Elijah’s reading the news when Klaus arrives— on paper, like a prick. “Were I a spiteful man, I might mention something you told me five hundred years ago— a vampire’s greatest weakness?” He catches his gaze while turning the page. “If I were you , we wouldn’t be having this conversation— I’d simply corner your paramour and tear the heart from her chest.”
Klaus’s lovestruck giddiness evaporates. “If you so much as dare to—”
“I’m not you, Niklaus,” his brother assures, waving dismissively. “I’m not entirely certain you’re that version of yourself anymore— and let’s all be very grateful for that.”
