Warmth in the Little Things

Summary:

Living together post-university. 5 times Muenfah made Teerak’s life easier, and 1 time Teerak did the same for him.

Work Text:

1. The Matching Keychains

They had just moved into their new apartment just over two weeks ago when Teerak came home holding something behind his back.
“Guess what I got us!” he smiled, bouncing on his toes.
Muenfah glanced up from the counter in the kitchen. “Another houseplant?”
"No!" Teerak showed two keychains that matched, one in the shape of a little moon and the other a sun.

“You’re the moon, obviously,” Teerak said, handing it to him. “You’re calm and quiet and you orbit around my chaos.”
“And you’re the sun?”
“Of course,” Teerak smiled. "Blinding. Unpredictable. A little hot.”
With a laugh, Muenfah grabbed the keychain and quickly fastened it to his keys. “You’re not just a little hot.”
Teerak flushed, flustered and beaming. "All right, you're flirting now."
“I’m always flirting. You’re just usually too busy talking to notice.”

2. The Wardrobe Rescue

It was one of those mornings where Teerak couldn’t find anything to wear.
"This shirt has too many creases. That one makes my arms look weird. This one is too cold, this one is too warm, and ugh!"
Muenfah quietly entered the room from the doorway, passed the mess of clothes on the bed, and took a cosy white button-down shirt with a cardigan from the drying rack.
"This," he stated simply. “And you look good in everything.”
Teerak blinked. "You think so?"
With Muenfah already helping him in put on the sleeves, he said, "I know so."

Teerak huffed, his cheeks flushed, "You're so efficient." "You fixed me in thirty seconds after I stood here for twenty minutes."
With a slight smile, Muenfah smoothed a crease over his shoulder and replied, "That's because I know what makes you feel confident."
Teerak stepped forward and hugged him tight. “I’m never letting you go.”
Muenfah wrapped his arms around him. “You better not.”

3. Surprise Snack Missions

At 3 PM on a Thursday, Teerak texted:
Rak: I'm going to die. I forgot lunch. My stomach is trying to eat itself.

Fifteen minutes later, Muenfah strolled into his office building with a bag of Teerak’s favorite baked goods, a smoothie, and a raised brow.

“You skipped lunch again?”
Teerak blinked, eyes shining. “You came all the way here?”
“You’re lucky I love you more than you love wasting away.”

Teerak giggled as he took the bag. “You’re my favorite knight in shining armor.”
Muenfah leaned forward his face close. "I won't let you go hungry under my supervision."

4. Built-In Blanket

The day had been exhausting. Teerak was curled on the couch, wrapped in a hoodie that was too big (Muenfah’s, of course), blinking sleepily at the TV but not really watching.

Muenfah grinned as he came from the shower with a towel wrapped around his shoulders.
“Come here,” he said.
"Huh?"

Muenfah lay down first, opening his arms, rather than sitting beside him.
Teerak immediately moved over and cuddled up on top of him as if it were his home.
"Better?" Muenfah asked, adjusting the blanket around them both.

“Best,” Teerak mumbled against his chest. “You make the whole world quiet.”
Muenfah rested his chin on his head. “Then I’ll stay right here.”

5. The Post-Rain Reassurance

Teerak had been caught in the downpour following a strong thunderstorm. He looked more like a kicked puppy than normal when he returned home, damp and clearly trembling, holding his soaked sweatshirt.

Muenfah quickly ushered him to the bathroom.
He took the sweatshirt, ran a bath for him, set warm clothes out, and made hot cocoa while Teerak bathed.
When Teerak padded out in the clean clothes, hair towel-dried and hands cupped around the cocoa, he finally whispered, “Thank you…”

He was nestled into the couch when Muenfah walked over and planted a kiss on his forehead.
He said softly, "You don't have to be okay all the time." “Let me be your safe place too.”

+1. When the Sunshine Shines for Him

Muenfah had a difficult project deadline one weekend. He barely looked up from his laptop for hours.

The living room had changed by the time he left the study, Teerak was standing in the kitchen wearing an apron, fairy lights were hung across the shelves, and gentle music was playing.
Teerak smiled and said, "You need to recharge. I prepared dinner. and dessert.

“You did all this?” Muenfah asked, heart tugging.
Teerak gave a nod. "You look after me all the time. So let me do it today.”

After crossing the room, Muenfah put his arms around Teerak and buried his face in the crook of his neck.
“You’re my sunshine,” he whispered. “But days like this, I think I’m the lucky one.”
