“Ceci” Gigi said while twisting and turning.
“Hm?” Cecilia groaned, she started to move slowly, eyelids too heavy to open.
“I can’t fall asleep, can you sing me a lullaby?”
Cecilia blinked a few times, her mind sluggish as she processed Gigi’s unusual request.
After a moment, she sighed softly. “I guess.. Sure, but don’t expect anything too fancy.”
In the dark, Gigi’s voice came softly, a quiet sense of happiness in it. “Okay.”
Cecilia slowly pushed herself up, her voice still drowsy. “Hang on though, I need to use the bathroom”
After a brief pause, Cecilia returned, settling back into bed. She shifted slightly,
pulling the covers up to her chin, and took a deep breath, letting the stillness of the room wash over her.
Gigi shifted closer, curling up under the blanket, her face content as she closed her eyes.
Cecilia hesitated for a moment, the quiet of the room surrounding them both. Then, she softly began..
When you feel so tired, but you can’t sleep
Stuck in reverse
And the tears come streaming down your face
She sang the lullaby in a soft, gentle voice, her words floating through the stillness of the room. By the time she finished, the room was enveloped in calm silence. Gigi, eyes closed, seemed to be in a peaceful trance, her breathing even and steady. Cecilia paused for a moment, listening to the quiet before she softly continued..
When you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you..
Cecilia took a breath, her voice so faint as she looked at Gigi’s still form. “Sleep well, Gigi.”
