Chapter Text
By now, It had been at least three days since he’d fallen, and he was already over this. After a slow and painful death, he’d fallen right from the living world, straight down to hell in a painful drop. Jonathan had first considered himself to be unlucky to have fallen right down in this death trap. But to his surprise, living in Cannibal Town wasn’t all too bad. The citizens were unexpectedly kind to him, and none of them seemed aggressive towards him. Jonathan hardly considered them anything but kind people, a bit creepy, but kind.
Sadly enough, he still didn’t have much. The ability to find food wasn’t at all an issue, thankfully, and he’s retrieved clothing from deceased corpses the cannibals had eaten. It wasn’t the fanciest of things, a pair of pants with a button up shirt underneath a long cardigan, but he was still warm and decently clean. But yet, he still had no money, no job, and no real home.
“Agh, dead weight..” he kicked up the dead body and finally removed the large coat it wore after lots of struggle. “This should be nice to sleep in.” Johnny dragged over all the clothing he had collected and dropped it into his small corner, where he had been sleeping. It wasn’t much, only a large blanket with two crates holding it up, and lots of rags and clothing as bedding. Regardless, it was tolerable. He gave a small hum and left the small area, walking out to the sidewalk to pick up whatever was available to eat. “Eugh..” he was honestly starting to get sick of eating straight raw meat.
He dropped the arm he’d been eating and kept walking along the sidewalk, observing every building and streetlight in town. Cannibal Town was very pretty in terms of its architecture and faded colors. Johnny continued humming to himself, smiling softly at each cannibal who walked past them, hoping not to be their next meal. He really didn’t know how to feel about his situation at the moment, nor whether or not to continue his current living terms. Johnny had tried leaving cannibal town in search of a better place to stay, or even a job. Sadly, he realized it was more dangerous being outside of Cannibal town than being inside.
Johnny had also been feeling numb and uneasy. Given the circumstances of his death, along with the events prior to it. He could still feel a strange feeling in his bones and flesh, and his throat still had a burning and itchy sensation. Though, he chose not to complain. His living conditions at the moment were better than starving in an alleyway somewhere in the city, or being ripped to shreds by a sinner three times his own body weight. After some time, he took notice to a large building. It seemed fancy and rich, like it was some sort of highlight of the town. He sighed quietly and walked towards the building, looking for a sign that indicated its purpose.
‘𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒍𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒆’𝒔 𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒖𝒎’
“Franklin and Rosie..?” Johnny mumbled in confusion. Perhaps they were in charge of Cannibal Town? Or maybe they just happened to own a business? Regardless, he wanted to check it out. Quietly, he stepped in, silently walking into a random isle to not draw attention. That was the last thing he wanted, he absolutely hated attention from strangers. “Huh..” Johnny took notice to a woman on the other side of the room, who was re-organizing shelves while helping assist customers.
The lady was tall with slightly dark skin, with large fluffy hair a kind-of dark velvet color. She wore a fluffy white dress and a faded red hat with bright red flowers, black sharp nails, and her eyes were pitch black. ‘Huh, she’s pretty..’ He pretended to check the prices on the items to avoid her catching him staring ‘But she seems like an absolute psycho.’ He set the random items down and moved elsewhere in the emporium. Everything seemed worth buying, but of course he couldn’t afford a thing. “Maybe I should just pickpocket? Nah, everyone seems as poor as me..” Johnny took a notice to the section of pastries.
He slowly walked over, taking time to read each label. Most products seemed absolutely delicious to him. Bone powder chocolate cookies, chocolate covered and candy coated eyeballs, blood filled tea cakes, it all looked so good. “Maybe I should just put all this stuff in my pocket? It probably wouldn’t fit..” He rolled his eyes and looked at a box of pastries. A six pack box of cream filled donuts, coated with red candy on top. Johnny didn’t care to read what kind of cannibalistic ingredients they contained, he just wanted to devour them. He slowly grabbed the box and made sure the woman wasn’t looking, before casually walking out of the emporium.
“Alright, hopefully she didn’t see me..she looks like she’d scratch my eyes out..” He rushed out to the side of the building and sat against the wall, opening the box and getting straight to eating. Johnny was so sick of raw meat and flesh that he ate those donuts at the absolute speed of light. By the time he’d have finished the box, he heard someone call out to him. “Ey, kid! You didn’t pay for any of that!” It was the pretty lady from earlier, she was now rushing over to him. He noticed that she was now holding something, so he squinted his eyes to try and see what it was.
. . .
It was a broom.
She was chasing him with a broom.
Johnny dropped the last piece of his donut and got up, quickly running away from her as fast as possible. “Get back here, you stupid child!” She just wouldn’t give up, did she really care that much about 10 dollars worth of treats? The lady continued to chase him until he turned a corner, finally being able to get out of sight “Agh! Stupid kleptomaniac teenagers..” She walked back to the emporium. Johnny took deep breaths, feeling relieved that he remained unharmed. He was about to walk off when he felt himself crash into something, or someone. “Aye! Watch where the hell you goin’!” An older woman picked up her cane and roughly poked him in the chest. “Agh-What the hell?!” Johnny blinked a few times before taking a good look at her.
The woman wore a fluffy dress with different shades of purple, and a blue taxidermy fox on her neck. She wore a matching hat with blue peacock feathers, and large circular red glasses. Her grey hair was chopped up short, and her skin was faded grey too. She didn’t have any sort of wrinkles or physical indication of her age, but he couldn’t tell by her mannerisms and form of speaking that she was significantly older than him. “You stupid kids! Never watching where the hell they’re going!” He rolled his eyes at her remark “Watch it, you old bitch, and don’t call me kid.” He spat to her, poking her back.
She rolled her eyes “Don’t tell me to watch anything! And you are a kid, it’s clear as day.” She held back a mocking laugh. “I’m not a kid, I’m a grown adult-“ she cut him off quickly “And how the hell is that possible?! You’re like, 4’1 and practically bones.” The woman wasn’t exactly wrong about him being small and skinny, but she was exaggerating. Johnny was actually around 5’3, and 106 pounds. “I am an adult, and I don’t give two shits what you gotta say.” He finally shoved her away and walked off. She grumbled to herself before doing the same, while yelling profanities about him to herself.
Johnny let out an exhaustive sigh. “I hope I never see that old hag again.”
