Work Text:

The night air was cool, a gentle breeze blowing over Shen Ricky’s face as he stepped out his balcony, leaving Zhang Hao to ramble to himself as he lay on Ricky’s bed. The silence of the night enveloped him as the door clicked shut and Ricky sighed, looking out over the sweeping gardens below.

“Oh Gyuvin,” he sighed wistfully. “Why must you be a Kim? Why couldn’t you have been a Zhang like Hao or a…Han! Like Yujin,” Ricky sighed again.

It was as sure as anything.

The sun rose in the east, Ricky’s favourite food was strawberries and the Kims and the Shens hated each other.

Ricky didn’t know how it started and he had a sneaking suspicion that if he asked his father he wouldn’t know either.

But it was just how it was.

A centuries old feud with no end in sight.

Until Ricky had caught a glance of Kim Gyuvin.

Just standing there, right in the middle of Ricky’s birthday party, acting like he was exactly where he was supposed to be and like he wasn’t the Kim family heir standing in the middle of the Shen family heir’s birthday party.

And then a hand had slipped into his and suddenly Ricky was looking up and into Kim Gyuvin’s eyes.

“Come with me.”

Ricky had blinked up at him, confused. “I’m sorry?”

“You clearly don’t want to be here, I sure as hell am not even supposed to be here, so come with me, let’s get out of this party.”

“Are you crazy? Do you know where you are? Do you even know who I am?”

And Gyuvin had just grinned, squeezing Ricky’s hand once before beginning to lead him out of the party. “Perhaps I am crazy,” Gyuvin said once they were out of the main room of the Shen mansion, pulling Ricky close behind a tall pot plant. “But perhaps you, Shen Ricky, are even crazier.”

“And why exactly would that be?” Ricky let go of Gyuvin’s hand, levelling the other with a glare.

“Because,” Gyuvin’s grin was bright, almost smug and he trailed a gentle hand up Ricky’s arm. “You came out here with me.”

Ricky scoffed, “you didn’t give me much of a choice, did you?”

Gyuvin had shrugged then, grin still smug. “You always could have let go of my hand.”

“I will slap you across the face, do not test me.”

“You could do that,” Gyuvin smirked, pulling Ricky close again, “or you could kiss me instead.”

The Ricky of then had smashed his lips to Gyuvin’s so hard that the other’s lip had begun to bleed, the taste of copper filling Ricky's mouth as they kissed. It felt dangerous, it felt forbidden.

Ricky liked that feeling.

The Ricky of now merely sighed again, looking out over his garden as he touched a finger to his lip, the taste of Gyuvin still lingering there.

“Psst…Ricky! Shen Ricky!”

oh god.

“GYUVIN?” Ricky’s eyes widened and he quickly covered his mouth, lowering his voice so as to not alert Hao that anything was going on. “What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to say goodnight,” Gyuvin grinned, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Couldn’t stop thinking about you.”

Ricky shook his head, trying to stop the grin on his face and waved his hands at Gyuvin. “Okay, you’ve seen me, now go! My father will kill you if he catches you out here.”

“Awww Rwick,” Gyuvin cooed, leaning against the balcony pillar. “You care that much about me?”

“I take it back actually,” Ricky scoffed. “Let him kill you, see if I care.”

“You don’t mean that baby. You love me too much to let him kill me.”

“We’ve known each other for exactly three hours, Kim Gyuvin.”

“And yet,” Gyuvin grinned, using the ivy hanging off the outside wall to hoist himself up onto the balcony. “They’ve been the best three hours of my life.”

“You’re so cheesy,” Ricky rolled his eyes, pulling Gyuvin close by his shirt collar.

“You act like you hate it, but I think you find it charming,” Gyuvin hummed, leaning close into Ricky’s space. Ricky neglected to answer Gyuvin, instead pressing his lips to the other's once more.

Gyuvin sighed into Ricky’s mouth, cupping his jaw gently.

“Ricky? Where are you?”

“Shit,” Ricky cursed as he broke away from Gyuvin at the sound of Hao's voice. “Shit, shit, shit. It's Hao Ge, you have to go.”

Gyuvin only brought Ricky in for another kiss, pulling him in closer by the waist.

“Promise this won't be the last time I see you Shen Ricky,” Gyuvin spoke between sweet kisses.

“I,” kiss “promise,” kiss “I'll see you again,” Ricky shoved Gyuvin’s chest gently as Hao's voice sounded from inside his room once more. “But you need to go before someone else sees you, please.”

“Tomorrow?” Gyuvin grinned as he began to climb down Ricky’s balcony, stopping only to lean up and give him another kiss.

“Tomorrow,” Ricky promised, smiling softly at Gyuvin as he landed onto the ground.

Gyuvin grinned, blowing a kiss in Ricky’s direction. “Happy birthday Shen Ricky, I hope you enjoyed your party.”

“There you are!” The sound of Hao's voice startled Ricky and he turned around, hoping that Hao had not caught sight of Gyuvin.

“Here I am,” Ricky smiled. “Come on, let's go to bed.”

Hao nodded, looking over Ricky’s shoulder and into the darkness of the garden. “Who were you talking to out here? I thought I heard voices.”

Ricky's eyes widened and he shook his head, grabbing onto Hao's shoulders and swiftly turning him, leading him inside “No one! Now, what were you saying about Sung Hanbin?”

“Right! Well the fact that someone associated with the Kims was even at your birthday was crazy, but then he had the audacity to flirt with me-”

And as Hao continued his spiel, Ricky took one last look out into the garden.

I'll see you tomorrow, Kim Gyuvin.
