Chapter Text
“You wanted to see me, Commander?” Adler said as he walked into her office, even though his expression was as stoic as ever, neither of them missed the slight waver in his voice.
Falke gave him a nod, “Yes, Administrator.” she said, her voice sweet yet with an underlayer of mischief. Which doesn’t aid Adler’s nerves at all. Still, he walks up to her desk with his head held high, and he's about to sit down when…
“That won't be necessary.” Falke says simply, “This is something confidential enough that I can't risk any prying eyes picking it up.” and with that, she motions for him to come closer.
“I see…” He says, setting his clipboard down on her desk as he walks to the side where his commander sat. Which felt oddly scandalous as he’s used to being delegated to the other side.
It also feels scandalous to see Falke so close, since where she's sitting sets them practically eye level with one another. Somehow that makes approaching her far more intimidating. Though, he swallows these thoughts when he’s by her side.
“What did you want to discuss?” He asked, lowering his voice.
“Come closer first.” She reaches her hand to his shoulder, pulling him closer, and Adler has to beat the part of him that gets flustered off with a baton because *Our commander is RIGHT there!*
Even with his mild inner turmoil, he lets himself be lowered and maneuvered around to Falke’s content. Even when it results in him practically halfway in her lap.
“So,” Adler said, he wishes he had a collar to tug right now, “What did you want to discuss?”
“Well,” Falke said, her fingers tapping against his shell thoughtfully, “Firstly, I would like to start off with-”
Adler let out a noise that was entirely unbefitting of a facility administrator as he felt warm lips press against his cheek. It took a moment for it to click long after she pulled away, and as soon as it did he felt heat rising in his face. He turned to Falke, who wore a satisfied smirk.
“That’s all I wanted to discuss.” She said simply, letting go of the flustered eagle and watching him gather himself. “Thank you, Administrator, for coming in on such a short notice.” Her voice overtly professional as if they had spent hours mulling over reports and requisition forms.
Adler picked up his clipboard and cleared his throat, his face still a bit flushed. “I-It’s my pleasure, Commander.” He said. “If there is nothing else you wish to discuss, I will be on my way.”
Falke gave him a nod and he began to walk back to the door.
“Wait!”
Adler hummed, stopping just short of the doors motion sensors when Falke called out to him. He raised an eyebrow.
“I love you.”
Adler’s heart fluttered, “…I love you too.”
