s hands and started reading. “What?! ‘Firey, do not touch my chocolate’—Pssh! I’ll do what I want! She can’t tell me what to do!”

Coiny yanked the list back. “Let’s see… ‘No trashing the house, clean up any mess you make…’ Pfft, come on. Like we don’t always do that.” He snickered.

Firey rolled his eyes. “Who needs rules? We make our own rules.”

And with that, he held the list over his blazing head.

“Hey!! Pin worked hard on that!” Coiny yelped, reaching for it. Then, before he could think, his instincts kicked in— slap!

Firey jerked back with a startled noise, losing his grip on the paper. It fluttered into the flames and instantly turned to ash.

They both froze.

“Uh…” Firey glanced at the pile of ashes on the floor. “Oops.”

Coiny stared at him for a second—then, with no hesitation, he slapped Firey again.

Firey immediately slapped him back. And just like that, it was on.

For the next thirty seconds, the living room was filled with the sound of aggressive slapping as the two went back and forth, neither willing to back down. This was exactly why Pin had made that rule in the first place! and the day had just started.

The slapping battle continued until both of their arms grew weak. Their once-forceful blows turned into pathetic, half-hearted slaps that barely even made a sound. They were both huffing and puffing, out of breath from their ridiculous war. Firey, too exhausted to hold himself up anymore, flopped against Coiny, leaning into him and pushing him slightly with his weight.

“Ugh—get off me!” Coiny grumbled, shoving Firey away.

Firey let himself be pushed, flopping dramatically onto the couch like a ragdoll.

“Come on…” Coiny sighed, rubbing his sore arms. “We should at least try to follow Pin’s rules. Maybe if we actually keep the house clean for once, they’ll bring us back a treat.”

He walked off toward the kitchen and grabbed a broom and dustpan to sweep up the ashes from their now-destroyed rule list.

Firey crossed his arms, pouting like a spoiled kid. “What rules? I don’t see any rules!” He gestured dramatically at the empty space where the paper used to be.

Coiny gave him a tired look. “There are spoken rules too, genius. We’ve heard Pin say them, like, a thousand times. We just never listen—usually your fault, by the way.” He dumped the ashes into the trash and put the dustpan away.

Firey scoffed. “Not my fault your girlfriend is so bossy! It’s not even that big of a deal! She just complains and complains—”

Coiny’s head snapped toward him. Firey knew he hated when he talked about Pin like that. But whatever! Firey was mad! Pin was making them do things he didn’t wanna do, so why shouldn’t he complain?

Coiny narrowed his eyes. “Those rules wouldn’t even exist if you didn’t act like a spoiled toddler. She’s just trying to stop us from turning the house into a disaster zone.”

With that, Coiny plopped down onto the couch, kicking his feet up. Like most of the furniture in the house, the couch had a fireproof cover—because if it didn’t, they wouldn’t have a couch anymore.

Firey let out an exaggerated huff flopping onto his back so his head was looking up at Coiny and his legs were dangling over the armrest. “You’re no fun. I miss Gelatin! He didn’t care if we made a mess or got in trouble! He just wanted to have fun!”

Firey shot a glare at Coiny. He used to be fun! But now he was all… responsible! Focused! No more getting into trouble, no more dumb shenanigans! Maybe he just grew up while Firey stayed the same.

Coiny turned his head down and gave Firey a flat look. “What? You’re saying I’m no fun?”

Firey smirked. “Yeah, duh.”

Coiny sat up straighter, clearly offended. “I am a lot of fun, actually.”

“Pssh, prove it!” Firey sat up and leaned in a little, challenging him.

Coiny never backed down from a challenge. “Fine! What did you and Gelatin do for fun, then? I can double that fun.”

Firey grinned cockily. “Ohhh, I dunno…” He teased, dragging it out. “One time, Gelatin and I stole a van!”

Coiny blinked. “...Where the heck are we getting a van from?” His face was blank, completely unimpressed.

