Chapter Text
"Why must I attend to this, again?" Steve groaned, not even looking up as he asked the question to the obviously staring Robin on the other side of the counter.
"Because, it's been so long since we did anything fun. Since you've done anything fun," she argued.
"I know, but like...a party? Why? If we wanna do something cool, you could just come over and we can have like, a movie night or something like that," Steve pointed out, shrugged a bit at her - which resulted in Robin giving him the 'c'mon' face.
"I mean something fun socially. I'd love to have 'a movie night or something like that' with you. But I think we've been hanging around just each other a little too much," she reasoned. Don't get her wrong, she love Steve - Platonically, but sometimes, other human interactions are apparently important, too.
"What's wrong with that?"
"Nothing. Just...," she trailed off a bit. She wanted to be honest, that Steve's been awfully out of it after the whole thing that happened, how he kept zoning out like he's in deep thoughts, times Robin caught him frowning while in the middle of zoning out.
She didn't though, "I feel like going, and I don't wanna go alone."
Steve looked at her for moment, as if he could telepathically tell her to give it up, but he knew he couldn't so he just sighed, "Fine, I'll go. With the condition that I can get drunk."
Robin nodded without hesitation. After she got a driver license - barely, Steve was somewhat okay with her driving his car when the situation is needed.
"Deal. You can get as drunk as you want."
Steve looked like he's about to punch her in the face, but at the same time, wouldn't.
"Who's gonna be at the party anyways?"
"Oh some familiar faces, I'd expect a few people from high school," Robin muttered, as if she was trying to remember, "Eddie's definitely gonna be there."
The mention of the name caught something in Steve. He didn't even know what, so he acted casual.
"Eddie? Never expect him to be a party person."
"Probably not. I think he's there because one of his friends' are there," Robin explained.
"How do you know that?" Steve squinted his eyes at her, as if trying to figure out of she's trying to set him up or is she suddenly a super-spy.
"I don't. Just a guess. A lot of band and theater kids are gonna be there, and Eddie definitely seems like one of those two, if not both."
"I'm gonna stick out so much if that's the case," Steve chuckled, not even finding it funny himself but Robin huffed a laugh anyways.
"I'm sure no-one will mind. That's like, years ago."
Steve rolled his eyes, but he found it a bit endearing that Robin's reassuring him, even if it was just a small stupid joke.
As Robin happily went to the back, getting something done back there that Steve didn't really have the mind to care. His mind starts rethinking just the whole converstation, but it's particularly dancing around a single simple word.
"Eddie's gonna be there, huh...," he thought out loud, he felt incredibly...weird. Because why is it dancing around Eddie's name?
"God, why do I care?," he grumbled to himself, pushing himself off the counter.
Maybe a little working can clear my mind, he thought.
