katniss POV
*beep beep beep*
I wake up from a beeping sound. I tilt up my head a bit, and see im laying on a hospital bed.
The last thing i remember is blowing up the arena and being lifted off the ground. My hands go to my stomach and when i feel the bump i weirdly feel a sense of relief wash over me.
I may not be happy with the fact that im pregnant but i certainly wouln't be happy if they did something to it.
The door sweeps open, and i look itno the evil snake eyes of president snow...
''Miss everdeen, i see you're awake'' Snow says looking at me with an evil grin.
''Where is peeta?'' I snap at him with an angry look on my face. If this man did something to him im gonna lose it.
''Oh miss everdeen, he's been captured. We weren't fast enough to save him, so a hovercraft from 13 took him.'' He says still smiling. ''But no worries we can make a little deal to keep him save if you want.''
''What do you mean?'' I reply.
''I mean that if you want me to let him and your baby girl live, i want some things in return. You're very valuable to me.'' He grins. ''Congratulations by the way.'' He says, and the turns around and leaves the room.
Wait did he just say 'baby girl'? I'm having a girl?
I decide to just close my eyes and hope to die in my sleep. Maybe i'll be better off dead, then i won't have to perform anymore. I slowly drift off, letting my thoughts flow away.
A few hours later i wake up from a nurse entering my room. She has a kind smile on her face and removes my bandages. ''How are you feeling miss Everdeen?'' she asks.
''I'm fine'' i answer emotionless.
She nods and checks a few things on her chart. ''You'll be able to leave the hospital in a few hours. I just want to do an ultra-sound really quick.''
I nod and she leaves to get an ultra-sound machine. A few minutes later she comes back with some kind of screen with a wand attached. She puts a gel on the wand and instructs me to lift up my top. ''This will be cold.'' she warns me.
She starts moving the wand on my stomach and i turn my head to the side. I don't want to look at it, i'm too scared.
''Do you wanna see miss everdeen? She looks very healthy.'' the nurse asks me sweetly.
I shake my head. I stare at the wall as a tear rolls down my cheek. It hits me now that i'm all alone in this. I may not ever see peeta again. The nurse wipes my stomach and turns off the screen.
''Well she is very healthy, if you have any questions you can ask me, my name is celia.'' she says.
''Thank you celia.'' I say with a slight smile.
She nods and tells me she'll take the machine away and then come back to help me get ready.
When she leaves the room the tears fall. I try to stop them from falling and wipe them away but it doesn't work, they keep falling. Celia comes back into the room and looks at me with pity.
She doens't say anything and just helps me sit up and unhooks me from my IV. She helps me dress in a green sweater with beige shorts. She doesn't say anything the whole time and i respect her for it because i am not in the mood for a pep talk.
''Youre all ready, guard nimson will bring you to your room.'' she says to me.
I nod in response and walk with the guard out of the hospital. On the way to my room he informs me about him being my guard and some rules i need to follow, i can't leave my room without permission, i have to do what i'm told and i have to answer the phone on my nightstand anytime it rings. He opens a door in the middle of a long hallway, I'm guessing im in snows mansion. Its a pink room with a huge bed that has gold and pink accents to it. There aren't any windows and the walls are covered with paintings of flowers and bows. There is a bathroom with a shower, bath, toilet and a sink with a big gold mirror above it.
''It's really pretty'' i mutter, altough i do mean it. This room is goreous.
''There will be guards outside your room at any time, dont try and escape or anything because you'll be punished. Snow wants to meet with you in an hour so i suggest to clean up and rest a bit.'' He says coldly.
''Okay'' I just answer.
The guard leaves and i walk around the room for a bit. I open the door to the wardrobe and almost blind myself by the colours. Its all chique capitol stuff, nothing casual or simple. After a while of digging through the drawers i find a pair of soft grey pants with a white longsleeve top.
I walk to the bathroom with the clothes in my hand and close the door behind me. When i've turned on the shower i undress and step in the shower. I look down at my bump, it's not that big but defenitely noticable.
''How did we get here huh?'' I softly whisper while i let my hand glide over it.
I feel like crying but i push it away and quickly wash my hair and body before stepping out of the shower. I dry myself off and when i look in the mirror i see someone that looks nourished and actually well fed. It almost looks weird on me. I turn away from the mirror feeling weird, and i put on the white top with the pants. When i walk to my bed i sit down and pick up the phone on the nightstand. Then i remember something, I know haymitches number..
I quickly press his number on the buttons and hold the phone to my ear hoping for some sort of ring.
Nothing.
I sigh and put the phone down, should've known that wouldn't work.
There is a knock at the door and i nervously walk there to open it.
''Follow me miss everdeen'' Guard nimson says, and he walks me to a door a few halls further. He knocks on the door and president Snow opens it.
''Miss everdeen, welcome'' he says with his snake grin.
I sit down in one of his fancy chairs and he sits across from me.
''So miss everdeen, how do you like your room?'' he asks.
''Please don't hurt him'' I blurt out while my eyes fill with tears. Those damn hormones.
''Oh katniss, we made a deal. As long as you do what you're told, we won't have any problems.'' he grins.
''What do you want me to do? I'm a mess''
''You'll see..'' He says grinning.
