The subway is packed. Fluorescent lights hum overhead, casting pale reflections on the metal walls. Satoru stands slightly slouched, hands in his pockets, half listening to Geto talk about the mission. It’s routine. Civilians brush past. Their cursed energy flickers faintly. Noisy, aimless background static.
Then…Something. A pulse. Soft, but sharp. A whisper in a screaming room. His head jerks up. Six Eyes snapping into focus, sifting the crowd like water through a sieve until…

Her.
A tiny girl, maybe five a little omega. Holding the hand of an alpha boy who matches her steps like muscle memory. They’re trailing behind a tall alpha whose presence is muted, forgettable, like a ghost refusing to register. But her. She’s glowing like a candle in a storm. Not in power, but in clarity. Her cursed energy leaks in bright, untrained waves, dancing with chaotic little curls and colors he’s never seen before.
And then…She stops. She turns. Looks right at him. It’s not fear. It’s not curiosity. It’s like recognition.
Like her soul knocked politely on his and said, “There you are.”
It lasts only a second. She blinks. Turns back. Keeps walking.
Gone. Satoru stands frozen.
