Chapter Text
…
The AU was slowly disappearing. Glitches started forming as screaming inhabitants ran from snaking tentacles and swiping knives. Piles of dust littered the ground and the metallic tang of blood filled the air. Skulls formed in the air, blasting at innocent civilians as they tried to dodge imminent death.
In the middle of the chaos, two fox ears peeked out from a broken piece of rubble. A tiny child peered out, watching fearfully at the chaos happening around her. A pile of dust laid next to her and a bloodied body was half covered by another piece of rubble. The child’s silent sobs were never heard, as she knew why this was happening.
It was because of her.
They were after her.
All because of the ears on her head. The bushy tail that flicks behind her. The mismatched soul that's half human, half monster.
All because of her power. Her SOUL.
Suddenly the screams cut off, followed by an eerie silence. She frowned.
Are they gone?
A skeletal hand grabbed her shoulder.
A chilling voice rang out “well look what we have here.” The hand twirled her around.
Her tail bristled as she looked straight at the hooded figure. Two eyes glowed underneath one red and one blue that studied her.
The skeleton turned to look behind him “boss, do i kill them?”
Without a moment's hesitation, she bolted, hoping to put as much distance between the skeleton and ‘boss’.
Which was pointless.
Her skin glowed blue as her body was forcefully pulled back towards the skeleton. She struggled against the magical force that was pulling her but it was to no avail.
The skeleton chuckled before twirling her around “feisty, are we?”
She gazed fearfully at him as two other skeletons approached them.
One skeleton was carrying a giant axe, one of his eyes red, and a gaping hole in his skull. The other wasn't even a proper skeleton, just a melting piece of goop in a skeleton-like formation. A cyan eye glowed through it and tendrils surrounded the creature.
“Check their soul first, Dust. You know the person we’re looking for is a child.”
Dust pulled out a scythe and suddenly sweeped it across her chest, swiftly detaching her soul from her body.
A mismatched soul appears, half monster, full of magic, and half human, full of kindness. She recoils from Dust as he and the others stare at her soul.
“woah, she's really both.” Dust looks at the tentacle guy.
“She really is. Bring her closer.” The black goop spoke.
Dust started dragging her to him but was intercepted by a portal that appeared next to him. Three skeletons tumbled out before standing in a fighting stance.
A skeleton with golden eyes summoned a bow before speaking “Let her go Dust.”
Dust twirled his scythe, looking at the skeleton straight in the eye. “no.”
He ran at the two other skeletons who summoned a paintbrush and bone attack. The axe skeleton joined while the goop battled the golden skeleton.
She stands there, unsure what to do. She didn't know how to fight and she didn't know if it would be safe to be with the new group of skeletons.
She went with the safe option : Run.
The tentacle guy immediately noticed and sent his tendrils at her. She swiftly ran between them, weaving to and fro, like her life depended on it.
Well it did.
Finally, the golden skeleton fought the goop until he gave up, summoning back his tentacles and wrapping them around his henchmen and faintly said “I’ll be back for her.” before teleporting away.
She breathes a sigh of relief before looking at the newcomers approaching and tensing up again. She didn't know if they were good or bad.
The blue one with a bandana spoke first “DON’T WORRY HUMAN. THE GREAT AND MAGNIFICENT BLUE AND HIS FRIENDS HAVE SAVED YOU FROM A GREAT EVIL!”
She stared. This guy was too happy for what just happened.
The golden skeleton smiles before saying “I’m Dream, that’s Blue,” points at the guy with the paintbrush “And that’s Ink. We’re the Star Sanses and we appeared because your AU was producing a lot of negativity. Because of my brother.” his voice turns sour at that note.
…..
“Well…do you want to come with us? Not to force you but like my brother’s after your power and I rather not have him use you.” He scratches his head (skull?).
The three skeletons stare at her.
Do they expect a child to make life changing decisions?
She looks one more time at the now destroyed AU before responding “I guess?”
Blue exclaims “YAY! YOU CAN COME TO MY HOUSE!”
Ink says “Well come on.” he swirls his paintbrush and creates a puddle of paint. Blue and Dream jump through.
She looks again at the AU before joining them.