Firey waved his hands. “Well, I dunno! It was easier back then!”

“You’re seriously telling me stealing something is your idea of fun?”

“Ugh!” Firey groaned, throwing his head back. “Just think of something cool to do!! I’m already booooored!”

Coiny crossed his arms, gears turning in his head. If Firey wanted chaos, fine. He’d show him just how fun he could be.

“Well, what else did you and Gelatin get up to, then? I can match it.” Coiny smirked, crossing his arms with confidence.

Firey shifted, leaning against the couch arm, his expression turning mischievous. There was something he and Gelatin used to do… but would Coiny actually agree to it? If Firey teased him enough, maybe. His smirk widened as his cheeks took on a bright blue hue, a sign of excitement bubbling beneath his flames.

He pushed himself onto his knees and scooted closer to Coiny, his voice lowering into a playful lilt. “Well… Gelatin and I used to play a game.”

Coiny raised an eyebrow. “Uh-huh. And?”

Firey’s smirk grew. “We’d see who could kiss each other the longest before chickening out.”

Coiny’s brain short-circuited.

“W-What?” He let out a stiff, awkward laugh. “You’re kidding, right?”

But Firey wasn’t kidding. He looked dead serious.

“Oh my mint… you’re not kidding—” Coiny shook his head rapidly. “No! Absolutely not! I’m not kissing you!” He scoffed, crossing his arms so tightly it looked like he was trying to barricade himself.

Firey’s grin turned sly. “Why? You chicken?” His voice took on a singsong lilt. “Afraid you’re gonna looooseee?”

Coiny glared at him. “No! Because I have a girlfriend!” he snapped, trying to ignore the urge to slap the smug look off Firey’s face.

Firey just rolled his eyes. “A girlfriend who kisses my girlfriend for fun. Come on, it’s just a game! Don’t be such a baby!” He nudged Coiny’s arm, laughing.

Coiny was still processing. Firey actually wanted to play a kissing game?! He always knew Firey was weird, but this was a new level. And—wait. Firey had kissed other people besides Leafy? What else had this guy been up to?!

“So, let me get this straight,” Coiny said, exasperated. “For fun, you and Gelatin either stole things… or kissed each other until one of you backed out?”

“Yup!” Firey grinned proudly.

Coiny let out a dry laugh “This is so weird.”

Firey leaned in slightly, his smirk turning into something more teasing. “What’s the big deal? You scared you’ll lose?”

“What?! No!” Coiny shot back immediately. His competitive instincts flared up like second nature. “I never back down from a challenge.” His eyes locked onto Firey’s in defiance.

“Then what are you waiting for?” Firey purred, tilting his head slightly.

Coiny hesitated. This was weird. Right? He and Firey had been frenemies for years. Why would they be kissing of all things? Has he always wanted to do this? No, no, he was thinking too hard. This wasn’t that deep—it was just a dumb game, right?

“…Fine.” Coiny sighed, rubbing the back of his head. “How do we even play?”

Firey beamed, his flames sparking with excitement. “It’s easy! We just kiss… until one of us backs out!”

Coiny narrowed his eyes. “And there are no rules?”

“Nope! No rules.” Firey confirmed with a gleeful nod.

Coiny took a deep breath. He couldn’t believe he was agreeing to this. But if Firey wanted to challenge him, fine. There was no way he was backing down now.

“Alright, fine. You’re on.” He huffed. “When do we start?”

Firey leaned in, his hands pressing firmly against Coiny’s face, palms warm against the cool metal. He was up on his knees, hovering over Coiny, practically caging him in. A sly, teasing whisper escaped his lips—

“Now…”

And then, without hesitation, he closed the space between them.

Firey’s lips met Coiny’s in a slow, deliberate kiss, his flames crackling softly as the heat radiated between them. Coiny’s eyes squeezed shut tight. Firey was hot— literally. His warmth was almost overwhelming, practically stinging against Coiny’s metal surface, but he clenched his jaw and held firm. This was a challenge. There was no way he was backing out first.

