Lois Lane's Three Favorite Things

Summary:

As a fan of Lois & Clark for over 20 years, I always wondered—what if Lois got to turn the tables on Clark for once? This story came from that thought, sparked by all those moments he disappeared at the worst possible times.

When Clark's super-hearing cuts into a very intimate morning, Lois decides it’s time for him to make it up to her—with a challenge only he could pull off. I had great fun writing this fic. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Work Text:

“Oh, Clark… more. I want more,” Lois moaned, as she and Clark enjoyed a blissful morning sex in bed.

As focused as Clark usually was during their intimate moments—and he always made it a priority—he couldn’t help but be distracted by the distant sound of a siren.

“Clark, don’t stop. What is it now?” Lois asked, annoyed.

“I’m sorry, Lois,” he said apologetically. “It’s a siren—sounds like an ambulance, maybe ten miles out.”

Lois let out a frustrated sigh. “You know, sometimes I really wish you didn’t have super hearing. Then maybe I could have you all to myself, just once, without you getting distracted mid-sex.”

Clark looked at her with wide, pleading eyes. “I’m really sorry, sweetheart. It won’t happen again. I promise.”

Lois crossed her arms over the sheets. “It’s humiliating, you know. How do you plan on making it up to me?”

She wasn’t entirely mad—this was one of those rare chances where she could tease, maybe even punish, the ever-so-perfect boy scout. She wasn’t going to waste it. A mischievous grin spread across her face.

“I’m giving you a mission,” she said, smirking. That smirk—Clark secretly thought—was when Lois looked the most irresistible.

“Okay, I’m listening. Whatever it takes to make it up to you,” Clark said, fully sincere.

“You have until Friday night to bring me three of my favorite things,” she declared. “I’ll book a room at the Metropolitan Hotel. At 7 p.m., I’ll check what you’ve come up with. If you get even one of them wrong, you’re sleeping on the couch for a week.”

“Your wish is my command, my lady,” Clark replied with a playful bow.

Two days passed. With Friday fast approaching, Clark was starting to feel the pressure. Everyone at the Planet knew Lois loved chocolate—that one was easy—but what about the other two?

He thought about her career—Lois lived for her work. But how could he bring that to a hotel room?

Then, an idea sparked.

Friday arrived. Fortunately, it was a slow news day, so they got to leave the Planet early. Clark said he needed to patrol the city for a bit, and Lois headed home to get ready. She wanted to show up glowing—literally and figuratively—at the hotel by 7 p.m.

Clark made her promise not to enter the room before then, though he didn’t explain why.

“Maybe he’s planning some kind of surprise,” Lois thought, glancing at her watch. “Let’s hope it’s a good one.”

At exactly 7 p.m., Lois knocked on the hotel room door. It opened by itself.

She stepped inside—and froze.

Standing before her was a life-sized statue of Superman… made entirely out of chocolate. Within seconds, she realized it wasn’t just chocolate-colored—it was chocolate. The smell confirmed it.

Lois was speechless. It looked so real. For a second, she almost believed Superman himself had been dipped in chocolate and left to harden. She reached out, tentatively touching it. It was solid. Then she noticed a small note pinned to the statue’s chest:

“For your third favorite thing, you’ll have to find it inside me.”

“Inside?” Lois squinted. “I’m supposed to eat this thing to find out what’s inside? And where the hell is Clark?”

She paced around the room, irritated. But curiosity got the better of her—reporter instincts, after all.

Lois grabbed the knife on the table and began carving into the chocolate, slightly guilty about destroying such an impressive sculpture.

She tasted a piece. “Oh my god. Swiss chocolate. This is amazing. Best I’ve ever had.”

She kept eating. When she got about halfway through the statue’s arm, something shiny caught her eye.

“What the—?” she muttered, digging into the chocolate with her hands. Finally, she pulled out a familiar object: a brilliant blue crystal-shaped award.

“My Kerth Award? You’ve got to be kidding me.”

Of course it was. Her Kerth was one of her most prized possessions.

Lois shook her head in disbelief. “He buried my Kerth Award in chocolate. That lunatic.”

She felt a little dizzy from all the sugar and surprise. The room started to spin—just as her knees gave way, a gust of wind whooshed past and caught her.

“Are you okay?” Clark asked gently, cradling her in his arms.

She looked up at him, half annoyed, half impressed. “You were here the whole time?”

Clark grinned, clearly trying to stifle a laugh. “Yep. Hiding in the closet. Perks of not needing to breathe.”

Lois swatted at him lightly. “Clark Kent, you almost gave me a heart attack. You seriously buried my Kerth Award? What is wrong with you?”

“I thought it’d be the perfect way to bring your three favorite things together,” he said with a proud smirk. “Chocolate, your Kerth… and me.”

Lois rolled her eyes, but couldn’t help smiling. “You’re lucky I love you.”

“I know,” Clark whispered, pulling her close. “That’s why I go the extra mile.”

This is my first time sharing a Lois & Clark fanfic on AO3, though I’ve been a fan of the show for over two decades. Thank you for stopping by—comments are very welcome!
