Kiki

Summary:

Hey, so I wrote this when I had to put my cat down a year ago this exact day, but I was way too upset to post it. Now though, it’s been a year so I figured I should at least post it. It’s just a short blurb of me saying goodbye to my baby *heart*. I don’t even know who the figure in dark robes is, he just someone I imagined helping me through my grief which is true of a real friend who has been immensely helpful, so maybe this figure in this story is reminiscent of my real life friend who loves me like a sibling. I really miss my cat. I really wish she was waiting for me in my room like always. I love you Kiki, wishing you all the best :).

Work Text:

In The Library With A Special Friend

Beautiful Relaxing Music - Sleep Music, Peaceful Piano, Study Music, Bookstore

A cat lay on a stack of books in a hidden nook in the old library. She let out a soft purr as she slept. Her white belly fur shone in the sunset streaming in through the window. Dust motes danced in the air. Her owner slept next to her; a young boy with skin the color of toast and hair as black as night. A dog, curled up in her bed, also slept snoring softly.

A man rounded the corner of the bookcase. He stepped lightly with his black boots. His dark robes rustled in the stillness, as he approached the young boy, maneuvering carefully around the scrolls spread across the floor.

In one smooth movement the man swept off his outer robe to drape over the young boy’s shoulders.

The cat shifted her position and opened her mouth to yawn. The man smiled and scratched the cat under her chin.

He rested a hand on the boy’s back and said, “I love you,” then left as silently as he came.

The cat jumped down to sniff her owner’s face.

The young boy’s eyes open. He smiled as he saw familiar green eyes peering out at him from the Tuxedo cat’s face.

The boy sighed knowing he was loved by so many.

The cat licked his face once more then turned to look up at the window.

Tears leaked out of the boy’s eyes as he knew the cat was ready to leave. No matter how much it hurt he knew the cat must start another journey. A long journey without him.

The boy wrapped his arms tight around his special friend.

“I love you. Know that I love you so much!”

The cat looked at him, her eyes filled with love. It was a kindness to let go. As there are hellos there are also good byes. You meet so many  people in this life, but everything comes to an end. Or does it?

For the cat it was just the beginning.

One final meow and she was gone. My special friend who saved my life. I went and laid next to Peace, clutching the robes around my shoulders, watching as the last shimmers faded, and with them my heart and soul.