Coiny’s mind raced. Had Firey always kissed like this? Or was this just another game to him? He thought back to what Firey said about doing this with Gelatin years ago. Maybe back in the BFDIA days, Firey had to eat a Yoyle Berry just to keep the flames at bay… there was no way he would’ve been able to kiss Gelatin without melting him, lucky for Coiny that wasn’t a problem.

Gritting his teeth, Coiny slid his arms around Firey’s back, gripping onto him to level the playing field. Not so fast, he thought. If Firey was going to use this as an advantage, Coiny wasn’t about to just let it slide. With a firm tug, he pulled Firey closer, shifting their positions so Firey wasn’t just towering over him anymore. If Firey wanted to pin him down against the armrest, then fine—but Coiny wasn’t going to make it easy for him.

Firey responded swiftly, adjusting to Coiny’s movements. He wasn’t one to sit back and let someone else take control. His kisses were quick and sharp, testing Coiny’s limits, but Coiny wasn’t going to lose that easily. He fought back with his own, matching Firey’s rhythm, neither one of them willing to let the other win.

Then Coiny remembered something.

No rules.

Firey had said it himself.

Which meant… anything was on the table.

A smirk curled against Coiny’s lips mid-kiss. Oh, if that’s how they were playing it… then Firey had no idea what was coming.

Coiny's hand traced down Firey's back, his touch tender. Taking advantage of Firey's gasp, Coiny gently bit his bottom lip before sliding his tongue into his mouth, igniting an intimate battle. Coiny's tongue danced and explored, swirling against the back of Firey's throat. The kiss deepened.

Firey let out a shaky whimper, completely caught off guard. He wasn’t expecting this. Coiny wasn’t just playing along—he was fighting for the win. And hard.

Back when Firey played this game with Gelatin, it was always simple. A few lighthearted kisses, soft and teasing, until one of them got bored and pulled away. It was never this intense. Never this… determined. This was something else entirely.

Coiny was relentless, pushing into each kiss like he had something to prove, like there was no way in hell he was going to lose. And Firey? He wasn’t about to back down either. Not when it actually felt this good. His body trembled slightly, flames flickering wildly as tiny embers crackled and drifted onto the fireproof carpet. His breath hitched, his eyes twitching at the sheer boldness of Coiny’s approach.

How the hell is he so good at this?

Despite being the one pinned down, Coiny was completely holding his own, matching Firey’s every move— no, surpassing him! —like this was second nature to him. Firey clenched his fists, fingers curling slightly against Coiny’s cheek. He had to step up his game. There was no way he was losing.

So he pressed in harder, his kisses growing hotter, deeper, his breath rolling against Coiny’s lips like a smoldering flame. His body burned with a mix of frustration and exhilaration, a strange thrill that made his whole form shudder.  Fine. If Coiny wanted a challenge, Firey would give him one. There were no rules, after all.

Firey's touch roamed down Coiny's thigh, creating an unexpected shiver that sent waves of pleasure coursing through him. Coiny was taken aback, his surprise evident even as their lips remained locked in this embrace. He couldn't resist the sensation, but he knew he had to take control. Was this even allowed? Well Firey said no rules… With a quick maneuver, Coiny suddenly shoved Firey off him, flipping their positions in one swift motion. Before Firey could react, he was the one pinned against the opposite side of the couch, Coiny now on top, pressing him firmly into the cushions.

Their kiss only grew deeper, more intense, their bodies pressing together in a clash of heat and determination. Firey’s flames flared wildly, licking at the air, but Coiny didn’t budge—if anything, he only pushed in harder, meeting Firey’s challenge head-on.

