Work Text:

as the golden sun began to set over arcadia bay, max and chloe were chilling in chloe's room. music was playing from the cd player, and the punk was smoking a joint, as per usual. she had offered max a hit many times, but to no avail.. "you don't even wanna try ONE hit? it won't hurt that much, y'know." chloe said, her tone showing that she had obviously been smoking a lot.

"dude, how many times do i have to tell you no?" max said, her tone showing a bit of annoyance. she wasn't fond of when chloe would smoke, especially in huge amounts. then, max would notice the setting sun and the way it's light shone through chloe's window, "chloe?"

the baked and unusually calm punk would turn to look at max, "yeah???"

max would stand up, looking out the window, "we should go sit on your roof and watch the sunset." she suggested, a slight smile on her face. the photographer had always loved sunsets, and she thought it was a great idea to watch one with chloe.

chloe grinned, "fucck yess! you are full of great ideas, mad-max." the punk explained, standing up from the bed and patting max's shoulder, "great, great ideas." she repeated in a calm manner.

max chuckled at chloe's calm demeanor, the weed must have made her that way. she would slip out of chloe's grasp from her shoulder and climb on top of the cluttered desk to open the window. max would motion to chloe to get a move on, which she did... slowly.

once both of the girls were sat on the roof, they sat in comfortable silence, enjoying each other's presence and the music playing faintly from the messy room. the punk glanced at the photographer in the setting sunlight, then fully started staring at her subconsciously.

max noticed chloe staring at her, "what are you doing, weirdo?" she said, giggling slightly.

chloe raised her eyebrows, "lookin' at ya, your face just looks.. different, in this lighting." she admitted, scratching her neck a bit.

the photographer would smile softly, "that's cute, chloe."

the blue-haired punk would smile and wrap her arm around the photographer, "glad ya think so, max."

max chuckled, melting into chloe's arm. she would then turn to keep watching the sunset, occasionally smelling the punk's smoke-filled scent. even though she was still getting used to that, she knew that the smell was just a part of who chloe was now, and she was learning to like it.

the two girls sat for a while watching the sunset and enjoying the company of one another. eventually, after the sun had long set, they stayed lying on the roof to star-gaze. it was endearing and sweet to chloe the most, though, because she ending up just listening to max talk about stars and constellations, which she liked. her high eventually wore off, so she was able to enjoy her time with max without the feeling of being baked.

chloe only knew what one constellation looked like, which was the big dipper. that fact made max laugh, but the punk didn't mind that joyful laughter one bit.
