Chapter Text
I woke up, looking down at my hands. It was quiet, too quiet. I finally decided to get up after a while, walking to the big TV that was carefully placed on the shelf. It was an old animation of Sprout and his friend, Cosmo. They would just sit, making cakes together, I wish I could do that. Sometimes I would watch it on loop when I'd get bored. It never changed. Sometimes Vee would see me just sit watching it and find it amusing, but I don't get why. I was always cheerful, my toon handler Sharon had told me that I should keep cheering on everyone else, so I did. That was the last thing she ever said to me. I snapped back from my thoughts, trying to calmy stand back up and amble over to the kitchen. I would usually see toons welcoming each other, but they weren't there. Why?
"No, it's fine, they're just asleep right now." I mumbled to myself in doubt.
Opening the fridge, I looked at the supplies: Berries, milk and eggs. Someone had left the flour on the side, it was probably Sprout, knowing him. I decided to make pancakes for everyone as I picked up my ingredients and started to mix them.
I then heated the small pan. After that I started heating the pancakes for 30 seconds. I managed to not injure myself from my terrible cooking skills this time. As soon as I finished, I placed the plate of pancakes on the table and hurried over to Astro's door, knocking it rapidly in a small rhythm.
"Astro, you in there? " I was left with no answer. I knocked again. No answer. I'd just go to Vee instead. I politely knocked in Vee's door this time. There was still no answer, "oh.. They must've went down the elevator again without me. Why do they never tell me? I'll just go down and catch up with them.. "
Minutes later, I was standing in the rusty elevator and going to the first floor, the disquieted ambience filled the air as soon as I treaded out. Each step I made echoed through the long, daunting halls. I searched around for a while until.. There it was! A red light! It was a machine. I cautiously walked over to it, grabbing the veemote from my pocket that Vee had given me when we were younger. It was barely even working anymore, it's colours had faded to a dark green. It was still usefull to me. I tilted my head and looked back up at the towering machine, slowly moving the veemote towards it. The machine quickly filled up, making me have to find three more of them. I didn't know that I should've just waited for them to come back. Why did I do it? There was no return, was it my fault?
"I.. How could I even die to a twisted? Most of them are weak anyways... Or at least, that's what Vee told me, she knows everything. That's why I rely on her the most... "
Floors soon passed like a clock ticking.
"Five, nine, eleven? What floor am I even on? Why did I even come here? I just want to find the others and leave, I don't.. "
What was that sound?