Coiny tightened his grip around Firey’s wrists, pinning them firmly against the couch so he couldn’t move. Firey squirmed beneath him, but Coiny held him steady, refusing to give an inch. His lips crashed into Firey’s, deep and relentless, as he poured everything into the kiss, his legs wrapped securely around Firey’s body to keep him in place.

Firey’s flames flickered wildly, his body trembling beneath the intensity of it all. He hadn’t expected this. This was supposed to be a simple challenge—a dumb, playful game to kill time. But now? Now he was breathless, his strength fading as Coiny overwhelmed him completely. His chest rose and fell in uneven pants, small, needy grumbles slipping from his mouth as he struggled to keep up.

His eyelids fluttered, barely able to stay shut, his body twitching with exhaustion. He tugged weakly at his trapped hands, but Coiny’s grip was ironclad. He wasn’t getting out of this.

Firey clenched his jaw. Did he really want to lose now? After everything? He’d made it this far—if he gave up now, he’d never hear the end of it. But at the same time… he wasn’t sure how much longer he could last. His whole body felt like it was overheating—not from his flames, but from this. From Coiny.

This was getting to be way more than he’d ever intended.

Maybe… maybe Coiny was taking it too seriously.

Firey’s flames flared wildly, spiraling out of control as his body burned hotter than ever. Before he could even react, Coiny was engulfed in the blaze.

"AAAAAAGH!!" Coiny let out a screech, flailing as the fire spread over his golden body. Sure, he was metal, but being on fire still hurt! He yelped and immediately pushed off of Firey, rolling onto the floor in a desperate attempt to smother the flames.

Firey’s stomach dropped in sheer panic. Oh no. Oh no no no.

The game, the challenge—it all vanished from his mind in an instant. Who cared who won or lost? Who cared about bragging rights? Coiny was on fire, because of him! Guilt surged through Firey as he scrambled into action.

Without thinking, he grabbed a fire blanket from the emergency stash they always kept nearby—because, well… Firey.

"Hold still! Hold still!!" Firey shouted, wrapping the thick blanket tightly around Coiny and pressing down, smothering the flames. Coiny grunted beneath him, his body still twitching as the fire fought against the material before finally dying down.

A heavy silence filled the room as Firey hesitated, carefully peeling the blanket away to check on him.

Coiny sat up weakly, coughing up a cloud of smoke. His once-polished gold body was now streaked with black scorch marks, small patches of burnt metal covering his arms and chest. He looked rough, but he was alive. This is why Firey should’ve eaten a Yoyle Berry! They actually ordered a whole box online! But Firey didn’t think it would be that bad… that he could contain his fire better than that! But something about Coiny… it sparked something in him, and sparked him literally too.

Firey swallowed hard, his guilt twisting in his chest. "I… I’m so sorry, Coiny…" He fidgeted, staring down at the floor. His flames had dimmed, flickering softly as he tried to reign them in. "I got carried away."

Coiny took a shaky breath before exhaling with a small laugh. "Heh… yeah, well… I think I got carried away more." He coughed again, barely managing to sit upright before groaning and flopping back onto the floor, his body aching all over.

Firey sighed and dropped beside him, sprawled out on his back as they both lay there, staring up at the ceiling in exhausted silence.

A moment passed before Coiny chuckled. "So… who won?"

Firey turned his head, blinking at him in disbelief. "You still care about that? Even after… all that?"

Coiny smirked despite himself. "Of course I do. I take my challenges seriously."

Firey shook his head, letting out a small laugh. "I think you were still kissing me even while you were on fire."

"What can I say? I’m competitive." Coiny shot him a tired grin, his usual confidence barely dimmed.

Firey hesitated, his cheeks tinging a soft blue before he smirked back. "Well… we can always do a rematch sometime… heheh."

Coiny raised a brow, a playful glint in his eye. "Oh yeah?"

"Yeah…" Firey bit his lip before adding with a teasing grin, "Maybe with a yoyle berry next time."

Coiny laughed, shaking his head. "Sure, sounds fun."
