Musical Chaos (2004)

Summary:

October 2004, The Bronx, New York

Dewey comes home to Ned putting on a private show

Notes:

Work Text:

Dewey unlocks the front door, his arms laden with music equipment. He's had a long day at work, teaching kids the beauty of rock and roll, but his passion for music never wanes. As he pushes the door open, a familiar melody fills the air, and a sight greets him that makes him pause, a wide grin spreading across his face.

His best friend and now boyfriend Ned, in a state of uninhibited joy, is putting on a unique fashion show, clad in nothing but one of Dewey's shirts hanging loosely over his broad frame and a pair of Dewey's underwear, standing on the kitchen counter, his body moving with unrestrained enthusiasm. The shirt, a faded band tee, hangs off Ned's shoulders, revealing tanned skin and powerful muscles. The underwear, a comical contrast, sits low on his hips, showcasing his long, toned legs.

As Dewey leans against the doorway, his guitar case still in hand, he observes Ned's unselfconscious dance. Ned's lips are moving, forming words to a familiar tune, his voice deep and surprisingly melodic as he sings along to one of Dewey's compositions. The song fills the room, a lively melody that seems to embody the carefree spirit of their friendship and newfound romance.

Timing is everything, and Dewey knows it. He waits, his fingers itching to join the musical chaos. As the chorus hits, Dewey bursts into the room, his guitar case discarded, and launches into a guitar solo that rivals the legends. His fingers dance across the strings, adding a layer of electric energy to Ned's performance. The riff reverberates through the kitchen, causing Ned to pause momentarily, a look of delighted surprise on his face.

In a seamless transition, Dewey moves to stand behind Ned, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's waist. Ned leans back into Dewey's embrace, his slender arms reaching back to intertwine with Dewey's. They continue to sing, their voices blending in perfect harmony, creating a private concert in the heart of their home. As the song reaches its climax, Ned turns slightly, his lips finding Dewey's in a tender kiss, sealing their love amidst the lingering notes of Dewey's music.

The song ends with both men laughing, and Dewey wraps his arms around Ned's waist, pulling him close. Ned leans back into Dewey's embrace, still humming the tune, as Dewey rests his chin on Ned's shoulder, content to hold him while the pasta on the stove simmers gently.
